I know why laurent in your story is like he is but I really need damen to just cuddle him kiss him and make love with him as long as it takes for laurent to belive he is loved by him ! And I need it before the wedding. Please just spoiler this one thing for all of us so my heart can stop bleeding for like few moments. Yeah im too invested in this story and these people 😭😭 still love youre work , amazing chapter and get better as soon as possible with youre ankle ! ❤️❤️❤️

So I cannot reassure you, anon, except to say that the scene will not be awful or traumatic and it’s something I’ve planned for a long time.

Also happy to report I only had pain for the first two days after surgery and none since. One more week until I’m allowed to walk on it.

I WILL be scootin’ in on my knee scooter this Friday to watch the Hadestown pro shot in theaters tho.

While writing for Paper Crowns does it ever feel surreal or nostalgic to you considering that the story takes place during the 80s-90s?   

It is SO nostalgic!! As I’ve said before - I was born in 85; I’m in the canon age group for these characters. I graduated high school in 04 and college in 08. I remember a lot about the culture of the time, and I live in the south, to boot, so it kind of feels like I’m right there. It’s been a lot of fun!

So far what would you say is the biggest difference between canon!Neil and Raven!Neil in Paper Crowns? Do the other three Ravens act any differently with him around?

Hmm this is interesting!

I try to keep in mind that the Crowns version of Neil has a different sort of trauma than canon Neil. He hasn’t grown up lying, fleeing, hiding, and lying some more; instead he’s been in the Nest and from the get-go there’s no ambiguity about what will happen to him if he feels to perform. He’s still a mouthy shit but he thinks he knows how to choose his battles - so he’s slightly more likely to follow orders and play along with Riko than canon!Neil is.

With Neil added to the Nest, less of Riko’s attention is on Kevin, and later, Jean. Neil can kind of keep the peace/redirect the abuse more often than not so in some ways (mostly Jean) things are a little less brutal than in canon. However, another side effect of Neil’s presence is that Jean isn’t as attached to Kevin as he is in canon. He still has a crush, don’t get me wrong, but he has spent less one on one time with Kev because he has his own partner - and because Riko is so fascinated by and obsessed with Neil, the “perfect court” is more of a set than it is in canon, where only Kev and Riko seem to get the press.

Had ankle surgery yesterday, staying with my parents while I heal. Not being able to get around on my own is already annoying and I already miss my cats.

The pain just feels like normal though? Just before the surgery it would let up sometimes and now it’s more constant.

I’m going to try to work on my book while I’m laid up.

@allroadsleadtoromy I hope you don’t mind me answering this way but it comes up every once in a while and people are generally curious so…

I just feel like I connect better with the characters and story when I’m physically writing in a notebook with a good pen. When I type straight into the computer I’m never as happy with the finished product. Plus the act of typing it up gives me an extra chance to throw in any story edits.

And… I do find it satisfying when the pen and paper are just right and my handwriting looks nice. ❤️
