Common misconceptions surrounding the care of monsters

modern persephone headcanons that absolutely no one asked for

she splits her time still, but the seasons fluctuate more than they used to.

she is weaker most of her time up top; not sick, per se but her powers aren’t nearly what they used to be when the earth was less industrialized

she spends most of her free time in parks or in the back garden of the home she’s made for herself in a concrete jungle

she owns a flower shop on a nondescript corner of a nondescript city and it’s known all over that her flowers are the brightest and best even if it’s only open six months out of the year

there’s a cafe in the flower shop too and she pays orpheus to perform there.

very big fighter for environmental rights - not like, greenpeace levels but her charity donations are to the organizations protecting the earth and the environment

down below she’s stronger; there is always death and she looks forward to the winters she can spend in peace without fighting to protect the earth

though she sneaks visits to her husband a lot that’s why there’s random cold days in the spring or summer

he sneaks up sometimes too and they curl up in a booth in the back of her cafe/flower shop until closing time

Fried Honey Cakes

🥞🌸🥞🌸🥞🌸🥞🌸🥞

for Beltane

1/2 cup sweet white wine

2 tablespoons sugar

1 egg

1 cup honey

2/3 cup flour

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

Oil for frying

1/8 teaspoon salt

Beat the wine and egg in a medium bowl. Combine the flour, cinnamon, salt & sugar in a small bowl. Stir into the egg mixture. Let stand 30 minutes. Combine the honey & nutmeg in a small bowl. Heat 1/2-inch of the oil in a frying pan until hot, but not smoking. Drop the batter into the oil 1 tablespoon at a time; fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Dip into the honey.

Yield: 1 ½ Dozen

These cakes are similar to ones women in the past would make the night before Beltane. If you practice faerie magick you may want to put some outside with a bowl of honey milk sprinkled with flowers or sweet herbs. This recipe is much like one my mother used when I was a child when she would make fry bread, minus the wine. If you find it's too sweet for you, 'flitter bread' was another favorite of mine, she made it with leftover dough from making biscuits in the morning by frying the dough instead of baking it. We would then dip the warm bread in a mix of butter and honey. I'm sure it's not a healthy food but it's so delicious.
