Drone Excellence

Dronestagram is very excited to announce the winners of the 3rd annual International Drone Photography Contest. Thousands of entries were submitted from everywhere in the world by talented professional photographers and amateur drone photo enthusiasts.The competition was judged on creativity and photographic quality by a panel of experts including National Geographic Deputy Director Patrick Witty as well as Emanuela Ascoli, Photo editor of National Geographic France and Dronestagram.

Walking on Water

Christo’s ‘Floating Piers’ installation finally opens to the public June 18th. The highly-anticipated reveal sees 100,000 square meters of shimmering yellow fabric wrap a floating dock that connects various points on Italy’s Lake Iseo. Undulating with the movement of the waves, visitors can now experience the ‘Floating Piers’ as they walk from Sulzano to Monte Isola and to the island of San Paolo, which it completely encircles. The 3 kilometer-long walkway extends clear across the water, with surrounding mountains offering a bird’s-eye view of a golden network of passageways that lead in and around the town. The fabric continues along 1.5 kilometers of pedestrian streets in Sulzano and Peschiera Maraglio.

This project examines the binary of save and delete, function and malfunction, create and destroy. An old family photo negative is scanned and it’s hex data corrupted through adding emotive questions, “hello”, “do you remember”...”what do you see?” Each question responds with a glitch, a malfunction towards a new photo, a re-found memory.

Choreographing the city

This project explores the “oblique gaze” concerned with the shifting internal geographies of a place. The project uses the concept of choregography and notation to map out the rhythm and quality of space over a weekend.

Zoë Croggon

Croggon’s practice revolves around collage in its most economical and decisive form. Drawing on found images mining the histories of modernist and minimalist architecture, dance, performance and sporting endeavour, Croggon orchestrates highly aesthetic and formally charged arrangements via the simplest of cuts and gestures, pointing towards the limitations and potentials of the body and the built form.
