Pleased to announce that I am officially at the fix-it fic stage of grief with Mass Effect. Like I cannot fix the ending, I know in my soul it's perfect and the only way it could have ended, but I damn sure can change a lot of things leading up to the ending.

You know I really wish there was a way you could play Mass Effect 3 in which Shepard spends basically the entire game working under an assumption that anyone still working for Cerberus at this point is one-hundred-percent indoctrinated.

Like they take one look at that Cerberus grunt with all the Reaper-tech metaphorically (and I have to assume literally) shoved up his ass during the Mars mission and goes ‘Okay, these morons are absolutely Reaper-puppets at this point, even if they’re too stupid to realize it yet.’

I think it would be so much fun if there was a dialogue option during Shepard’s talk with TIM on Mars where Shepard just STOPS talking to TIM and starts talking to Harbinger. Like “Okay Harbinger, you can come out now. You’re not fooling anybody, I know you’re meat-puppeting this idiot, even if he’s too stupid to realize it. Just do the whole glowey-eye thing and let’s get on with it.”

And of course, TIM is completely thrown off his game by this and spends the rest of the game SUPER insecure about it and trying to convince Shepard that no, he totally isn’t indoctrinated! And to prove it, he’s going to shove MORE Reaper-tech up his metaphorical and literal ass XD

So I have to imagine somebody has pointed this out before because it does feel pretty obvious now that I’ve noticed it;

But has anyone else noticed that James Vega is basically a ‘Default Shepard’?

Think about it: Male, Earthborn, Soldier (in the sense of not being Biotic or having any Tech proficiency), just so happens to have been (nearly anyway) the Sole Survivor of his unit, and by the end of ME3 he’s become an N7.

And I mean for one I feel like that plays really well into Vega becoming Shepard’s protégé, though admittedly only if Shepard isn’t ALSO the default. As at that point I think it becomes way too on-the-nose lol

Heck at that point, I feel like any of the other background and class options allow James to be an interesting foil/contrast to Shepard?

Like both Colonist and Spacer contrast Earthborn by both being much more connected with the broader galactic community. War Hero and Ruthless make Shepard a far more significant figure than just ‘managed to survive a big Thresher Maw attack’.

Okay so I’ve SEEN the Shepard/Garrus tango scene many times on social media but experiencing it for myself for the very first time was something else my jaw was on the fucking floor. I wasn’t prepared. Those two are so fucking hot wtf.

Well I just finished the Mass Effect Trilogy and now my heart physically hurts

I feel like the biggest issue with doing a Traynor-romance in Mass Effect 3 is simply having to figure out a reason WHY a wlw Shepard didn't romance LIARA in Mass Effect 1 XD
