pressed roses 🌹
I should be memorizing a speech, but instead I’m posting journal pictures 😁
Lower quality than I would have liked due to some technical difficulties, but here is my updated collection of journal-type books as of March 2016.
I might be just a little into washi tape right now. Just a little. 😬 #journaling #insidemyjournal #washitape #journalporn
Stationery I am currently using - Pt. 2
I really am obsessed with stationery. I unfortunately couldn’t bring the entire collection with myself when I moved into my university res, but here is what I have and what I use these days.
STAEDLER TRIPLUS FINELINER:
This pen is so famous already I don’t even think I need to explain. It has been my favourite brand of fineliners since high school (although I must admit I haven’t tried the Stabilo fineliners yet. I think I’m going to give them a try once I am done with the current set.). I’ve been using this set for 2 years now. I really love the colours in this 20 colour set - the turquoise and the magenta are my favourite.
0.38MM XENO BALL POINT PENS
I got this set when I was in South Korea for my mid-year vacation last year. If you love really thin, really fine-nibbed ballpoint pens like I do, you would probably like this pen. I prefer thin pens when I make notes in class because my handwriting tends to look neater when I write with them. I use the black pens for general notetaking and use the coloured pens afterwards to annotate the notes.
ZEBRA MILDLINERS
These highlighters are so famous among the studyblr community already I don’t think I need to introduce it again. I got this set of grey, turquoise, purple and blue when I was in South Korea last year. They are the best highlighters ever! I never used highlighters before because they hurt my eyes so much but mildliners are easy on my eyes and also hella cute to look at. The grey is my favourite.
3 BALLPOINT PENS
I got all of these pens from my mom - who is also addicted to collecting awesome stationery.
MARK TWAIN BALLPOINT PEN
Tbh I have never heard of this brand before but this pen writes SO SMOOTHLY it is INSANE. The ink flow is amazing.
The sad part is I don’t know where to find refills for this pen in South Africa so once I am through with this lot of ink I will probably never be able to use it again :((
SWAROVSKI BALLPOINT PEN
My mom gave this to me in the beginning of this year, as a way of telling me to work harder…
The nib is thinner than I expected, and the body is quite heavy.
PARKER MEDIUM BALLPOINT
My mom bought me this pen when I went stationery shopping at the time I entered university for the first time.
It’s easy to use.
Since I prefer thin nibs, I find this pen too thick for my liking and I don’t really use it that much.
LAMY SAFARI FOUNTAIN PENS
The 2 pens have different nibs (the white M and the pink F), and also different inks (I use turquoise ink for the white and blue-black ink for the pink). I love these. The ink flow is great, and for a fountain pen they are really easy to use. I use them when I draw/doodle in my journal and when I have to write essays. I want to get a EF nib and a different colour ink, but the stationery shops that sell these are really far from the place I stay so I’m not sure when I will have the chance to…
FABER-CASTELL PENCILS + CAMPUS HB PENCILS
I love to use pencils when I jot down ideas or draw up a rough plan. So pencils are always there on my desk, ready to be used. I prefer wooden pencils to mechanical pencils; I also like to sharpen some of my pencils by hand (with a craft knife)… This is a strange habit of mine, but I find the whole process somewhat calming. The Faber Castell pencils are from my junior high days when art was still compulsory. I think I got the Campus HB pencils from Korea.
Love letters I’m not quite brave enough to send. Day 28 of the February challenge by @journaling-junkie
No Muji in my city so have to be content with a spontaneous Daiso visit instead.
can’t believe how quickly i’m finishing this journal.
I finished my first reflective journal! I’ve grown quite attached to it and it’s strange to create a new one
But I’d recommend keeping a reflective journal it’s a fantastic record if your life and thoughts
So I have this little problem with notebooks..
Stop scrolling. Read this. Remember this.
If you can’t take it from him, take it from a survivor like me. These are REAL words.
Easy for you to say, Mark. You have thousands of dollars in the bank and a stable, fun, job. Your basically a celebrity. Millions of fans would die for you. For some people like me who have been to a low place in my life where I wanted to end it, sometimes life isn’t fair. It was fair to you, it certainly wasn’t fair to me. So telling people like us who live shit lives, and will never benefit or make any difference to the world that life is worth living, makes no sense.
It may be hard to imagine but I have been at that low point too. It’s true, I do have a wonderful job and a comfortable life but before that came the dark times. I remember lying in a hospital bed and staring up at the ceiling and just wondering “WHY.” I had just had a tumor removed, was in thousands of dollars of debt, exited an abusive relationship, and lost my job with only my mom’s basement to look forward to. And while my story may not be as low as many others have been, I’m living proof that you can pull yourself out of the darkness. You just have to believe that the future can be better. ALWAYS believe.
