One of my favorite TV shows right now is The Hunting Party on Peacock, and it’s also the one I chose for my design project. What I love about it is how it creates such a tight-knit fanbase—people are really invested in the characters, the mystery, and especially all the hidden clues. That level of obsession has definitely helped me understand the concept of “angry fandom.”

It’s so cool that The Hunting Party has built such a dedicated fandom—those kinds of shows really do bring fans together in a unique way. And you're totally right, once people are that invested, even the smallest plot twist (or cancellation 😭) can cause major waves. Definitely a perfect pick for your project!

Share an example of your experience as a fan of a show that was cancelled. Help us feel the feels.

A few years ago I watched a show called Archive 81 on Netflix. It was about an archivist who was hired to restore tapes from the 90’s. He ends up finding crazy stuff and ends up getting cult-ish. I was so into this show and was recommending it to everyone. It ended up on a cliff hanger right at the climax of the show. Then it got cancelled…. I was so upset because i kept thinking about the ending and how there was no conclusion and no explanation…

The show runner ended up giving some information on where the show was supposed to go in the next season which was nice, but it doesn’t fill that hole for me..

It’s the worst when a show ends before it really gets to explore its full potential, especially when the plot and characters are so gripping. Based on your description, it sounded like it had all the drama and twists to be a total hit—honestly, it’s wild it didn’t get renewed! I might have to check it out anyway

One of my favorite tv shows currently is called Tell Me Lies and steams on Hulu. Being such a fan of the show I could only imagine the backlash that would come if the show was canceled. I’m not one to leave angry fan comments or messages, but I can’t say I blame the people who do! When you get invested in something, hearing it’ll be finished is upsetting

One of my favorite shows called Cruel Intentions was cancelled after just 1 season! It was on Amazon Prime and was based off of the 90s movie with the same name! The series followed a set of twisted step siblings who were greek life royalty at their university. I highly recommend if you like good drama tv! I don’t understand why it wasn’t renewed for season 2! My roommates and I are all obsessed.

I honestly enjoyed the content creation for my guide because the content is something I enjoy myself! I chose influencers who’s content I consume, which makes it content i’d be likely to produce if I was lucky enough to become a social media influencer one day! I learned that it can definitely be tricky to fit content creation into guidelines that help boost engagement, but it worth it in the long run!

A tip I have in my guide is to post when your audience is active if you’re looking to increase engagement! In my research, I determined the audience is most active friday evenings and weekends! Posting during these hours will make your posts more likely to be seen!

Having a good revision process is going to serve me in so many ways. For this class, I have really begun to understand the value in having a ton of SEPARATE rough drafts to look back on, and running up my google storage 10 fold. It's incredibly helpful though. It has helped me map my own thinking and see more value in my initial uneducated questions and points of interest that I got to circle back around to by the end once I had all my pieces in place. I am someone who typically has 1 doc where I revise and it was once a draft now a final. Separation has helped me organize my thoughts a whole lot better, and I will absolutely take that with me in all my drafting.

It’s so cool how you’ve embraced keeping separate drafts—it really does make such a difference in being able to see your own growth and thinking process. I relate to the “one doc turned final” method too, but now I see how helpful it is to track your progress through different stages. Definitely a habit worth carrying forward!

I learned that content strategy is often directly impacted by engagement. The posts that get the most online attention are the posts that creators make the most because they recognize the patterns of engagement. This could be post type, video or image. It could also be the genre of the post. It could be a multitude of factors that increase engagement that can be analyzed to guide content strategy. Content strategy is also driven by how much a creator is willing to share about their life and the lengths they will go to get that engagement.

Yes, exactly! It’s so interesting how closely content strategy is tied to engagement. Creators really do start to pick up on those patterns and adjust their content accordingly. It’s all about finding what resonates with the audience—and like you said, it often comes down to how much someone is willing to share and experiment with to keep people interested!

How will having a good revision process help you moving forward beyond this class?

Having a good revision process is a vital part to success. Just like having a good routine you follow everyday, having a good revision process can be applied to other aspects of your of life whenever necessary. Having a good revision process could reinforce discipline, promote good habits, and boost skills like being able to work through mistakes, finding room for improvement, improving consistency by following a reliable process, and more. These aspects build character and skills that can later be used elsewhere.

Something that suprised me to learn about content strategy would be that every little choice you make has an effect. Whether it is the type of post, the time of day, the day of the week, the aesthetic, is there music, are there hashtags etc. My RQ and hypothesis had to do with posting frequency impacting engagement, and in doing the research I realized that there are so many minute details that can impact post engagement.

Im rethinking style to design my H2WG because with this assignment we need to focus on the content creator themselves, making sure that the language I use and the examples I give are catered to them. When making the project I had to keep in mind the assumption that they already knew the basics in the field!
