Kinktober is an October prompt challenge that’s been running in one form or another since 2016. There are three prompts for each day in October, and the challenge is to use one (or more!) of the prompts to create something for that day. If you don’t want to use any of the three daily prompts, you can swap them out for the bonus prompts at the bottom of the prompt list.

The 12 Days of Kinkmas is an event that has been around for a few years, which involves creating kinky works over the holiday period. We've put together a prompt list with one prompt for each day, which can be used as inspiration for artwork, one-shots, chapters of longer works, or anything else you can think of. The daily prompts can be swapped out for the bonus prompts, or you can add the bonus prompts in wherever you like.

What's the difference between Humiliation and Degradation? Are they just kinda two shades of the same thing?

There is a lot of overlap between humiliation and degradation. One distinction is that humiliation tends to be rooted in embarrassment. It's very subjective and will depend on what an individual finds humiliating - the same activity might be intensely humiliating for one person but not humiliating at all for another person.

Degradation tends to revolve more around the idea of one person being 'less than' the other. It might involve being treated like an object or otherwise dehumanized.

But there are a lot of different possible interpretations of these two prompts, and there are lots of scenarios that would work equally well for both!

I had a question about the limits of animal play? Is it where both/all characters are fully animals, anthropomorphic animals, humans with physical animal characteristics (ears, tails, etc.), humans with animal traits (like omegaverse), or simply humans pretending to be animals?

We've answered another ask explaining what we meant by animal play - we were thinking of animal roleplay (humans pretending to be animals) when we wrote that prompt. But all of the interpretations you mentioned are welcome as well, as are the many other possible ways of interpreting that prompt!

What is aftercare? I’ve never heard of that fetish. Is it related to sexy nurse/doctor role playing?

Aftercare isn't a fetish in itself. It refers to what might happen after a real-life BDSM scene, where participants take care of each other's emotional and/or physical needs. It can involve cuddling, sex, performing first aid, having a snack, and lots of other things.

There's no hidden meaning here - we were thinking of 'mirror sex' as 'sex in front of a mirror'. Any other interpretations are welcome though!

Is there an “official” kinktober list anywhere, or is this just like. The biggest one there is out there, or what? I’m very curious ^^’

The original, "official," Kinktober posted lists from 2016 to 2023. They didn't post a list in 2024, so we decided to make a list for 2025!

What does animal play entail?

(...And should I apologize for that pun...)

We're using 'animal play' as an umbrella term for the following types of roleplay:

Petplay, where a person roleplays being a puppy/kitten/bunny/pony etc.

'Human cow' roleplay or anything along those lines

Other types of animal roleplay - why limit yourself to domesticated animals!

There are plenty of other ways to interpret this prompt, though - transformation kink, primal kink, etc.

(And no, you should never apologise for puns, anon.)

Somnophilia refers to a person being sexually interested in a sleeping person, or a person being interested in the idea of someone having sex with them while they're asleep.
