The sword of the day is the chakram.
The chakram is a throwing weapon from the Indian subcontinent, used by Sikhs until the 19th century. It consists of a flat metal ring sharpened along the entire outside edge. Warriors would wear several of them on their arms or stacked on their turbans. In battle, the chakram would be thrown like a frisbee, or sometimes spun on the finger to generate a surprisingly powerful throw. In folklore and legend, one of the earliest references to the chakram is found in the Mahabharata, a 5th century epic, where this weapon is said to be wielded by Vishnu, as well as one of his incarnations, Krishna.

Like to say that it’s not art bc it’s just bits and pieces of existing work demeans the whole category of collage and influential artists like Hannah Hoch yk……. I think the argumentative point of it not being art should be the lack of humanness. But i’m even hesitant to say tht bc there’s is human influence in the fact tht he did type what he wanted the AI to create. TBH i think tht as long as the artist explicitly states that it’s AI generated i think it should be catagorized as art. I think i’m going to stick with my “everything is art” philosophy with this one. It’s a collaboration between a human and a computer in a way… which is obvs a very new concept. I think what’s upsetting people is the lack of effort on the human side, but that’s the same reason people were getting mad at the urinal. Everything is art. Thts my conclusion
that’s art
I think first prize goes to everyone except that guy bc god knows how much stolen art those shitty little algorithms are based on, like yes that’s art but the cunt who typed in a description sure as fuck isn’t an artist.
I think it kinda sits at this place where we have to ask what art means and the difference between theft and inspiration. Every work of fiction I've written has been constructed out of ideas I've seen in reality and in other works of fiction. I'm sure this applies similarly to traditional artists. Is creating and training an AI a form of art? I don't know. I don't think traditional artists should have their work automated out of existence by people and agencies using their work to train robots. But I don't think we should dismiss artificial intelligence as an art form in itself, either.
I think we absolutely can dismiss it as an art form because the artificial intelligence cannot make anything novel, cannot introduce an aspect not present in the art it had to gorge on to generate each piece. Its a regurgitation of the data it was trained on, without said data the algorithm would give you a blank canvas. It’s the artistic equivalent of a recaptcha, you tell it to show you a stop sign and after processing the stolen data of thousands of intelligent humans picking the stop sign, it has also produced a stop sign. The artwork in a vacuum is beautiful, but the process of its creation is hollow, soulless, and predicated on art theft, so the whole thing can go to the incinerator imo. Additionally this tech will be abused to shit to avoid commissioning actual people and paying them fair wages, so i’ll enthusiastically take a hammer to it for that alone.

don't really have much to say except how this piece invigorates my imagination and fantasies, or I guess you can say my wishes.

Children who spent time in green spaces between the ages of seven and twelve tend to think of nature as magical. As adults they are the people most likely to be indignant about lack of nature protection, while those who have had no such experience tend to regard nature as hostile or irrelevant and are indifferent to its loss. By expurgating nature from children’s lives we are depriving the environment of its champions for the future.
