My Final 1st Year Show, I am really pleased with how it turned out 😊
I made a number of A2 size posters and fly posted them to the wall of an abandoned handball alley. I used wire brushes to give them a distressed appearance and photographed the process.
I dyed canvas with wine, food colouring and tea and printed onto the dyed swatches with fabric transfer medium. They are resembles of denim patches.
Another attempt at layering the flyers and using a squeegee I pulled paint across the board. I then tore back to the original board in places.
This is the flyer recreated as a huge poster by blowing up to 400% and pasting it back together like a collage.
I pasted the flyers to a board and layered up the sides to look like the layers that have been added over the years are torn back revealing the past.
I began layering up an old discarded board. Trying to replicate old bills on walls.
I made mock up flyers with fictitious bands, venus and dates and copied these onto different coloured papers.
Examples of punk flyers for Dublin Gigs in the 80's and 90's.
Book: Where were you? by Gary O'Neill includes a large number of images that were supplied by my own family and friends, a great insight to youth culture in the 80's and 90's.
2nd Painting Project: I have started looking at punk memorabilia from the 80's and am collecting a number of photographs and images.
My final show for the materials project
Testing out hanging the wax pieces
I used a variety of materials including fabric, plastic bags and cling film and covered them in different wax's, some left white and some dyed black. Testing different times for steeping the materials in the wax from a couple of seconds to up to 2 minutes.
Some experiments with latex, I'm trying to produce a delicate look with these.
Materials Project for Painting: Experiments with Epsom Salts and food colouring produces beautiful crystals, these are extremely delicate and need careful handling.
