it’s not a tumblr issue. it’s not a bluesky issue. it’s not a twitter issue. its not an instagram issue. it’s not a tiktok issue. it’s not a fucking reddit issue. it is on every goddamn site i have looked for community. it is on fucking youtube for christ’s sake. it’s in the literature staples. it’s in the academia. it’s in the in-person community. story after story and story responded to with “this isn’t a wide spread issue it’s just happening in [insert whichever specific place that person was].”

i repeat for what feels like the hundredth time though i think it’s only the fifth: if you do not think an axis of oppression exists then you will without a doubt be perpetuating it.

most transfeminists i have seen over the last three years of observation do not think they can be meaningfully bigoted towards trans men and mascs. they do not think they can meaningfully hurt us. they do not think they need to check their biases. so their biases are going unchecked, and my god is the harm and bigotry abundant.

the problem is fucking everywhere. stop belittling us every time we try to bring it up bc it’s just a [blank] issue. i am going to scream now okay? okay.

having privilege means getting preferential treatment over women in your same category. trans men dont have full access to cissexual male privilege but are still treated with more respect and grace than their transfeminine counterparts in the same spaces and groups (ie the olypmics specifically only barring trans women from competing and not trans men). you would know this if you spent any time around trans women.

you lost any opportunity for me to engage w this genuinely or respectfully when you assumed my peers and the lack of transfem ones, but if you spent any time or paid any attention to trans men and transmascs you’d see that our lack of visibility or lack of being seen as a threat to cis men is not privilege. also comparing our version of this supposed ‘privilege’ to a 1:1 recreation of cis people’s dynamics is wildly reductive and inaccurate

and how exactly is being viewed and treated as mutilated misguided little girls, a non threat to cis men bc we’re too ‘weak’ to cause damage, or being nonexistent in the general public’s minds until trump came in office a privilege by any definition?? this is not preferential treatment, this is not us being respected more, it’s rooted in the same misogyny that transphobia comes from as a whole. we’re nothing more than failed incubators to cis people and they do not view us as men or even male adjacent. downplaying our experiences doesn’t make us any more privileged and certainly won’t advance your position socially, and if you listened to or were actually in community w transmascs that would be evident. we are in the same boat. they want us both dead. what are y’all not understanding about that.
