Got motivated by the professor to read books based on a list of books that all English majors should read. I just finished Slaughterhouse-Five, The Catcher in the Rye, and The Little Prince. I'll probably never finish the Bible. Now I'm starting 1984 and A Farewell to Arms. Why are all these books so depressing? Why is literature so depressing? Why do I like depressing things?

I've really been into folk this past week. (I want to be reborn as a musician in my next life.) I think I'll start looking into local folk and acoustic artists for live shows to feed the need.

In other news, I finally went to the public library for the first time in 4 years and I felt so outdated and ancient. Since when did they upgraded libraries? It's so spacious, bright, and sleek compared to my memories of dust, clutter, and dimness. My library card had also been expired for 3 years without my knowledge, I didn't know how to use the fancy touch screen kiosks, I couldn't figure out how to check out a book through a computer. In an ironic turn of age, it was an older gentleman who showed me how.
