I'm doing ICAD this year. I think this'll be my third year.

I made a little book out of 4x6 index cards using my cincher. I'm using my own prompts because I like having some sort of connection to the words. They're things I like/things that typically inspire what I make. For me, the challenge here is just starting/doing/finishing at all, so I take it easy and make it no pressure for myself.

VÌ SAO LẠI LÀ JUNK JOURNAL? Trong giữa muôn vàn sở thích ngoài kia, nào là đan len, may túi, xếp hình Lego, leo núi,... vậy mà tớ lại chọn Junk Journal? Mọi thứ đều có lý do của nó cả. Đừng nhìn nó có vẻ như vô dụng nhưng thật ra khi nói về hành trình này, nó đã cho Te khá nhiều thứ đó ^^ Mình nhớ là lần đầu tiên mình biết đến Junk Journal là khi ấy trong lúc đang lượn lờ Instagram (phải, mình là một con nghiện Insta) thì bắt gặp 1 bạn người nước ngoài bạn ấy làm sổ tay kỉ niệm những người bạn của mình và dán chi chít các hình dán sticker không theo trật tự nào hết. Khoảnh khắc khi thấy được những trang dán sổ của bạn ấy, nó giống như khoảnh khắc người ta thấy được 1 hộp kho báu chứa kim cương chói lóa vậy. Lúc ấy tớ chả nghĩ gì nhiều cả, chỉ đơn giản là cực kì thích nó thôi. Và thế là hành trình Junk Journal bắt đầu từ đó^^ Vì sao Te thích Junk Journal ư? Thậm chí Te cũng đã ghi các lý do vào sổ tay từ lâu rồi, giờ chỉ việc gõ lại thui nha : + Mình đặc biệt thích Sticker, thích được dán sticker lên mọi bề mặt, mỗi lần được dán sticker mình như được trở về tuổi thơ, được nuôi nấng đứa trẻ bên trong mình. + Tôi thích những gì liên quan đến Giấy + Việc tận dụng các hóa đơn, bao bì giúp mình giảm bớt rác thải ra ngoài môi trường. + Tôi có thể Lưu Trữ Những Ký Ức của mình như một cuốn album ảnh vậy, nhưng đầy màu sắc và có chữ nghĩa hơn. + Tôi thích màu sắc, như những đứa trẻ thích đồ chơi vậy. + Tôi thích Sự Hoài Niệm, lâu lâu tôi sẽ lật giở các trang ảnh để hồi tưởng về quá khứ. + Tôi thích sự sáng tạo, mỗi trang Journal là một thiết kế khác nhau. + Junk Journal là sự phối hợp giữa Vẽ Đơn Giản, Calligraphy, photo collage và Nhật Ký Nội Tâm. Đó là những điều tôi rất thích. +Tôi thích cụm "Turn Junk/Trash into Treasure" : biến Rác thành Tuyệt Tác. Mà sau này tôi cón có biết Thiền Sư Thích Nhất Hạnh có câu "Biến Rác Thành Hoa" hay khái niệm Giả Kim Thuật của Carl Jung. Đều có ý nghĩa sâu xa cả ^^

Đó, là những ý chính mà vì sao tớ lại thích Junk Journal như vậy. Hy vọng hành trình Junk Journal của tớ sẽ truyền cảm hứng đến nhiều người bạn hơn, cho dù bạn đang ở ngưỡng tuổi nào. Thùy Vân

day trip to chicago and dodie! i didn’t have much from actually seeing dodie so i used a couple things i’ve held onto from previous times. it’s fun to look back on bc the 2016 show was super small! i would guess not many more people than the amount there for vip this time! plus the difference in ticket prices rip

Progress in my mini composition notebook collage journal.

I'm leaning more into textures with this book. Letting what's usually just the background be more of a star and trying not to force "focal" images...though some still show up. It's a bit new for me, but I'm really digging the results.

All of the pages in this book started out as just 2-3 scraps plastered on the pages randomly during a couple of journal meetup sessions. Now I'm going back and finishing the pages. I really like that as a method to combat blank page paralysis
