Nine days after the official ask.
Y/n was working peacefully and laughing with her coworkers; it was a beautiful day. Gen had said he’d be busy all day training the new cadets, and that he probably wouldn’t have his cell phone with him because Hasegawa would be supervising too, and would be on his case if he didn’t take it seriously. He said he’d go to the store as soon as he was done and bring her favorite ice cream so they could eat it together that night.
One of her coworkers, who sits next to her and whom Y/N had noticed had been slacking off at work to read celebrity gossip for about 30 minutes, suddenly announced, “Huh? Is Captain Narumi dating someone?”
Y/N freezes. What?
The coworker continues, “They took a picture of him with a girl... I can’t believe it, it’s number one on the trending list” and laughs.
Y/n remains frozen in place. Could they have taken a picture of the two of them at the arcade that day?
Her coworker keeps staring at her computer while the others gather around to look at the news. One of them says, “Ahhh, wow, she’s really pretty. It makes sense, they’re always together on missions.”
What? Together on missions? What is he talking about? She leans in to look at the news, expecting to see herself in her anime T-shirt next to him that day, but—what?
It’s not her.
It doesn’t look like that day.
Gen is wearing different clothes.
Somewhere else.
The woman is holding his arm.
She’s standing on her tiptoes.
Whispering something in his ear.
He’s leaning in to listen to her.
He’s smiling.
Oh no.
Her heart sinks.
Her eyes begin to well up with tears.
She quickly gets up and goes to the bathroom.
She locks herself in and grabs her cell phone, tears falling silently. She opens the news article.
Japan’s most sensationalist news site, known for following celebrities, politicians, and any public figure they could exploit. Most of its news stories were manipulated and deliberately taken out of context. Even so. The photo was there. She begins to read:
“BREAKING BREAKING BREAKING: Has the heart of the country’s most coveted captain finally been won over?
Last week, our team gained access to what appears to have been a romantic encounter between Captain Narumi and his platoon leader, Rin Shinonome...”
She looks back at the photo. Oh, right. She recognizes the girl now. She’s seen her in official photos and interviews from the first division. She’s tall, with a pretty, serious face. Her hair is short and has a bleached streak, just like his.
She stares at the photo for God knows how long.
“Y.n” she begins to say to herself. This is clearly fake news. You’re his girlfriend. Gen would never do something like this. Never. Of that she’s certain.
She closes the website. Puts her phone away. Takes a deep breath.
But then.
The way he smiles as he leans toward her. The way she rests her head on his arm. All the details in that photo come flooding back into her mind, and she starts crying again. What now? She can’t stop. How is she going to go back to her desk? Her eyes are probably already swollen and red. The tears just keep falling.
He’s smiling so sweetly in the photo. And her mouth is way too close to his ear. This woman fights alongside him on missions; he trusts her with his life every day, the kind of bond they share must be something solid and intense.
Oh God. She cries even harder.
She sends a message to her coworker and lies that she’s feeling sick in the bathroom; she asks her to take her bag and shut down her computer because she’s going home. Her coworker immediately does so and asks if she needs help; she quickly says no and lies, saying it was probably something she ate, then says a quick goodbye and leaves the building.
But she doesn’t go back home; she just wanders around downtown in circles for hours. She was feeling a little lost, trying to figure out how she should feel about it. She believes from the bottom of her heart that Gen has a perfectly reasonable explanation for the photo. They’ve only been dating for a short time; the photo could be old; they must be friends, it certainly seems to be more than just a relationship between a captain and a subordinate. But what if the photo is recent? Even if they’ve been friends for several years, now that they’re dating, is it really okay for him to let another girl get that close in a casual setting? Ugh. She can’t tell, she doesn’t know if she’s overreacting.
Everything about him affects her so deeply. Maybe it’s because they’ve only been together a short time. It’s just like he said when she confessed her feelings: she observes everything, pays attention to every little detail, searching, analyzing, as if she were waiting for him to make a mistake. It’s obvious that sometimes she misinterprets everything she notices about him and ends up hurting herself by imagining the worst. She needs to wait and hear what he has to say. She knows that, but she just feels so hurt. She checks her phone, no message from him. Maybe he’s still busy; maybe he hasn’t even seen the article yet. She opens the news story again. It already has over 10 million views. Still at the top of the trending list, her eyes fill with tears once more.
A few hours pass; she’s been wandering aimlessly around downtown. Her cell phone runs out of battery; Gen hasn’t called. It’s time to go home.
When she arrives, she sees that the store is already closed, so she goes around to the back door. It’s open. Gen is probably there. Waiting. She stops, takes a deep breath, a terrible sense of unease settles in her heart; she’s afraid of what he’s going to say. She starts walking again slowly; just as she expected, he’s there, standing, pacing back and forth through the store. He notices her.
“Y/n, where have you been? I’ve been calling you for hours” he says as he approaches her; she takes a step back, and he freezes, realizing she’s moved away from him. She sees the fleeting glimpse of pain that crosses his eyes. He sighs.
“I can explain.” Her tone is firm. There’s no room for hesitation.
She nods; if she speaks now, she’ll start crying again.
He sighs again.
“That photo was taken before you and I started dating. It was Tachibana’s birthday. Rin and I were in charge of picking up the cake; they didn’t trust me to go alone, they said I’d lose the cake somewhere. So she offered to go with me. That’s all.” He looks at her with pleading eyes.
So it was that day. The day she arrived and he left quickly, barely acknowledging her presence, the day she cried herself to sleep. She knows she shouldn’t feel this way, but knowing that he left so quickly to meet his friends, and that one of them was a pretty girl, makes her heart ache even more.
He must notice her hurt expression because he says:
“Y/n… why do you look so hurt? We’re just friends... she’s my subordinate too, and you and I weren’t even together yet…” he says softly, gently.
She feels terrible; she wants to say she understands. But even though she understands, she still feels hurt. She feels a lump forming in her throat, but she tries to speak; her voice comes out almost as a whisper.
“You two look really close in that photo....”
He waits, listening; he knows she has more to say, so she continues.
“It’s just that… the way she’s touching you and the way you’re smiling… it seems… like there’s something more.” She looks up, blinking rapidly to hold back the tears that are welling up again.
“I felt insecure” she confesses. He quickly steps toward her and hugs her tightly.
“I’m sorry… listen” he steps back and cups her face, making her look at him. “That photo really… does seem like something more, but I promise it isn’t. It’s never been like that with her. We’ve never crossed the line of friendship, never. I’ve never wanted Rin that way.”
“Why not? She’s pretty.”
“So what? Am I supposed to want every pretty girl around me?”
“Most men do.”
“Well, I’m not most men, am I?” He leans down, resting his forehead against hers as he strokes her cheek.
“Did you cry?” he asks in a soft voice.
“Yes” she confesses quietly.
“Princess… I’m so sorry… you… you make me feel so much… so much that sometimes it’s hard to breathe… you’re all I see right now.” He kisses her gently, and she kisses him back.
Gradually, the kiss deepens; he holds her by the waist, pulling her closer, his tongue begins to explore her mouth, and she moans softly against him as she feels his hand slowly move up over her chest and gently cup her neck.
She pulls away slightly. “Gen?” She’s breathing faster, feeling her whole body burn.
"Yes, princess?" He gently takes hold of her hair at her nape, tilting her head back before pressing a lingering kiss to the exposed skin.
She bites her lower lip to stifle a moan and whispers
“Make love to me.”
Upon hearing this, Gen immediately picks her up, making her wrap her legs around his hips, and carries her upstairs, kissing her neck and mouth all the way. When they reach the bedroom, he gently lays her on the bed, staying on top of her. “Are you sure?” he asks softly, his voice almost hoarse. “You know it’s okay to wait, right?”
“Yes, but I’m sure. Please.” She arches her body slightly to show just how turned on she is; she’s certain, more than ever that she wants to give herself completely to him.
He kisses her again, more eagerly this time, nibbles on her lip, and moves down, licking and sucking her neck. She wraps her legs around his hips again, pulling him closer; she feels his erection through the fabric of the clothes they’re both wearing and moans softly.
“Fuck” he says and pulls away slightly, taking off his T-shirt; his abs are unfairly defined and delicious. Y/N stares at him for a moment; the moonlight streaming through her balcony window makes him look almost ethereal.
“You’re so beautiful…” he tells her, looking just as enchanted as she is. He leans in again, planting soft kisses on her lips, then on her cheeks, nose, and forehead. He pulls away slightly once more, drawing her toward him by her waist, and removes her top. Then he unhooks her bra and tosses it aside, freeing her breasts.
“So fucking pretty” he says, staring at her as he lays her down again and takes one of her breasts into his mouth, sucking hard. She moans and arches her back again, oh my God, it feels so good. She grabs his hair as he continues to suck, swirling his tongue around her nipple and sucking again, harder. She moans more, softly. He lets go of one nipple and does the same to the other, sucking and playing with both until they’re covered in his saliva and red. The sensation is divine; she’s breathing fast, she wants his tongue between her legs, too.
He seems to understand her completely, as he begins to slide down her stomach, planting soft kisses until he reaches her navel; then he grabs the waistband of her pants with both hands and looks at her. “Can I?” She just nods yes, completely intoxicated with desire, and lifts her hips to help him; he slides her pants down her legs, pulling her panties off at the same time. She closes her eyes, despite her overwhelming desire, she feels embarrassed. He spreads her legs, and she can feel that she’s completely wet.
“Damn… baby girl… all of this for me?” He begins to trace his tongue along her inner thigh, slowly, teasingly, until he reaches where she wants him most. Then he plants a gentle, lingering kiss on her completely soaked pussy, and another, and another. Next, he slowly licks from her entrance to her clitoris, where he circles it with his tongue and sucks gently. She moans loudly, arching her back; even if she tried to stifle the moan, she wouldn’t be able to, the sensation is deliciously intoxicating. She feels her eyes well up with tears of pleasure and clutches the sheet.
Gen continues to suck and lick her slowly from top to bottom, planting gentle kisses between them; he maintains a slow, torturous rhythm. He moans softly as he sucks her. His hoarse voice drives her even crazier with pleasure. “You taste so good” he says, thrusting two fingers inside her at once. “Damn, beautiful, you’re so tight…” And he sucks on her clitoris again, while curling his fingers inside her; she grabs his hair, moaning even more. Her mind is in chaos; she can barely form thoughts because of the intense pleasure she’s feeling, it’s insane. She tries to say something, but nothing comes out except tearful moans.
She feels her orgasm coming and grabs his hair even tighter, moaning louder as she reaches her climax with force; her whole body shudders, and he keeps sucking and licking.
“Love?” She manages to say, still breathing heavily from the intensity of the orgasm. He continues; she tries to gently push him away because her pussy feels super sensitive.
“My love?” He finally looks at her, his mouth, chin, and nose covered in her juices, his fingers still inside her. “I'm going to need you to hold on a little longer, okay? I haven't finished tasting you yet.” He kisses her inner thigh tenderly and goes back to sucking on her. She arches her back again and bites her lip at the sensation. Before long, she starts moaning with pleasure again; the sensation is more intense because she’s still super sensitive, but he doesn’t stop. She turns her face away, biting her pillow, and comes hard again, pushing him away immediately afterward, unable to take it anymore.
"Gen, please" she says, still trembling from her second climax as she hooks her fingers around the chains hanging from his neck and tugs him closer for a kiss. She tastes herself on his lips; he moans against her as he kisses her deeply. She reaches down to feel his erection, he’s so hard.
“My love…” she says, squeezing his cock and kissing his nose gently; he lets out a slow moan.
“y/n… don’t torture me like this,” he pleads.
“It’s my turn to help you…” She strokes his cock again; he moans louder, burying his face in her neck. “Tell me what you prefer right now… inside me or in my mouth?” she asks in a sweet tone.
He lets out a tearful moan and replies, “Inside” then steps back and stands at the edge of the bed. he pulls his wallet out of his back pants pocket and takes a condom out of it; she smiles, realizing he walks around carrying one, what a naughty boy. He takes off his pants and underwear all at once; his cock is big, and her eyes widen a little. It’s beautiful; she feels the urge to put it in her mouth, but she waits for him.
He climbs back onto the bed and positions himself between her legs again; when he unrolls the condom, she asks, a little shyly, “Can I help?” He smiles and nods, handing her the condom. She sits up, and he leans in to kiss her forehead, saying, “You’re perfect.” She smiles. He pulls away again, and she takes the condom out of the package, tossing it aside. Slowly, she slides it onto him. He sighs, watching her intently; she then uses her mouth to slide the condom on more easily. He holds her face, caressing her cheek, and moans her name, “Y.N...”
The sensation of him inside her mouth turns her on again. When she’s done, she lies back down; he positions himself between her legs, places his cock at her entrance, and begins to enter her slowly.
“Shit” he says under his breath, his breathing ragged.
She bites her lip hard; he’s big, and she’s sure this is going to hurt a little. He stops. “Are you okay?”
“Yes, don’t stop.”
He continues; she lets out a moan of pain and pleasure; he grips her thigh tightly and leans in to kiss her gently. “Holy shit, you’re beautiful… it feels so good inside you…”
He continues slowly, letting her adjust; from the look on his face, going this slowly seems to be both pleasurable and torturous at the same time. She feels her eyes welling up again. He stops and kisses her eyes. “I can stop if it hurts too much” he says softly.
“It hurts a little… but it also feels good. Don’t stop, Gen, please. I want all of you inside me, okay?”
“Shit, okay” he continues, slowly. She feels him fill her completely. The sensation is intense. It hurts, but it's also mind-blowingly good. Her pussy clenches around him involuntarily; he moans louder, his hoarse moans sending a shiver down her spine. he’s so gorgeous, moaning so obscenely, with his handsome face, looking at her as if she were the best thing that ever happened to him, their foreheads pressed together; he keeps going until he’s completely inside her and stops, kissing her cheek, nose, and forehead gently. “Perfect” he says between kisses.
Then he brings her hands above her head, intertwining his fingers with hers, and begins to thrust faster; she moans more, the pain beginning to be replaced by a sharp pleasure. He doesn’t try to hold back the pleasure he’s feeling because with every thrust he moans more, right next to her face, looking directly into her eyes as he increases the pace even more.
“Oh my God, Gen” she bites his jaw; the sensation of him inside her, penetrating her harder, is overwhelming.
“You're taking me so well, beautiful” he says as he pulls back, releasing her hands, still inside her, and places one of her legs on his shoulder, lifting her hips slightly and resting them on his thighs, then thrusting into her again with more force. The position seems to reach a deeper spot; they both moan louder, she grabs the sheet; he squeezes her thigh tighter as he thrusts. He brings his hand to her clitoris and begins to circle it quickly and precisely; she lets out tearful moans at the new sensation, she’s about to come, she can feel it coming; any trace of pain is gone, and she’s now fully wrapped around him.
He seems to be reaching his limit too, as he starts moaning louder and thrusting faster. Her mind processes the extremely dirty moans coming out of her mouth, but even if she wanted to hold them back, she couldn’t, she is completely surrendered to him; she almost screams when she comes again. Then, after a few more quick, deep thrusts, he comes too and leans in to kiss her deeply; she embraces him, still panting and moaning a little.
He stays inside her while they both catch their breath, and he begins to plant sweet kisses on her lips and across her face. He looks into her eyes and smiles tenderly; she smiles back. He slowly pulls out of her and picks her up, carrying her to the bathroom.
“You need to pee, my love.” He sits her down on the toilet, then removes the condom from his cock and throws it in the trash, standing in front of her and watching her.
“What?” She feels embarrassed. “I’m not going to pee in front of you.”
He smiles. “Why not? I just saw everything about you.”
“Shut up, even so” she says, wrapping her arms around herself to cover up a little, suddenly feeling embarrassed.
“Wait for me out there” she says, pouting slightly. He smiles even more and leaves. She stares at his butt as he turns, it’s beautiful. She bites her lip, smiling; everything about him is beautiful. So annoying.
As soon as she flushes the toilet, he walks back into the bathroom, surprising her. He grabs her by the waist and gently pulls her into the shower.
“Let me clean you up.” He says. She looks down and sees their combined fluids sliding down her legs.
They step in together; the hot water from the shower feels wonderful on her skin. She hugs him while he caresses her back and kisses the top of her head; the exhaustion of the day begins to wash over her.
He picks up the liquid soap and gently rubs it over her body in slow, circular motions, his hands gliding carefully over her skin. She lets out a soft sigh of satisfaction. He gently washes her intimate areas before kissing her hand and reaching for the shampoo. Turning her so she's facing away from him, he begins to wash her hair. She leans back slightly; it feels so soothing. She closes her eyes as he massages her scalp with his fingertips. Sleep slowly overtakes her, and she takes a deep breath.
“That feels so good, love.” she says softly.
He says nothing and continues. When he’s done, he quickly washes his own body and hair, and the two of them get out. He wraps the towel around her, helping her dry off, and then dries himself as well. In the bedroom, he puts on his boxers, and when she goes to pick out something, he says:
“Can I pick out your pajamas?” Smiling mischievously, she smiles back and nods. He goes to her closet and searches until he finds the same ones she wore that day when he walked into the store at night and startled her; she laughs a little and puts them on.
“You know, because of those shameless pajamas, I had a hard time sleeping that night,” he says, wrapping his arms around her waist, and she laughs again.
"Oh, really? It wasn't my intention at all." They both laugh as she turns to hug him tighter, but suddenly her stomach growls, making her realize just how hungry she is.
“Did you eat?” he asks, looking at her face.
“No... after I cried a lot at work, I left and walked around downtown in circles before coming home.” She confesses, not really caring. He looks guilty and hugs her tighter. “I'm sorry” he says. She gently strokes his hair.
“It’s not your fault at all, Gen. I’m calmer now; I can see things more clearly.”
“The Defense Force is going to release a statement in the morning” he says with a sigh.
“Really?”
“Yes, it’s getting out of hand. The statement will emphasize that we’re not celebrities… our job is to protect the public. This kind of speculation not only affects our private lives but also distracts from the work we do.” He lets out a weary sigh. She hugs him again.
“How about we go down to the kitchen and I make something?” She says, wanting to comfort him.
“Let’s make something together.”
She lets go of him and nods, smiling.

✮ Dating Gen ✮
Gen Narumi x Reader - Part Six.
Y/n had trouble falling asleep after finally confessing her feelings to Gen. For now, they were okay; she could breathe a little easier. She still clung to a certain insecurity about what lay ahead, but his words brought a different kind of comfort to her heart, he wanted her, and that was what she would hold on to.
He said he’d call her every night, even on days when he might stop by the store to see her. That night, when he arrived at the Ariake base, he called her to say good night; in the morning, he sent a message wishing her a good morning. She had a little smile on her face all day.
On Thursday, he called to ask if she’d like to go on their first date on Saturday; of course, the answer was yes. He always called, she liked it when he called instead of just sending messages; she liked hearing his voice. He told her about a restaurant he’d liked to visit ever since he’d become a captain and could afford it, explaining that he’d always walk past it and make a face because he’d thought it was just another one of those overpriced Michelin-starred restaurants for rich people that served terrible food, she laughed. He says that when he received his first captain’s salary and realized he could afford it, he went in out of sheer spite, ready to criticize everything he ate, but the truth is that the food was really good, and the staff was polite and explained every dish to him with great tact and respect.
“So, I think you’re really going to like the place” he says softly.
“What’s the name? Is it well-known?” she asks.
“Ryugin” he replies. Her jaw drops; she’s mentally grateful that they’re talking on the phone because she’d be embarrassed by the look of surprise on her face upon hearing it. It’s one of the most sought-after restaurants not only in Japan but in the world, three Michelin stars, and it’s almost impossible to get a reservation that easily; she figures his title as captain of the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force must have played a role.
She’s going to have to buy a new dress and heels.
On Saturday, she felt anxious all day; now that they’d agreed to try something, the nervousness she felt was different, she felt enormous pressure. Over the time they’ve known each other, he’s seen her in her pajamas, with messy hair and a puffy face, but on that day, especially on that day, she wanted to get ready and look beautiful, more than usual. She started getting ready three hours before the time he was supposed to pick her up. After taking a shower, she felt an existential crisis set in and sat on the floor wearing only a towel for a few minutes. It wasn’t supposed to be like this, all this nervousness that seemed almost to make her sick, and the desire to impress him, shouldn’t be there. If there were any reason for him not to want to do this, he’d probably already thought about it, and yet he’d still chosen to be with her.
Okay, she takes a deep breath; she feels calmer now.
By the time he arrives, Tsubame has already gone home. He calls and says he’s waiting downstairs; she takes another deep breath and goes downstairs. When she sees him, she almost runs back to her room, he looks SO handsome, wearing a shirt and dress pants, his hair slicked back with just a few strands falling over his forehead. She thinks she might not be able to make it through the whole night without grabbing him and kissing him wildly.
When he stops and looks at her, she sees his eyes widen slightly. She stops, is that a good sign?
(Gen’s POV of this moment: He seems to have forgotten to breathe for a second; she was stunning. It was agonizing to try to take in her beauty in a single glance. Oh, it finally hits him, there’s no turning back. Lately, his heart has been so full of her that he can barely call it his own. Her gaze upon him seemed to expect miracles, and it would be the greatest honor for him to make them come true.)
“Do I really deserve you?” he whispers as she approaches.
“You do” she walks up to him and cups his face, gently pulling him down to press her lips against his; he sighs and pulls her closer, holding her by the waist as he deepens the kiss.
“You’re… breathtaking…” he says softly against her lips.
“And I’m all yours” she says, smiling.
He laughs softly. “I’ll make sure to enjoy every part of you, then.”
She feels her whole body respond to his words.
“Can we?” he points toward the door.
“Yes.” She takes a deep breath, and they leave.
When they arrived at the restaurant, she couldn’t hide her surprise at being there. As soon as they arrived, Chef Seiji Yamamoto came over to their table to talk to them. He and Gen chatted as if they were old friends. There weren’t many people there; it was much more intimate than she had imagined, and the chef seated them at a table set further away. As soon as he left, she asks.
“How?”
“Huh?” He looks confused.
She continues “I know you have a certain amount of influence because of your position as captain… but how did you and the chef… how did that relationship come about?”
“I told you, one day I just walked in… they recognized me and let me eat even though I didn’t have a reservation. I was already a captain, and Yamamoto just let me stay.”
“Interesting… and have you been coming here ever since?”
“Yeah, I just let them know, like… a day ahead of time…” he smiles smugly. “Look, in my defense, when I walked in that time, I didn’t know it was such a popular and famous place…”
She laughs, and he finishes, “You’ll like it, I promise…” and leans in to kiss her neck, sending shivers down her entire body
“Gen…” she whispers, melting, but trying to use a tone that asked him to behave, deep down, she didn’t want him to behave, but they were in public.
He smiles mischievously and pulls away. The rest of the night passes peacefully; the food really was jaw-dropping. Whenever they could, they stole gentle kisses from each other. Gen always listened to her intently bringing her fingers to his lips and pressing them there. The act itself made her heart race. And she couldn’t stop sighing with pleasure. She wasn’t nervous around him anymore; she was fully present, savoring every second. When he took her home, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other.
“You should go up” he says after kissing her neck, but he doesn’t take his arms off her waist, making her laugh. She cups his face and kisses him on the lips again; she was holding back from asking him to come up with her and spend the night, but it was only their first official date she’d ask when he said in no uncertain terms that he was her boyfriend.
When she tries to pull away, he pulls her back, burying his face in her neck again. “Wait…” he says, and she laughs. “I know, Gen, but…”
“Yeah…” he says finally, letting her go, but the way he looks at her almost makes her grab him again.
“Go ahead, I’ll wait until you lock your door before I leave” she waves and says as she heads upstairs. “I loved every second of tonight.”
He smiles and watches her go upstairs.
On their second date, they went to an arcade, and to everyone’s surprise, it was her idea.
“Did you really want to come here, or did you come because you thought I’d like it?” he asks as they walk hand in hand through the place, choosing what to play first.
“I really wanted to come. I want you to win that Captain Narumi plush for me” she teases.
“What?” he laughs. “You already have the real one here. Why do you want the plush?”
“To hug when you’re far away?” she says, forcing a sweet voice just to tease him even more. He smiles slightly and leans down to whisper in her ear in a teasing voice “what else are you going to do with it while I’m away?”
She pushes him away a little, laughing and feeling embarrassed. Since it was a very crowded place, Gen was wearing a cap and a hoodie; she felt a little bad for suggesting the spot, but he reassured her, saying he comes here all the time, he just needs to hide a little and didn’t mind.
“You know, next time, how about we just hang out in my room back at the store? And watch a movie? I’ll let you pick a horror movie.” She smiles.
He smiles even wider. “Sounds perfect.”
They spend a few hours playing games; she laughs a lot as she discovers just how competitive he is. Gen has been really sweet to her lately, but when it comes to games, he hasn’t let her win a single time and he even teased her constantly about how bad she was at most of them. Obviously, she didn’t mind; on the contrary, she found it really funny, her cheeks were aching from laughing so much.
“You’re being so mean today” she says, still laughing after he teased her while they were playing a virtual reality game.
“Three times, you literally let the same zombie devour you three times, in the exact same spot” he says in disbelief.
“It’s your fault, weren’t you supposed to be protecting me?”
“In games, it’s every man for himself, sweetheart” he teases, going back to playing. She pushes him, causing his character to die instantly; he gasps dramatically, and she laughs hysterically.
“That’s it. I’m not going to win that Captain Narumi plush for you today.” He says.
“Fine, I don’t need a man to win anything for me.” She sticks her tongue out at him as she starts walking backward. “I’ll win it myself. And you know what else? I’m going to get the giant Vice Captain Hoshina plush.”
He gasps again, more dramatically than ever, and she continues “and I’m going to wrap my legs around him when I’m having trouble sleeping.” He abandons the game and starts walking quickly toward her; she laughs even more and starts running. He starts chasing her, running too, and catches up to her in less than a minute without any difficulty, picking her up and spinning her around the room while she laughs even harder.
“Don’t you dare say something so outrageous to me again, okay? Wrap your legs around Hoshina? Are you crazy?” he says, tickling her as she wriggles and laughs even harder, her eyes watering.
“Tell me you’ll never say that again” he continues, tickling her.
“Yes, sir, I won’t say that again.” Still laughing, he stops and pulls her close, putting his arm around her shoulder
“Good girl, now let’s go get your plush of the most handsome, smartest, and strongest captain in the entire history of the Defense Force. Tell me his name again.”
“Narumi Gen” she laughs, and so does he. “That’s right.”
It takes him less than five minutes to win the thing. It’s huge, a giant round plush with nothing but his face on it, drawn in an adorable chibi style. She can't help laughing as she stares at it.
“I can’t believe the Defense Force authorizes these kinds of products” he says with a scowl, making her laugh even more.
“Oh, come on, it’s cute” she says, hugging the thing as they leave the building and head toward a street stall selling takoyaki.
“What would you like to eat, sweetheart?” he says gently as he tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear, sending shivers down her spine. “They sell karaage, too.” She feels her cheeks burning and hides her face behind the giant Narumi plushie so he won’t notice.
“Karaage for me” she says.
“Okay.” He turns and walks over to the vendor while she sits down at a nearby table.
“Takoyaki for me and karaage for my girlfriend” she hears him say.
Her eyes widen immediately. Girlfriend? Did she hear that right? She clutches the plushie tightly. Did he really say that? Maybe he only said it because saying “friend” would sound weird now. No. Wait. Her mind is spinning. Is she supposed to just deal with this now? Just like that? She doesn’t know if she can, she feels her whole face burning, he’s coming back to the table, and now what?
All right. No more avoiding it. The minute he sits down, she says:
“You haven’t asked me to be your girlfriend yet” she tries to keep her voice soft even though she’s boiling inside. “But you referred to me as your girlfriend to the salesperson.”
She sees his eyes widen slightly. “Did that bother you?” he asks carefully.
“No. I just don’t want to get confused.” She tries to smile.
She takes his hand. “I’m sorry… you know… when I said I wanted you slowly, I meant that I want to enjoy our time together without any pressure… but I don’t need to go on a bunch of dates to know that I want to commit to something more serious… so, do you want to? Be my girlfriend?” He seems almost afraid to ask, which surprises her because if it were up to her, they’d already be married, of course, she keeps that a secret, so she just leans in and kisses him gently.
“Yes, I really do” she says, smiling shyly. He smiles too and runs his hand over his face, saying “why does it feel like I’m a teenager dating for the first time? You have a way of making me feel embarrassed.” He leans in to bury his face in her neck, sending more shivers down her spine.
She laughs again and says “Good to know I’m not the only one who struggles with this.”
The server comes over and brings their dishes; they eat together, holding hands, and he teases her about her red cheeks.
When they arrive at the store, she stays hugging him for several minutes, not wanting to let him go; he remains silent, letting her enjoy the moment.
“Gen?” she says, still clinging to him like a koala, while the Narumi plushie lies abandoned on the floor near the stairs.
“Yeah?”
“Do you want to sleep here?” She feels his body tense up for a second.
“Sleep?.... Like, just sleep?”
She laughs. “For now, yeah.”
He lets out a dramatic sigh and laughs too: “Yes, sweet girl, I’d love to.”
Then she takes his hand and pulls him up, bringing the plushie along with her.
“Where are you taking that thing?” he says as they climb up
“Maybe to my couch? I can use it as a pillow when I’m watching TV” they both laugh.
“I’m going to take a quick shower, okay?” she says, heading to the bathroom. “If you want to, too, I have some oversized T-shirts and shorts I bought by mistake, they should fit, so you can sleep more comfortably.”
“Sure, you know, I usually just wear boxers” he teases her.
She laughs sheepishly “you’re such a brat” and goes into the bathroom.
When she comes out, she leaves his clothes neatly folded for him inside the bathroom. And this time, she puts on a more modest pair of pajamas.
“Why don’t you put on the ones that barely cover your body?” he teases her again, smiling mischievously.
“I’m going to make you sleep on the floor if you keep this up.”
“Okay, okay, I’ll stop” he says, walking past her with a smile on his way to the bathroom to take a quick shower. When he comes back, he’s wearing only shorts. “The T-shirt didn’t fit.”
His abs looked like they’d been photoshopped. She turned her face away in embarrassment, but of course her awkwardness didn’t go unnoticed, and he teased her again. “You know, Y/N, now that we’re dating, you’re going to see me like this a lot.” She could feel the mischievous smile escaping his mouth even without looking at him.
“Stop teasing me.” She lies down and buries her face in the pillow.
“If you’d rather, I’ll put my shirt back on.” It was a button-down dress shirt; it would probably be uncomfortable to sleep in, so she replies "No, it’s fine.”
Then he lies down next to her and immediately hugs her from behind, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her closer, pressing her back against his chest. He whispers in her ear, “Don’t worry, baby girl, I’ll behave.” She almost lets out a little squeal, but says, almost in a whisper “thank you.”
And he really does behave himself; she desperately wants to make love to him, but she’s still not quite sure enough. It’s been a few years since the last time she gave herself to someone like that, and the result didn’t really impress her. She sleeps peacefully in his arms, feeling his warmth as he caresses her belly, tracing gentle circles with his fingers.

I actually thought about adding some smut at the end of this chapter, but then I realized it wouldn't make sense to rush things between them. That's just not the kind of story I'm trying to tell. I want their first time to be more romantic, so I'll do my best to bring that in the next part.
Thank you so much for reading, and thanks for all your lovely comments and support. See you all in a few days! 🤍
✮ Dating Gen ✮
Gen Narumi x Reader - Part Five.
After that night, which she now held in a special place in her heart. A few weeks had passed, and Gen always found a moment to stop by; she knew it wasn’t just for her sake, he’d been coming to the store to spend time with Tsubame for years. Sometimes they’d talk for hours; other times, they’d say very little. They’d both discovered that there was so much they disagreed on, but also so much they agreed on.
On one particular Tuesday, when he saw her coming, he hid in the small pantry in the kitchen and jumped out in front of her, scaring her on purpose and laughing as if he were twelve years old. The scare made her scream so loudly that one of the neighbors came running, thinking someone was attacking her. While she was still trying to recover, she could hear Tsubame laughing somewhere; honestly, sometimes she was more childish than he was. She tried to fight back by slapping him, but, as expected, he dodged it with ease, gently twisting her arm to spin her around and pull her against his chest while he continued to laugh and whispered softly in her ear that he’d made coffee. All the irritation she felt at being the victim of such a childish and annoying act immediately melted away, and she had to control herself so she wouldn’t simply let go of her legs and let him hold her in his embrace.
On another occasion, it was a Sunday morning, she had woken up a while ago; it was hot. As she walked into the bathroom to take a shower, she felt something small and cold jump right onto her thigh. She screamed loudly again when she saw it, a green tree frog, she ran fast down the stairs, bumping into Gen.
“What the hell? What happened?” he says, holding her in his arms. Tsubame is standing behind them with a cigarette between her fingers and a frightened look on her face.
“A tree frog” she says, still trembling a little. “In my bathroom.”
The expressions on both their faces were priceless. Tsubame couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. Gen, sweet Gen, was a little more considerate; he held back the laughter that threatened to escape and asked in a soft voice:
“Do you want me to get it for you?”
She, still a little shaken, pleaded “please.”
They go upstairs together while Tsubame, still laughing, lags behind; the little creature is clinging to her mirror. Gen approaches and gently picks it up in his hand, it’s so tiny. Y/n swears that if it hadn’t jumped on her leg, she wouldn’t have screamed so much. (Lies.)
He walks over to her and says “Look, it’s kind of cute.” She moves closer and looks, yes, it is kind of cute. Its two front little paws are clinging to Gen’s finger. She smiles and says “Can I take a picture?”
He nods; she grabs her phone and takes the picture, smiling. They go back downstairs, and Gen places it on a tree across the street. Tsubame says, “It’s summer; it’s common for these little things to show up this time of year.” y/n knows. She just didn’t expect to have such a dramatic encounter with one in her bathroom.
Gen goes to the kitchen to wash his hands, and y/n follows him.
"Thanks" she says, a little embarrassed. Gen looks at her and smiles, saying, “How do you survive out there when you’re afraid of something so small and harmless?”
She rolls her eyes and says, “don’t tease me, okay? I’m tougher than I look.” She lifts her chin as if to prove her point; he just laughs again and ruffles the top of her head as they head back to the store. She melts. Damn.
Another day, he was leaving just as she arrived home from work that had drained her physically and mentally that week. She’d been thinking about him the whole time; she wanted to spend more time with him, but when she got home, he had to leave so quickly for some reason. He barely looked at her. She felt so disappointed that she simply went up to her room and cried for hours before falling asleep. Why didn’t he stay a little longer? Why didn’t he ask how her day had been? Why didn’t he just officially ask her out on a date? Oh God, she’d already given him so many hints, right? She’d never directly confessed her love, but if it’s true that the eyes speak, even an idiot would have realized she was head over heels in love.
The next day, she tried to subtly get Tsubame to explain why he’d been in such a hurry. He mentioned that it was apparently the birthday of one of his closest friends in the force, Tachibana, and that the squad was throwing a surprise party. Her heart sank, she was jealous. She didn’t want to feel that way, it was an ugly feeling. Part of her was happy to know he had friends he could count on and have fun with, but the other part realized that this world was also something she would never be a part of. She didn’t like herself in that moment for feeling that way, but we can’t control what we feel, can we?
It was already nighttime; he probably wouldn’t come that day. Deep down, she was grateful for that, though she also felt a little hurt that he had left so quickly to meet his friends, barely even looking her in the eye. She knew she was being dramatic, but she couldn’t see it any other way at that moment. She began to wonder: if he rejected her, what would she do with all the love she was feeling? She’d have to move out of that building, she wouldn’t be able to face him, and she wouldn’t impose her presence in a place that belonged more to him than to her.
“Oh, my dear Gen, not a single word, not a single gesture of yours. I’ll never forget them.”
Two weeks passed, he didn’t come even once. Her disappointment gave way to irritation. But she kept telling herself that he didn’t owe her anything, it wasn’t fair to him. Yet she was tired of the back-and-forth; he also bore some responsibility. There had been several moments when he’d shown that he seemed to feel something more, she wasn’t in this alone.
After managing to get a lot of her creative work at the company done ahead of schedule, her supervisors gave her team a few days off. Should she visit her family and try to stop thinking so much about a certain annoying captain?
After finishing her shower and putting on a light dress, she goes downstairs to grab an energy drink from the kitchen fridge. It’s late afternoon; she knows Tsubame is either at the store somewhere or just gossiping with a neighbor, she’s never worried about leaving the store unattended.
But then, as she was walking down, she stopped suddenly, because there he was, Gen. Looking more handsome than ever, wearing a damn black compression shirt, pants that looked like part of his defense force uniform, and holding a jacket; he looks at her and smiles, his hair damp and swept back a little messily.
Her mind short-circuits; her heart beats so fast it feels like it’s going to explode in her chest. All her irritation vanishes, and she realizes now just how much she’s missed him. Oh, she loves him, but at that very moment, she also hates him a little.
He starts walking toward her slowly, smiling, and says, “Hey, it’s been a while, hasn’t it…”
She can’t take it anymore; she walks toward him, grabs his shirt, and pulls him down, pressing her lips against his.
For a moment, everything around her stops; all she feels is the kiss, his lips are soft…
But suddenly she hears Tsubame’s voice and pulls away; it hits her, he’s looking surprised. She feels terrible, mutters an apology, and runs out of the store toward the street. She doesn’t even think about where she’s going, but she needs to get out of there. She hears someone call her name, is it him?
Her head spins; she keeps running, then slows to a walk, though still at a brisk pace, and spots a department store, rushing inside. She hides among the clothes and crouches on the floor, her eyes welling up. What had she done? Now there was no turning back, if he rejected her, she would miss the lightheartedness their relationship had right now. In any case, she didn’t want to be just his friend, so she doesn’t regret it, but she also feels uncertain about what’s to come.
She doesn’t know how long she stays there, until a saleswoman comes over to ask if she’s okay. She stands up, wipes her eyes, and says yes. She leaves the store, it’s already nighttime, and decides to go home. When she spots the store, she sees that the front doors are closed, Tsubame has already gone home. She enters through the back door, which leads through the kitchen; the store is dark. When she turns on the light, she sees him sitting on the first step of the staircase leading to her room. She isn’t surprised, she knew he’d probably be waiting. She sighs. The moment of truth. Before he can say anything, she says:
“I like you.”
He stands up. “I know.”
She nods, what else can she say? She’s not sure, but she tries; she doesn’t want to regret it later.
“I’m not asking you to like me back… I just… wanted you to know.”
He’s silent, watching her, waiting… what is he waiting for? She speaks again. Fuck it, what does she have to lose? She tries to use a firmer voice, even though she’s dying inside.
“So, do you want to go out on a date with me?”
“Yes.”
What? Yes? Did he say yes? That fast?
Her mind short-circuits again... she sees him smile and come closer.... oh shit, he’s coming closer.
“You.... really...” she tries to say, but he cuts her off.
“Yes, I really want to go out with you, y/n” he takes her hands and lowers his head, resting his forehead against hers, saying gently, “I’m sorry I didn’t call you first. I knew I wanted you, but I was trying to figure out how to handle something like this... it’s different...”
“Different? Different how?” She’s so nervous she’s shaking; he gently runs his hands over her arms as if trying to calm her down; she feels like she’s going to faint.
“Because you’re so sweet, and you feel everything so much more intensely… you analyze every microexpression I make, every gesture, every breath… searching, trying to figure me out completely… I saw it all… I saw you.” It was true, it was simply the fucking truth.
He caresses her cheek. “Listen... sometimes it was hard to be under your gaze… I felt like you were expecting so much from me… that I felt pressured… what if I wasn’t able to get to where you wanted me to be? You seem to see a version of me that I’m still not sure exists.”
She feels her eyes fill with tears. “I’m sorry” she whispers.
“You didn’t do anything wrong.” He kisses her cheek so gently that she shivers even more. “I’m sorry for making you wait… I want to discover who we can be together…” He slides his hand up to her chin and lifts it gently, placing a tender kiss on her lips, and whispers against them: “But I’m in no hurry. I want you slowly, little by little… I want to take the time to fall in love with your soul.” And he kisses her again, this time deeper, more intimately; she’s still trembling but gives herself to him completely. He holds her by the waist, pulling her closer; she has to stand on her tiptoes to wrap her arms around his neck, burying her fingers in his soft hair. She feels his hand, hot as fire, slowly slide down from her waist, passing over her hip and gently squeezing her butt. The gesture makes her let out a surprised gasp against his mouth; he smiles, still kissing her. She pulls away slightly and whispers, still shaken: “Didn’t you just say you’re in no hurry?”
“And I’m not…” he smiles mischievously; she smiles too and closes her eyes, taking a deep breath.
“Look, you’re in charge of planning our first date, okay? I really don’t have the heart for it right now.”
He laughs even more and buries his face in her neck, inhaling her scent. “All right, sweet girl, I’ll take care of it. "

have fun reading, new chapter in two or three days!! 💞
oh, and this chapter includes a quote from Anna Karenina and the poet Joab Brandão 🌼
✮ Dating Gen ✮
Gen Narumi x Reader - Part Four.
Warning: Mature content at the end of the chapter.
Not long after, Narumi leaves, and y/n goes upstairs to rest. As Tsubame said, it’s Friday, even if she doesn’t want to go out, maybe she should do something different at home? She takes a long shower, washes her hair, exfoliates her skin, and puts on some cute pajamas that don’t cover much of her body. After she’s done, she remembers she’d bought some wine; it was in the small fridge she kept in her bedroom so she wouldn’t have to keep going down to the kitchen whenever she was thirsty.
After drinking half the bottle and eating some McDonald’s (yes, she loves to treat herself to McDonald’s every now and then as a reward for a tough day) while watching the new season of Hell’s Paradise, she suddenly hears a loud noise coming from downstairs and immediately panics. It’s already past midnight. Mrs. Tsubame had said the neighborhood was safe, and if it’s a criminal, most of the surrounding buildings are commercial, no one will hear her scream. As she grabs her phone to call the police, she hears his voice coming from down there. “Damn it”
“Narumi?” She thinks. What the hell? She unlocks her door and runs downstairs. Yes, it’s him. Only one light in the store is on; she can’t see him clearly, but she’s sure it’s him. He’s in front of the TV trying out some games. She’s annoyed, and a little drunk.
“What’s your problem?” A cold breeze blows past her; she gets goosebumps. He looks at her, surprised.
“Oh…. I’m sorry, did I wake you up? I tripped over a box when I came in…” She can tell from his tone that he’s sorry.
“No… I wasn’t sleeping, but you almost gave me a heart attack. I was about to call the police.” He smiles a little, and suddenly she takes in the whole situation: her and Narumi, alone, at night. She remembers she’s wearing pajamas that don’t cover much of her legs or breasts. The wine has made her bolder, so she approaches him slowly and asks in a soft voice
“So… what are you doing here? Actually, how did you get in here in the first place?” He looks at her again; his gaze lingers on her for a few seconds, and in a deeper, quieter voice, he replies:
“I have the keys.” She smiles, of course he does. She moves closer, and for a split second she notices: did he just let his eyes wander over her breasts? She knows her nipples are hard; a minute ago, she made a point of tossing her hair back because she knew that would make her breasts more visible through the thin blouse she’s wearing. She smiles devilishly. Yes, he looked, it was quick, and he covered it up well, but she managed to notice. She moves closer; this time she has the decency to cross her arms to hide them, her innocent plan had already worked anyway.
“And what’s so important here that it couldn’t wait?”
He replies without looking at her, “The games I picked up earlier aren’t working; I came to get some others.”
She sits down next to him; he immediately gets a little tense, it’s easy to tell, and she smiles again, enjoying the feeling of control. Usually, she’s the one who gets tense around him.
“Are you going through a phase where you’re only playing old games right now? Because I’m sure you have thousands of current games at home.”
He smiles. “Yeah, that’s right. I’m testing them out on the old Dreamcast Tsubame fixed up for me.”
“I see” she says. She can feel the heat radiating from his body, did she sit too close? His cologne washes over her; it’s just as she’d thought before, it seems expensive, it smells SO good. Damn, the wine is making her even more perverted than usual.
(Gen's POV of this moment: Fuck, why the hell is she wearing such a shameless pajama? Shit... she smells sweet, and why the hell is she smiling like that? My fucking dick is throbbing, seriously, what a great moment, damn it.)
“So…” she begins, “what’s life like as a captain in the defense force?” She smiles and leans in a little; their shoulders touch. He looks at her and raises an eyebrow.
“You were drinking, right?” She freezes.
“No.”
He smiles. “Yes, you were. Wine?”
“Yes,” she admits with a sigh. “Aren’t you going to answer my question?”
“It’s cool.”
Is that it? “Just that? Cool?”
He sighs. “I kill things, I make a lot of money doing it, and a bunch of pretty girls hit on me, yeah, it’s cool.” He tries to sound casual and nonchalant. The comment about girls irritates her a little, she’s just another one of them to him, right? She looks at his arm; he’s wearing a few bracelets, one of which looks way too girly. The alcohol has definitely made her braver, because she asks.
“What about that bracelet?” Narumi looks surprised for a second and glances at his wrist.
“Which one?” he asks.
She points with her finger. “That one, the one with the red beads.”
“What about it?”
“Did you buy it?”
“No, a pretty girl gave it to me.” He smiles, yes, he’s teasing her.
Y/n could swear she feels her eye twitch; maybe he notices her slight irritation and adds with a smile “A pretty girl who’s turning nine this year.”
“What? What do you mean?”
He sighs and explains “Last year there was a Yoju group attack in Kachidoki, remember?”
“Yes, she replies, listening intently.
“That little girl got lost; she was hiding in the rubble. The Yoju were still attacking, and the rescue team didn’t see her. She showed up just as I was about to neutralize part of the group. I had to deal with them without being able to use my suit’s full power because I might have hurt her in the process; because of that, I took a hard hit. In the end, everything worked out, and I managed to take her to the shelter.”
“A few days later, a subordinate came to the base saying that a woman and a little girl wanted to see me. It was her and her mother; they came to thank me for what had happened. Her mother explained that she had lost consciousness when their house collapsed, and the little girl was left alone. They brought me homemade cookies, and the little girl gave me this bracelet. She said she’d made it herself and had put a prayer in each bead, and that it would bring me luck.” He smiles, looking a little embarrassed.
Y/n listened very carefully; she felt a tightness in her heart, yes, she knows what it is; she’s falling madly in love with him. She smiles softly and doesn’t press the subject any further.
“Captain Narumi, you’re truly amazing.” She gives him a thumbs-up.
“And you?” His deep voice seems to have grown even deeper.
She feels her face grow hot. “What about me?”
“What’s your story?” She thinks for a moment, he wants to know more about her. She tries to stay calm and answers.
“It’s… pretty normal. I grew up in the countryside, in Takayama.”
“Takayama, huh? It’s a beautiful city” he says. She smiles.
“Yes, it is.”
“Are you happy here?” She thinks, looks at his face; for a minute she gets lost in his features. He has beautiful eyes, a straight nose, and small lips, but not too small. He has a small mole on his jawline. What if she kissed him right there? She forces herself to snap back to reality, looks down, and answers.
“Yes… I mean, I miss it, but I’ve been enjoying it here" she looks at him and smiles. Does she smile a lot when he’s around? She wonders.
“Are your parents still there?” He glances at her lips briefly before looking back into her eyes. She nods gently; of course, that didn’t go unnoticed, nothing he does goes unnoticed by her.
“Yeah… but they’ve been divorced since I was six. I grew up with my mom, my grandma, and my older brothers. I don’t talk to my dad that much… he seems to have forgotten how to be a present father after the divorce” she confesses with a sigh.
“I understand” is all he says, and he stands up to grab another game from the shelf behind the TV. When he raises his arms, his T-shirt rides up a little, revealing his boxers, they’re red, from a famous brand. Y/N bites her lip; she feels like she’s being overtaken by a monster full of pheromones right after sharing a sad part of her childhood, the effect he has on her is ridiculous. He sits back down next to her; his scent washes over her again, and she almost leans in, wanting to bury her face in his neck. My God, she needs to relax.
“So… do you have friends?” she asks, trying to distract herself. “Is it easy to make friends in the defense force? You’ve been part of it for quite a while, right?”
“Well… yes, given the circumstances, soldiers tend to form a kind of bond over time.”
“Are there still the same people in your division who started with you when you were a rookie?”
“Some.”
“Did the relationship change after you became their superior?” She’s genuinely curious about his daily life.
“Not really…” He replies.
Suddenly she remembers a detail and makes a surprised face, leaning forward slightly. “Oh, that’s right, there’s something I’ve noticed whenever I see members of your division giving interviews or in official photos: some of them have sections of their hair bleached like yours.” She smiles enthusiastically. “Is that like a First Division tradition?”
He smiles affectionately, looking a little surprised by her enthusiasm, and replies.
“They’re just a bunch of copycats” but there’s no resentment in his tone as he says this, quite the opposite.
She smiles slyly and tosses her hair back.
“And what are the perks of being a captain in the force? Aside from, of course, getting attention from lots of pretty girls” she teases, mimicking his earlier tone. “Do you, like, have a big room all to yourself?”
“Of course, it’s practically an apartment, actually. No one comes in without my permission” he says with a smug voice, but immediately adds “I mean, Hasegawa does come in.” He sounds annoyed, which makes her smile even more.
“And what’s your personal space like? I bet you have an expensive setup with all kinds of gear, right?” she teases, smiling.
“I do” he says smugly, almost offended.
“A keyboard that glows?” she continues.
“Of course,” he narrows his eyes at her, sensing her teasing, but she keeps going.
“Two monitors?”
“And an ultrawide” he retorts, and she laughs even louder.
“Gaming chair? Desk mat? Microphone? Headset?” She can’t hide her teasing smile.
“Yeah, yeah, all that, I’ve got it all” he narrows his eyes a little more, but he can’t quite hide the slight smile that appears on his lips.
“Do you have the Nintendo Switch 2?”
“Yes” she laughs. “PlayStation 5 Pro or PS5 Slim?”
“I have both.”
She laughs out loud, throwing her head back; he laughs too and gently nudges her with his shoulder. The gesture immediately makes her feel shy, but she keeps smiling.
“If you have all that in your room at the Ariake base, which is so big it looks like an apartment…” she smiles, leaning in slightly “why do you come here so often to play?”
“Hmmm… it’s like you said, I’m going through a phase where I’m interested in old games. Besides, no one here complains if I spend hours playing.”
“And does that happen in the Defense Force?”
“Yeah, all the damn time.”
“Oh no, who’s always bothering the great Captain Narumi?” she teases further, laughing.
“Mainly Hasegawa.”
“Your vice captain?”
“The man himself.”
“Why?”
“Maybe because he’s unhappy with his own life” he says as if it were nothing; she laughs in surprise.
“He seems like a trustworthy person, you respect him a lot, don’t you?”
“No.”
She laughs; of course he respects him, it’s obvious, he just doesn’t want to admit it.
“Besides…” he adds, “I need to check on Tsubame, that old lady is kind of reckless…” He uses a more affectionate tone of voice when talking about Tsubame; it’s cute, y/n thinks. She imagines that Tsubame is the closest thing Narumi has to a mother figure, the thought makes her heart ache. Should she ask about the orphanage? No, absolutely not, not yet. It’s too personal, and probably painful; she doesn’t have the right to cross that line just yet.
“Do you have a favorite game?” she asks softly, looking at him.
He sighs, thinking, “I don’t think so… I mean, I like pretty much every genre.”
“Do you like Bayonetta?” -a female character who’s super famous among men.
“No” he replies too quickly, making her laugh; of course he likes her.
“Can we stop talking about me now? You’ve already taken too much from me” he says, picking up another game to try on the Dreamcast.
She laughs. “Okay… am I bothering you as much as Hasegawa?”
“Yes” he replies quickly; she laughs.
“But you’re cuter than that bald guy, so I’ll cut you some slack” he says as if it were nothing, unfazed as he examines the game on the TV. Y,N’s heart starts beating much faster; her whole face is burning. Did he really just call her cute? That’s it, let’s set the wedding date, Captain Narumi.
“What about you? What do you like? Besides reading manga” he continues.
She sighs, trying to calm down.
“Well… so many things, actually,” she smiled shyly; talking about herself is harder than trying to get to know him.
“Horror movies”
“Really?”
“Yeah, I used to watch a lot of them at home with my best friend. It was fun, and afterward we’d always sleep over at each other’s houses.”
“You know, we have a lot of old horror movies here at the store” he says. “Have you watched any of them?”
“Oh yeah, I’ve found them, but here’s the thing, now that I live alone, I’m afraid to watch them” she laughs. “When it’s time to go to sleep, I start feeling like I’m being watched. Funny, right?”
“It’s completely normal” he smiles. “So you’re afraid because you believe in ghosts, demons, and things like that?”
“Actually, I’m probably the most skeptical person you’ll ever meet, but my family is Christian. In Christianity, we’re taught to fear ideas that portray evil, like demons and ghosts. I grew up hearing that these things were real, that they were all around me. So… even though I’ve rejected religion now, I think it’s something ingrained in me as a survival mechanism” she explains softly, a little embarrassed; she’s never opened up to anyone like this about her complicated relationship with religion and what it was like to grow up in that environment, especially after her parents’ divorce.
“Yes, well, it’s just how our brain works, it has evolved to view movements in the dark and strange noises as threats to our survival. The association with ghosts or demons is a way of filling the gap left by the lack of a logical explanation for the unknown,” he says softly, almost sweetly, is he trying to comfort her?
“Besides” he continues, “I think beliefs instilled in childhood leave cognitive imprints. Even if you now consciously reject religion, the brain circuits associated with danger and darkness remain active.”
“Narumi-san, are you a religious person?”
“No, I’ve never been. Why did you start rejecting religion?” The question catches her off guard; she doesn’t have a direct answer, so she thinks for a moment, and he waits while looking at her, he doesn’t pressure her, but he doesn’t change the subject either.
“Well… I think it just stopped making sense. After I started paying closer attention to the things that were happening, and continue to happen around the world, the existence of the Christian God stopped making sense to me… It’s not like I woke up one day and decided I wouldn’t believe anymore it just happened. And even if I wanted to, I couldn’t regain that belief. It was like a breach of trust, there’s no fixing it…” She sighs and continues. “But to be honest, I feel at peace.”
He nods. “I see. You should watch it here, surrounded by all this old stuff… great old stuff, by the way. Maybe you’ll see that your fear of danger isn’t justified; it’ll condition your brain... allowing it to learn, through experience, that the situation is tolerable.”
She thinks “Hmm, no, no way. Look around.” They look around, the store at night with the lights off is kind of scary, with all the old manga, games, and movies all around. “I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to sleep afterward.”
He laughs. “You can call me if it gets too hard” he says softly, and she freezes. Can she?
“Would you come?” she asks, surprised.
“Maybe” he teases. She laughs. “You’re mean, Narumi-san.”
“I’d come, y/n” he says her name. It’s the first time she’s heard her name come out of his mouth; it’s almost mesmerizing, such a silly detail, but not to her. “And you can call me Gen” he adds, standing up to put away the games he’d been testing on the old Dreamcast.
“Gen-kun” she says, almost whispering, slowly and softly, as if testing the sound coming from her mouth.
(Gen’s POV of this moment: He looks at her immediately, surprised; his heart skips a beat for some reason. He’s never heard his name spoken so sweetly.)
She continues “I don’t have your number” she says, a little embarrassed. He immediately grabs a piece of paper and a pen from the counter and writes his number down on it. Why does he suddenly seem nervous? she wonders.
“Look, I’m sorry for scaring you earlier. I’ll let you know before I come over next time” she smiles. “It’s okay.”
He slings his backpack over his shoulders. “The neighborhood is generally safe, but make sure to always lock the door to your bedroom upstairs when you’re alone, okay?” His voice sounds firm.
She nods, and he continues, “Go back upstairs; I’ll wait for you to lock it so I can leave.” She smiles and stands up; to be honest, she wanted him to stay longer, she wanted him to stay forever. She gives one last wave and heads for the stairs, climbing up and locking her door.
She doesn’t hear him leave, but she has the feeling that he’s really gone. As she lies down on her bed, her head is spinning; she can’t stop smiling. She feels so turned on and restless; slowly, she slides her fingers between her legs, under the sheer panties she’s wearing, she’s completely soaked. All this just from talking to him? She starts with gentle circles and moans softly, it feels so good, but it’s not him, and she desperately wishes he were there. It doesn’t take long for her to reach her climax, and it doesn’t take long for her to completely drift off afterward. His face is the last thing that crosses her mind.

screaming internally.
I really loved writing this, but I’m still feeling a bit insecure about it. To my few readers, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts on their conversation. 🫶
I was a little worried about mischaracterizing Gen, but I thought that him being more talkative and less guarded just means he’s starting to feel more comfortable around her now.
New chapter in two or three days, thank you. 💕

✮ Dating Gen ✮
Gen Narumi x Reader - Part Three.
An hour after a long conversation with Ms. Tsubame, y/n discovered that she was renting the top floor of the building where the store was located. y/n had already explained that she hadn’t been able to find a place closer to work before because the job she’d been called in for required her to start immediately; that’s why she’d had to move to Tokyo quickly, without much planning.
The neighborhood where they were staying was much closer to her job; Mrs. Tsubame also charged a very reasonable rent for the room. She earned a good salary, but being able to save even more on rent at this stage of her life would be great. Tsubame then takes her to see the upstairs apartment; as she walks, her knee, now clean and bandaged, still hurts and seems to be a little swollen.
When they reached the upper floor, y/n was pleasantly surprised: the room was empty, clean, and quite spacious; the white, freshly painted walls, along with the light-colored floor, gave a sense of lightness. Since it was on the upper floor, there was also a balcony overlooking the street, a bathroom, and a small closet, perfect for everything she needed to store. She could already picture her bed on one side, her desk and work equipment on the other, and she was sure there would be enough space left for at least a small sofa and a TV. Plus, downstairs, in the back of the store, there was a small kitchen and a laundry room she could use; it was perfect.
“Tsubame Obachan, do you live nearby?”
“Yes, three houses down the street. It’s the same house where I spent my childhood with my parents—we’ve lived here our whole lives,” she smiles.
Y/n smiles too and thinks about her family. She misses them and living with them. Tokyo is nice, but it can be pretty lonely.
“Are you and Captain Narumi close?” Y/N asks cautiously; the affection that flashed across the woman’s face earlier when she mentioned him has made her curious.
The woman seems to think for a moment.
“I’d say so. He’s been coming to the store at least twice a week since his early years in the Defense Force,” she smiles. “I remember when he first showed up, carrying an old, broken game console in his arms. I couldn’t fix that one, he was really disappointed but tried to hide it. That kid is very proud, you know, he never lets anyone see him vulnerable. That probably stems from the childhood he had.”
Yes, y/n remembers. Captain Narumi is an orphan; he spent his entire childhood and adolescence in an orphanage. Her heart tightens; it must have been difficult.
Ms. Tsubame continues.
“He never told me much about his life in the Defense Force, but I remember one day he came in and said that from that day on I should treat him with more respect because he’d been appointed the new captain of the First Division,” she laughs out loud. “That brat had a smug smile on his face. So I bought some fried chicken and a cake, and we ate together while he spent hours playing n my old TV,” she sighs and smiles affectionately. “Yes, we're close.”
Y/n smiles too; she feels her eyes well up a little, she's always been emotional.
After a few more minutes of conversation, y/n makes up her mind, there really is no reason for her not to move there. She’d also be lying if she denied that the possibility of seeing Narumi more often didn’t play a part in her decision. She and Mrs. Tsubame agree that she’ll finalize her move within a month, and she asks Mrs. Tsubame to draw up a contract. About four hours after the kaiju alarm went off, the authorities announced that the threat had been neutralized and asked the public to be careful on their way home.
Y/n said goodbye to Mrs. Tsubame, thanked her for taking her in, and hailed a taxi home. She was tired; her head and knee ached, and she just wanted to get home and sleep. However, her mind kept drifting back to Narumi. Part of her had hoped he’d show up at the store again before she left, but no, he didn’t come, at least not while she was there.
About 40 days later, the move was complete; Y/n was officially living upstairs from Mrs. Tsubame’s shop. In all that time, she hadn’t seen Narumi again. She knew he’d been there, but not when she was. She wonders if, for some reason, he might be bothered by the move, maybe it would be better to avoid him? she asks herself.
Now, she’s heading back to her new home after a long day at work. Today was especially exhausting, the team was on a tight deadline, but everything worked out in the end. She can’t wait to go to bed.
The upstairs room turned out to be very comfortable; just as she had expected, she managed to fit all the furniture she needed, including her small sofa and her huge TV.
The building has a door at the back that leads through the kitchen on the lower floor. She decides to go in that way; she opens it and comes face-to-face with him, who has his back to her and is doing something at the stove. She suddenly realizes she’s missed him all this time. He has broad shoulders, and she feels like leaning in and resting against him.
“Hi,” she says sweetly, a little shy. He looks at her.
“Hi.”
“What are you doing?”
“Making coffee… its okay right? Now that you live here, do I need to ask permission?” He uses a slightly sarcastic tone.
“Of course not,” she says sincerely. “You belong here more than I do.”
She steps inside and sighs; she’s really tired.
“Tough day?” he asks
“Yeah, a little”
“Want some coffee?” She hears Tsubame laughing out front; she’s probably gossiping with the neighbors. “Yeah, I’d love some. I’ll just put my bag up top” he nods
She quickly goes upstairs, puts her bag down, and looks at herself in the mirror, she doesn’t look too bad. She comes back down and finds him with the coffee and Tsubame in the store; they’re sitting in front of the TV, as usual, looking at some old video game consoles. The store also has several old movies. Y.N. discovered them a few days ago, the place is like a museum.
She walks over and sits down with them. Narumi pours her some coffee, which makes her stomach tighten a little; as he reaches toward her, his fingers brush against hers, and she can’t help but let out a soft sigh.
“Tough day, sweetie?” Tsubame asks. “A little,” Y/N smiles.
“What are you going to do today? It’s Friday; you should go out.”
“Oh, no, I’m too tired for that” she smiles. Narumi is looking at something on his phone.
Tsubame gets up to pour more coffee and blurts out, “What are you staring at on that phone, Narumi? Do you have a girlfriend now? It’s about time, to be honest” she laughs out loud. The question makes y/n sit up straight, does he? she wants to hear it, will he answer?
Of course not; he just rolls his eyes and puts his phone away. Does he have a girlfriend? A boyfriend? Someone he’s casually seeing?
It wouldn’t be a surprise, he’s young and attractive, and he’s a guy; guys are always seeing someone, right? Ugh, she feels like she’s been doused with cold water, and he didn’t even answer the question. She takes small sips of her coffee, and Tsubame decides she’s the next target.
“What about you?” she looks at Tsubame. “Where’s your boyfriend?” Her eyes widen.
“I don’t have one.”
“Why not?” she stumbles, why doesn’t she have a boyfriend? Does she want a boyfriend? She definitely wants Narumi, but lots of girls do, right? She’s no different or any more special than any of them. The thought makes her face flush; she’s putting this man on such a high pedestal that she feels she’ll end up hurting herself when he simply fails to live up to her expectations in some way, and it wouldn’t be his fault at all.
“I… just haven’t met anyone yet…”
Tsubame continues her attack “Well, you should date. It doesn’t even have to be anything serious, just enjoy your youth and beauty while you have them… you know… I’ve always been in favor of women allowing themselves to have lots of sexual experiences.”
The comment almost makes Y/N choke.
Tsubame laughs loudly. “Don’t you agree, Narumi?”
“Cut it out, you crazy old lady,” he replies, looking at Y/N. “Get used to it, she does this all the time. She’s a gossip,” and he goes back to drinking his coffee. Tsubame laughs loudly and doesn’t deny it
Y/N smiles affectionately; older people tend to be more direct, and she knows that. Tsubame then walks away to talk to a neighbor who’s sweeping the street on the other side. Y/N takes the opportunity to talk to Narumi
“Are you off duty today?”
“Yes.”
“Do you have any plans?”
“Nah, I’m just going to game all night.”
Y/N smiles.
“How do days off work in the Defense Force? What are you free to do?”
He thinks for a moment
“We’re free from training and meetings…”
“What if the alarm goes off?”
“Then we can decide whether or not to report for duty”
“Even though you’re the captain?”
“Yes”
“Has that ever happened? Has the alarm ever gone off while you were off duty?”
“Yes, many times.”
“What did you decide?”
“To join, of course,” he says as if it were obvious; y/n smiles.
“Even if you’re, say, standing in line to buy a game you’ve been really wanting and that just came out?” He looks at her as if she’d just discovered something about him; she notices and laughs even more.
“And the vice-captain of the third division, Hoshina Soshiro?”
His expression hardens. “What about him?”
“What’s he like?”
“Why?”
“Just curious.”
“Why are you curious about him specifically?”
“Why are you getting defensive?” she fires back.
“I’m not,” he says, though he is; she continues.
“He seems like… an interesting man.” Actually, she meant to say she was curious because Vice-Captain Hoshina was also a very handsome man who was always making fans sigh.
“He’s an idiot, that’s what he is,” he blurts out
“Really? What kind of idiot?” He seems to regret letting the comment slip a little, and Y/N continues
“He seems like a good person.”
He rolls his eyes and says, “He is, the picture of perfection.”
Y/N smiles; she’s made a new discovery: Captain Narumi doesn’t like Vice Captain Hoshina from the third division. She doesn’t know exactly why, but it’s fucking hilarious.

note: that's it for today!! :))) i hope everyone who's reading is enjoying it. let me know what you think <3
next chapter tomorrow!! our reader and gen are going to get to know each other better. :p
Have you ever heard of kintsugi?
Before I get into that... when I finished reading the Kn8 manga (don't worry, I'll let you know before the spoilers start 😆) i was left with such a warm feeling after Hoshina's character arc.
Honestly, i could spend hours talking about everything I felt during his fight against Kaiju No. 12
⚠️ Spoilers below
I just love how ironic it is that Hoshina's greatest life lesson came from Kaiju No. 10. Isn't it funny how sometimes the people you least expect end up teaching you the lessons you need the most?
Then, during the biggest battle of his life against Kaiju No. 12, those words finally came back to him.
He wasn't just fighting Kaiju No. 12.
He was fighting himself.
His life wasn't meant to be just about living up to other people's expectations or proving his worth.
By the end of the arc, I felt like Hoshina had to make peace with himself. With the version of himself that had spent so long trying to feel useful and worthy.
Only to realize that none of it really matters if you never allow yourself to enjoy the journey.
✨ Aaand Spoilers end here!
So I kept thinking...
It reminded me of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold instead of hiding the cracks.
The cracks become part of its beauty.
Maybe it's about filling your own scars with gold instead of trying to hide them.
And learning to treasure them because they're part of who you are.
Long story short… I love this man way too much. 😂
Sorry for the little overthinking spiral, but that's everything that was going through my head while I was drawing.
End of my fake TED Talk. 🫡

Gen Narumi x Reader - Part Two.
About a month after the encounter, which she now recalled with a certain indignation, she decided to go back to the same shop. It was a Saturday, the weather was fine, and she wanted to have a wander around Tokyo. Having lived her whole life in the countryside, she simply wanted to enjoy a normal, fun day on her own in the big city. She hadn’t expected to bump into him again; she’d thought the encounter had been one of those rare coincidences. Besides, the shop was really interesting, and she loved manga, she was just looking for something new to read as a hobby.
The job that had led her to move to the bustling city involved creating creative covers for TV series and films at an up-and-coming graphic design firm. They’d recently managed to secure a major contract with a streaming platform, and much of the promotional artwork for the catalogue was now being produced by the team she was part of. It was hard work, but she enjoyed it and it paid well.
Upon arriving, she comes face to face with an elderly lady – perhaps the owner? She wonders. Y/N smiles; the old lady was stylish, smoking a cigarette slowly whilst staring intently at what looked like an old games console. She had very short red hair and was wearing a T-shirt featuring The Jacks, a famous Japanese rock band from the 1960s – Y/N’s grandmother was also a fan. She approaches her. “Hi,” she says, smiling. The woman looks at her. “Oh, hi darling, do you need any help with anything?”
“I’m just having a look… my name is y/n”
“You can call me Tsubame”
y/n smiles. “Tsubame? Like the bird?”
“Yes, my dad chose it; he liked birds too,” the owner smiles and stubs out her cigarette
“So, I’ve noticed that most of the comics and games are old”
“Yes, it’s all old stuff here, including me,” she laughs heartily, “I inherited his collection when he passed away”
“Do you repair old consoles as well?” Y/N asks, referring to what she was holding
“Yes, I try to bring them back to life.” Y/N then nods and starts wandering around the room; a few minutes later, someone bursts through the door like a whirlwind
“Hey, Babā, so, do you think it can be fixed?”
It was him, Narumi again. Y/N immediately wanted to hide, and something inside her stomach twisted
The old lady replies, “Where did you find this?”
“I bought it online. If it works, I’ve got a few games to test out.” Y/N tries to sneak a peek, paying closer attention to the console, and realises it’s a Dreamcast; she gasps in amazement
Narumi finally notices her presence and looks in her direction, causing her to flinch slightly; she smiles sweetly
The shopkeeper then says, “Let’s give it a go; I think that’s it.” So they both move towards a TV and plug the console in. Y/N’s curiosity gets the better of her and she steps closer to have a look too. After a few tense seconds, the screen lights up; the shopkeeper and Narumi let out whistles of satisfaction, which makes Y/N smile affectionately
The owner looks over and flashes a broad smile at Narumi, saying, “You’ll have to stop the kaiju from destroying my shop because of this, Captain.”
He smiles back. “You know I will.”
y/n finds herself watching the whole exchange with a genuinely silly smile on her face, until the two of them look at her
“Do you like old-school consoles too?” asks Mrs Tsubame
“Well, I think they’re cool, but I prefer manga,” she smiles, a little shy, noticing Narumi’s gaze on her. He looks handsome, he always does, dressed casually again, but without the cap hiding his hair; she’d never realised before just how tall he is. Watching him a little longer, she thinks he probably likes men’s fashion, perhaps? The clothes he’s wearing are expensive, famous streetwear brands that she recognises, as well as a few necklaces and rings on his fingers. Goodness, has she already mentioned how handsome he is? It’s almost unfair
To be honest, she thinks, it’s quite interesting to observe the famous Captain Narumi like this; apart from his obvious intense interest in games, does he also care about his style? Right, come to think of it, his hair should have given enough clues before that, yes, he does care about style, half bleached and half natural; yes, our strongest captain was stylish.
Y/N smiles and imagines that he must also wear an expensive cologne; he’s got his back to her now, and she finds herself staring at the nape of his neck. Blimey, she feels like walking up to him and sniffing him – this totally inappropriate thought snaps her back to reality; she was behaving like a pervert.
She glances to the side and sees Tsubame watching her watch Narumi. Shit. She smiles to cover it up and goes back to wandering around the shop
About an hour later, she settles on ten different manga titles; they all looked very interesting. For the first time, she could really see the extent of the shop’s collection; it was incredible how many books and games it contained, all old and second-hand, but still in good condition
As she approaches the till, Narumi is still there, on the other side, glued to the video game
She looks around for Tsubame; she needs to pay for the manga, but she can’t see her anywhere
She stood there for a moment, deciding whether she should look for her or simply wait
“That old lady’s gone. She always leaves the shop on her own when I’m here. If you want to take these, just write your name and contact details on the piece of paper on the counter. She doesn’t sell anything here, she just rents them out. You can pay when you come to return them.”
She held her breath the whole time he was speaking. God, he really was so handsome, and his voice was deep and steady.
“All right then,” she replies, still nervous. “My name is y/n.” He hadn’t asked, but she carried on talking; she wanted to keep talking to him, she wanted to keep hearing his voice.
“So it’s true. Captain Narumi’s second love, after killing kaijus, is games” she said, trying to smile a little; her cheeks were burning
He pauses the game, looks at her slowly, and watches her for a moment; she holds his gaze but wishes a hole would open up in the floor so she could hide
“Are you one of them?” One of them? y/n thinks, one of whom?
“What do you mean?”
“Just… don’t take any photos of me or post anything about this place.” He looks very serious.
She flinches. What was he on about?
“Why would I do that?” She’s starting to feel offended.
“You lot always do that.”
“Who’s ‘you lot’?” She’s genuinely annoyed and confused; suddenly she realises – he really thinks she’s one of his stalkers.
“Oh… look, I’m not stalking you.”
“How do you know about the video games?”
“Everyone knows.”
“Oh, really?” He sounds indifferent, which only makes her more annoyed.
“Yes, you’re famous, remember? There’s everything about you on the internet.”
“So… you go looking for facts about me on the internet?” Still with that lazy, indifferent look.
“No” She does, who could blame her? After all, she’s just a normal girl, like so many others, with an innocent crush on one of the most handsome and famous captains in the Defence Force
She becomes more aware of just how nervous she is, her cheeks burning even more
She sighs. “Look, I really am not—just an ordinary citizen who respects you for your commitment to protecting our country,” she says quickly, forcing a smile, trying to keep a straight face
He sees right through her and smiles amusedly, then goes back to watching the game.
God, he was as annoying as he was attractive.
“You seemed more sociable on TV”
“Well, I’m not giving an interview right now, am I?” he says without looking at her
She then decides to leave the shop, but remembers she needs to write down the names of ten manga on a piece of paper. She considers simply giving up and leaving them all there, but no, she’d come for that, she wouldn’t leave empty-handed. She goes back and starts writing
When she’s finished, she looks at him one last time and subtly pouts. Something holds her back for a moment; she knows what it is. Even though she feels embarrassed, she liked the feeling of his eyes on her, she wanted him to look at her one last time too.
He looks.
She holds her breath again and turns quickly, walking away. She hates herself.
She’s walked about 10 metres when suddenly the kaiju alert sounds so loudly that it makes her crouch down in the middle of the street, covering her ears. Everyone around her starts walking quickly; she begins to panic. Her house was a long way from where she was, which shelter should she go to?
The street starts to get busier, with cars stopping and people getting out, and the shops around her slamming their doors shut. Someone bumps into her, causing her to fall; pain immediately shoots through her. She looks down – her knee is bleeding. She was wearing a skirt, which had probably caused her to flash her knickers. Had the circumstances been any different, she would have allowed herself to feel embarrassed about it. Damn it. She looks around, everyone is heading off in different directions. Where the hell is she supposed to go?
The alarm sounds again; it seems louder, it’s frightening, it’s as if it were an alarm heralding the end of the world. That’s how she feels every time she hears it; it never becomes any less terrifying. She trembles and looks around again when suddenly she feels someone grabbing her arm and pulling her; she looks up, startled, it’s him, Narumi. For a moment, everything around her seems to vanish, she feels a wave of relief; a hood covers part of his face
“Go back to the shop" is all he says, and leaves.
She doesn’t think twice and does as he says, his touch still burning on her arm.
When she gets there, Tsubame waves as if to tell her to hurry; she runs and goes inside.
“Thanks. I didn’t know where to go.”
“It’s all right. I figured you weren’t from round here, as I’ve never seen you in this neighbourhood before.”
“Shouldn’t we go to a shelter?”
"Not for now. The kid said the kaiju is within the Third Division’s jurisdiction, so it’ll most likely be up to them to neutralise it."
“But even so, did he have to go?”
“Well, he needs to be prepared in case the First Division needs to help out.”
“Do we have any news yet on the type of kaiju?”
“Not yet.”
Y/N feels more relaxed on hearing that the main threat is far away, but whenever a kaiju appears, a sense of tension hangs in the air.
She glances towards the TV; he’s left his console behind, the game paused on the screen. She feels a wave of affection and concern wash over her and smiles, a little sadly.
“He’s left his video game behind.”
“It’s all right, he’ll be back later; that little rascal always comes back,” Tsubame smiles; y/n could swear she saw a flicker of affection cross her face too
Right, she takes a deep breath; he always comes back.

I kept thinking the story was a bit silly, but I found myself giggling while writing it, lol. It was actually really fun. Let me know what you think.
✮ Dating Gen ✮
Gen Narumi x Reader - Part One.
It was a normal day; she was feeling good after a long, tedious day at work, a day which, just like every other day over the last four months, she hadn’t been able to stop thinking about him for even an hour: her boyfriend, none other than Gen Narumi, captain of the First Division of Japan’s Anti-Kaiju Defence Force.
The way they’d met still made her smile a little when she thought about it. It was a Friday evening and it was raining, she’d missed the bus that was due to take her home, so she ran quickly into the first shop she saw to shelter from the weather and try to hail a taxi. She’d only recently started this job, so she didn’t know the area very well.
As she looked around, she realised the place was a shop selling vintage manga and games, the whole place was quite mesmerising. The atmosphere was lit by a yellow light that created a sense of intimacy, and the smell of paper and dust hung in the air, making her take a deep breath and savour the feeling of calm. The shop itself wasn’t very big, but it contained row upon row of manga and games, which seemed both jumbled and organised at the same time. She found herself looking around, engrossed, the fact that she needed to call someone to take her home completely forgotten for a moment.
She began to walk around; the shop seemed empty, and she couldn’t see any shop assistants or the owner anywhere nearby. As she turned a corner, lost in thought whilst looking at the manga on display, she suddenly came face to face with a man crouching down, peering intently at the lower shelves as if searching for something very important.
He then, just as surprised as she was by the interruption, looked up at her, it was him, Captain Narumi. She recognised him immediately, how could she not? The man was practically a celebrity, his handsome, serious face was always splashed across magazines, newspapers and television. He even had a group of fans who followed him fanatically whenever they could, taking photos of his personal life away from the battles against the immense kaiju.
It was common for the captains and deputy captains of the Defence Force to attract the attention of the general public, most of them had always had to deal with a legion of passionate fans. Narumi himself never hid the fact that he enjoyed the attention, on the contrary, he was constantly getting into stupid online arguments with people who posted hateful comments directed at him and his division. Much of the public, whilst respecting him as a captain, thought him immature, y/n, unlike them, always found him absolutely hilarious because of it.
He was dressed casually, in a black hoodie and grey trousers, his cap turned backwards, he was drop-dead gorgeous. She stood there for a few seconds, staring at him, wondering if it really was him there, crouching in front of her, she could have sworn she saw his expression shift subtly to one of slight irritation. Even so, she didn’t care in the slightest she was far too stunned for that.
“Captain Narumi?” she said. His expression didn’t change; completely indifferent, he replied, “No,” and went back to watching the games. Looking back, she thinks she should have felt offended, but that wasn’t what happened, she laughed, loudly, in fact, letting out a burst of laughter she couldn’t hold back, and said, “Yes, it’s you,” crouching down to his level and looking straight into his face with a silly expression.
He recoiled slightly as he looked at her and said, “I don’t take photos.”
“I’m not going to ask for one.”
“I don’t give autographs either.”
“I don’t need one.”
“So why are you still here?”
Suddenly she realised how she was behaving, how she was invading his personal space
“Oh, I’m sorry… I just… ” She was feeling embarrassed now, she could feel her face starting to burn and, for the first time, she didn’t know what to say.
After staring at her for a few seconds, observing her fluster, he slowly stands up and says, “Have a good night,” and leaves, taking with him what looked like an old game from the 2000s.
She took a deep breath, realising that he’d probably thought she was one of his stalkers. She thought about going after him to say she was just an ordinary fan, but felt even more embarrassed when she remembered his annoyed expression, she probably wouldn’t see him again, would she?
Wrong.
