May the FORCE be with you
"A long time ago in a galaxy.. far far away" that line still hits me every time I watch any episode of Star Wars, one of the most amazing and iconic movie franchise made by man. The episode that still gives me that "Star Wars" feels is the latest, EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Â Â Â This episode of Star Wars basically starts off years after the Empire was deafeated, yet a new threat of evil follows the steps of the Sith and the Galactic Empire. Noe its the First Order leaded by Kylo Ren has arised. New heroes also joined in the battle against the First Order alongside with classic characters like Han Solo, Chewy, Princess-- Oh wait! Now General Leia Organa and of course R2-D2! Â Â Â The storyline was basically a "Good V.S. Evil" themed but I coild also conclude themes like: revenge, triumph over adversity, and Man V.S. Himself which makes it more interesting for my opinion. The filmography was also amazing from the classic and not so grandiose camera technique back then to a more clean and real-like shots and takes that really bewildered me. And some parts, how they took it, gave me those nostalgic feels towards the whole storyline of the franchise. Though the some parts of the movie saddened me it still is an amazong movie for me. Â Â Â Characters also show both flat and round lersonalities, some startboff as evil but sooner or later became good because of reasons they soon realized. While some started off evil and still remains evil amidst the numerous chances to change given he ignored to change, I'm greatly referring to Kylo Ren, son of Han Solo and nephew and former student of Luke Skywalker who turned to dark side. It's setting, well I have to give a big slow clap for it, from low quality setting in the first three movies of the franchise to realistic settings and all. Â Â Â This movie will remain my favorite as of now. I will always be a Star Wars geek and trash.
THINK before you CLICK
Click this, Click that, Click here, Click there, Just clicking anywhere. With this simple gesture, we can do many things online. Post pictures, statuses; access websites, videos, online articles and many more. But simple this gesture may be, we should always be mindful before we click. People nowadays disregard the âifsâ and just do anything theyâd like with the power bestowed by clicking. What people think as a harmless act that doesnât need to be thought about thoroughly, can bring them to stuff that isnât so pretty as they pleased to be or might even bring them into some kind of trouble. If trouble isnât brought to them by careless clicking, well sometimes or should I say most of the times they are the one to bring trouble and even harm to others. If we become careless about what we post and disregard what other people might feel about our posts we are indirectly hurting them. We are forgetting that itâs not just an emotionless machine we are sharing our thoughts to. But behind that screen is a human being that has something called âemotionsâ. Simple gestures like clicking can do many things. We should be aware of what we are going to do with the power of clicking because with the many things it can do, the many people we also can affect including ourselvesÂ
Janus
Time passes by and the type of media we have evolves with it, affecting our culture in all possible means. âTis a good thing or a bad thing?
These two have co-existed with each other on my opinion. As our culture bloomed throughout the years media also bloomed with it. Continuously affecting each other. But is the effect of media to our culture and society as good as the effect of culture to media?
As we all know media is fast growing and its effects to our society is relentless as well. Sometimes people are forgetting our known traditions, customs, and beliefs and letting all the information we see and get form media influence us deeply. To the point that we believe in such things or sometimes change ourselves in terms of how we look and act. Because of these changes we do to ourselves we are becoming untrue and we are now covering up our true color, nature, and selves... we are covering up our culture. But amidst of these lapses, there is a good side to all of these.
Media has become our pathway in letting the world know what we feel, know, and believe in. We promote our tourist attractions found in our area through the media.Â
Being a student, that doesnât hinder me in doing big things to promote and celebrate my culture and my society here in the Philippines. I can put out campaigns, advocacies, and different movements on how our culture and society is and that we shouldnât let it fade and be forgotten over the course of time. Through media, I can also learn even more about my culture and society, stuff and information that my mind hasnât encountered yet and of course once I found out certain information about these I am going to share it to all  parts of the globe through MEDIA.
Media and culture has a big play in our daily life. It helps us grow as a unified society towards that goal in becoming a GLOBAL VILLAGE.
