Between Sunday and yesterday we did a little bit of celebrating- Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, Brent’s birthday, no cavities… we ordered our favorite @cornerpocketfw wings for the Super Bowl on Sunday since we were all home. Monday we shopped for valentine’s day and celebrated a little early with some heart-shaped @giordanospizza since Kaden didn’t have to work. Cash and Finn both had dentist appts this week and no cavities!!🙌🏼 (I go today and there will be no celebrating that.😭😭😭) I didn’t make Brent a cake for his birthday because my cake stand is broken 😞 so we just had leftover wings and cheesecake from Sunday and a little low-key valentines/birthday celebration. And in usual Brent fashion- he spoiled me with a @nespresso I’ve had my eye on for forever!!😍🤩 I think we all had a happy Valentine’s Day, and I hope your birthday was great even though it was nothin spectacular. This is just going to be a post about our loyal protector- Eberhardt “Eby” von Wolfstal… Wallen started climbing the stairs New Year’s Eve. Sometime in early January I found her laying in the middle of the stairs which I thought was odd because that isn’t her spot. She always lays at the top of the stairs up against our bedroom door or at the bottom of the landing, right in front of the first step. Those are her spots. Always. Well on January 24th I saw her laying in the middle of the stairs again when Wallen was climbing up them, and I snapped a picture because I thought it was so odd she was laying in that spot again. And I thought that was why Wally was climbing the stairs- to get to her. This has happened a couple more times, but today I was switching the laundry over and heard Wallen whining like he was stuck so I went to look for him and sure enough he was on the stairs and there was Eby again. He was mad he couldn’t go any further up the stairs because she was in his way. Now this is the 3rd or 4th time she’s done this, and she is totally blocking him from going any further up the stairs. What a wild and unexpected way she is protecting him that I never even thought about until I saw it again today. That’s why she’s been in that spot on the stairs and sometimes I didn’t put 2 & 2 together because Wally was already back down the stairs before I saw it. She’s been protecting him this whole time. The first picture about sums up Wally’s 1st birthday experience 🤣 he was very overwhelmed. There were lots of tears. We had to save the gift opening for home when he was back to his happy self. But we are so so grateful for everyone who came out to celebrate our little homeslice. And thank you for all the gifts!! He loved all of them, and he has had such a great day just cruising around and chillin at home playing. HUGE thank you’s to @kadnev for making all the pizzas for us and to all the Auburn Pizza King staff for being the best ever! This past year has brought a lot of change to our family- ya know, the crazy kind that comes with raising teenagers and babies. But so much of it has remained the same- just look at that squishy baby face- nothing has changed. But I will tell you this has been the fastest year of my life. How we survived the week- post holiday gatherings and germs… barely. But hopefully next week will be much better thanks to their daddy- the real MVP- who took all 3 little boys to urgent care this morning because 🆘 🏳️ I had to work 12 hours last night and a double today, but it’s been 2 steps forward, 1 step back all week and everyone seemed much worse last night and this morning so we had to get them in somewhere. We don’t have a village, but I’m so thankful for our little family we’ve created in times like this 🤍 @kadnev so helpful to Cash last night with his ear pain while Brent was up with Wallen. @laylaevans2917 helping this morning because she had plans and would be gone this afternoon/evening. Kaden rocking Wally, refilling drinks, getting snacks, and watching movies with them while Brent picked up their meds. Wiping all the snotty noses and drool. Changing diapers and clothes. Tough way to end the season tonight… lost in the 2nd game of sectionals to a tough Snider team. Just 0-1. We know very well that 1 is all it takes sometimes. But tonight that 1 was not in our favor. So proud of these boys, especially our 11 seniors. I’m sad this is it for them. I am so thankful for not only their talent on the field, but who they are- they took Kaden under their wings as the new kid from Lakewood last year and never once made him feel like he didn’t belong to their team. Thankful for this girl. And her attitude. And her friends and brothers to hype her up these last few weeks because she’s really been down. Literally. Achilles and post tibial tendinitis in her right foot. So she’s been out for the rest of her cross country season. She did so dang well. And should be running in regionals tonight. But she can’t 😞☹️🥺 her follow up is tomorrow and then hopefully she can start physical therapy and be on the road to recovery. Rough week=understatement My poor girl suffered a really bad concussion on Tuesday and it’s been an extremely tough recovery for her. It’s actually REALLY hard to see your child experience some of the symptoms of a concussion. It was quite scary. Give me all the blood and puke. I can handle that- no problem. But not a head injury. There’s a fine line between overreacting and under-reacting, but I’m so glad we got her checked out. Her head CT was negative and we have just been managing the symptoms as best we can. The headaches and nausea have been the worst. But the hardest part was seeing her so out of sorts. They asked at the hospital if we were her parents and it took her a minute to respond with a yes 😳 they asked for her name and birthdate before they could give her any Zofran and she started spelling her name. Knowing her right from left and following simple directions has been a challenge. As of yesterday those kind of symptoms have seemed to subside. She’s still suffering from frequent headaches but the nausea is getting better. She is NOT a very good patient and does not do “bored” well. She never has. She’s had an extremely hard time just laying low and resting. She knows it’s what’s best and she knows that’s the only way her brain will heal, but it’s hard. She’s worried about being behind in school, missing out on things like watching movies with us and texting with her friends, playing with her brothers and the pups. Dr. Levenda said it could be 2 weeks or it could be 2 years (Oh I pray not!) before she’s completely healed. She has been coloring, listening to music and audiobooks, I did her nails, we’ve been to Costco, church and a friend’s house for a bit. It doesn’t take much to do her in but she’s been happy to get out of the house here and there. She will be returning to school tomorrow. Please pray for complete healing, for her mind to just be at ease, for her to not worry about all she’s missing out on whether it be school or socially, for her to rest when she needs to, and for her follow up appt next week. P.S. I bought her several aromatherapy heat and ice masks and wraps, but she was NOT amused with the whole head ice pack I got her. 🤣 https://www.instagram.com/p/B87-2qNA04o/?igshid=6gdtzyrncijh
