“This part of town isn’t a good place to be at this time of night,” dark eyes scanning over the others figure and habitually prepared himself for the worst. The night brought out a different part of his senses, but he was still vulnerable in the dark. It was clear that the witch was dressed for work, investigative equipment barely visible to the untrained eye, but not enough that it would be a dead give away, “Live close by?”

“I am a cop. I know.” Liliana replied. However, the man might have recognized her as the cop that had been kidnapped. “I appreciate your concern, but I will be fine.” Petra was walking at her side, which made her feel a lot safer. The one mission she went without Petra was the one she had gotten kidnapped.

“I don’t like the attention either,” Naomi agreed. It must be worse for Liliana at work, though. Police officers were supposed to save people from being kidnapped, not get kidnapped themselves. At least that’s what everyone else would think. Naomi knew that nothing would have prevented what happened to her and Liliana. “We’ll be old news soon, don’t worry,” she said reassuringly, bumping Liliana’s shoulder with her own. 

Liliana nodded. At least she was a tracking dog and not constantly on duty, she wondered if people felt safe with a cop that had been kidnapped defending them. It was a difficult situation. The hunter definitely put a lot of pressure on herself because of it. “Sadly, that will only happen after something the Ouroboros do which will be worse than just kidnapping us.”

“Well, you don’t have to worry about that. She’s been in good care.” CJ leaned against the doorpost, eyeing the other hunter for a moment before speaking, “No one thought you’d been taken by the CHK, Liliana. They just wanted police intel?” Her story wasn’t what CJ had expected it to be and she didn’t think what the other said was all there was to it but she knew better than to press when someone was down– when they’d been through what Liliana had  been through. 

“I am glad that she has been in good care.” She sighed and brushed her hair back. “Yeah. I am guessing that they thought I was an easy target... But I didn’t tell them anything.” Liliana said firmly. “I think what was worse was that a civilian got involved. It is different when it is a cop.”

Naomi smiled, laughing a little at Liliana. “Well I was going to hold you to it anyway,” she agreed, though her laugh was perhaps not as boisterous as it might have been. She was still adjusting to being free and was having trouble controlling her paranoia and anxiety. When Liliana had called her though, Naomi had been unable to say anything but yes to going out. “How have you been?” she asked. They had texted and talked on the phone a few times since being found/rescued, but Naomi felt as if this were the first time she was seeing her friend in ages. 

“I figured you would.” She teased back lightly. Liliana offered her friend a small smile and a shrug. “I’ve just been adjusting to life back at the station... Not to mention all the reporters still asking me questions. It’s rather tiresome. I’m sure you feel the same... I don’t know. I don’t like being known as the officer that got kidnapped, but nothing I can do. And you?”

The dark witch jotted down a few notes, but these didn’t appear to be just any kind. The words would appear to be ancient and not many would be able to translate it easily. Even then, it was basic and didn’t contain nearly as much as the recording device right below her ear. “Wonderful, it’s good to see you Liliana. Here is your coffee,” she gently moved the cup and gave the woman a smile, “Is there anything else we should speak about before holiday?”

“Thank you.” Liliana replied as she took a coffee and took a sip from it. In a few moments, she would entirely forget the whole conversation. “When it comes to the holidays, everyone will be suspecting the Ouroboros to make a move. It seems that you guys attract a lot of attention by doing stuff during times that people come together in a group.”

Oliver: oh yeah, because kidnapping is never as bad as it sounds ?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Oliver: Let's meet up bcuz ur gonna have to explain to me just how it isn't as bad as it sounds.

Oliver: Are you okay?????

Lili: I mean... It probably is bad. But I promise I am fine.

Lili: I would love to meet up.

“Exactly,” Adalina nodded. “It really isn’t any problem at all- I’m sure she misses you just as much as you miss her. It would be good. She’d be a little angel and any doctor or nurse would easily forgive once they took one look. I’ll sort it out and let you know when I can sneak her in,” she promised.

“For all of that, you would be an angel.” Liliana replied with a grin. “I just honestly want to go home and take a shower. Sure, there are showers here... But it’s not the same, you know? But having Petra can at least hold me over a little.”

          “You don’t ever apologize for that,” a saccharine chuckle left him, more bittersweet at her plight than anything else. “You’re like extended family to us, Lili, which says a lot considering there’s already a good nine of us,” even in death, he’d never discount Oliver. 

“I just can’t believe they caught me, Julian... I feel pretty damn pathetic for it...” She sighed and shook her head. Liliana had heard him include Oliver and it hurt. Did Oliver feel the same way she did before he died? He must have been so damn scared.

Frowning even more at Liliana, Derek crossed his arms over his chest. “Well, you’re not good to anyone if you don’t get better and go back out there being injured,” he countered. “Just let me do my job, okay? You do all your police stuff and hunting stuff, but when it comes to this, I’m pretty sure I know what I’m doing, Liliana,” the resident replied. Of course, she was getting better, but he wasn’t about to just go around discharging her either. Not until there was full confirmation anyways; both for her own safety and his own sanity. “…Were you by yourself on the assignment? Don’t you all go in pairs or something?”

“I didn’t say that you don’t know what you are doing, Derek.” She sighed softly. “I just can’t sit here like a caged bird... I feel like I am going insane. I haven’t been home since September... You of all people should know how normally calm and collected I am, but I really need to go home. I can’t stand this.” For once of the few times in her life, Liliana was showing her stress on her face. It was a small moment of weakness in front of Derek. She had been kidnapped and tortured, there was no doubt about that. “No. Blaze was there. He was fighting when I got knocked out.”

“Well I would certainly love to meet Petra when the opportunity present itself. I’m sure she’ll be delighted to see you once again.” Charlize had brought herself to the hospital the morning after she had gotten bit. She wasn’t feeling to well and she didn’t have a primary care physician just yet, so she was admitted on observation, sharing a room with another woman. Charlie had learned that Liliana was found in the mirror house after being kidnapped by a local gang. How strange that both of their occurrences took place around Oktoberfest. However, the woman was quite stoic and in one piece considering what she had endured. “I’m assuming you’ll be returning to work once you’re cleared?”

“She is a great dog. Always been very loyal and I’ve raised her for her whole life practically.” Liliana could not imagine a better police dog. From what she had heard, the woman in her room had been bit. Liliana as a hunter wondered if it was a supernatural type bite, but had not inquired too deeply due to being swamped with questions from doctors, nurses, officers, friends, and family. “Yep. I honestly think they are doing a little bit too much. It is just some bruises and fractures.” She sighed softly though offered the fellow patient a smile.

“I really appreciate that, Julian. You know my family has always loved yours... I just. You guys are already going through so much. The wedding, the baby, the Ouroboros... I just. I am sort of embarrassed that out of all the things, I actually get caught...” She sighed softly. “Even worse... They thought I was weak for it.”
