Late thoughts after a long day of how the Hometown festival can seem so bright to everyone and so terribly dark to a little human; Kris, the voice of things you canât say out loud.
There is a strange silence that always sits at the bottom of Krisâs stomach, as heavy as his dark world armor but much colder. Itâs that kind of emptiness that remains when youâre coming back from your group outing and everyone else has already found someone to go home with, while his footsteps continue to resound on their own on the sidewalk of Hometown. As the festival approached, the city was filled with markets, festoons, even votes for king and queen and a lot of love among the inhabitants, making that void even more difficult to ignore.
For a long time, Susie has been her center in everything, and still is and will be hopefully forever. The girl who scared everyone, but who under the graffiti and the abrupt manners shared with Kris the same flavor of Alphysâ chalk. Next to her, Kris didnât need to be the perfect golden creature that the city expected. It could simply exist in the shadows. And perhaps, in secret, Kris had hoped that that shadow would be enough to keep them together forever. He had hoped that walking together among the stalls of the festival, united by that silent bond, meant something more. even if he already knew that Susie would go mainly with Noelle.
Noelle and Susie work in a breathtaking way. Susie has become softer, and in her eyes there is a new light every time Noelle shakes her hand in front of the stalls. And Noelle... Noelle shines. Her usual anxiety seems to vanish when she is close to Susie, and speaking out of Krisâ shoes I am very happy for the two of them, I have always shipped them, I love them, but I think that this time the Krusie are just best friends, and not something more as Kris thought in the past.
Kris looks at them pretending to sleep on the table, but you hear everything. Kris loves both of them. He loves Noelle, the childhood friend heâs always known, and he loves Susie, the person who turned his world upside down.
And in my opinion this does not mean that for Susie Kris is not important, but perhaps the extra reason for happiness for Susie is Noelle.
But that doesnât take away the fact that Susie and Kris will never be friends again!!
