Thoughts on f/t, live, f/k feeding?
I had an interesting discussion today with my coworker and a customer about snake feeding methods. I have always been a proponent of f/t (frozen/thawed) and was arguing for that, but this customer (who happened to be an old employee) was saying that fresh killed feeding is the way to go, and I gotta say, he made a good point. His point was basically that a f/k feeder is more nutrionally valuable than a f/t feeder due to the fact that freezing causes the...I can't find the words...it makes the food degrade. I remember reading about this a couple years ago, and I didn't really think anything of it until now. I'm always hungry for more knowledge on the subject of husbandry, so if any of you snake blogs/keepers have some input (not just referring me to an article, I know how to Google lol) I'd love to hear it.

Designer Corn Snake…………stunning
Florida Everglades: American Crocodiles
Unlike the American alligator, the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) in Florida is almost completely confined to the brackish and salt waters of the southern tip of the state, including the Keys, Vero Beach on the east coast, and Tampa Bay are historically its northernmost limits. It is not adapted to cold weather like the alligator and, therefore, could not survive in the northern Florida.

Snismas continues. Bob Clark purple golden child male, couple months old and sweet as a button. This was a show pickup, but not entirely on a whim (just that we’d been in a ‘if we ever get the opportunity’ phase, and then there he was).

Please stop giving pinkies to your lizard...
Had more people come in to the shop to buy a pinkie for their bearded dragon. I tried to convince them to go with dubias as an alternative treat, but they were too set on the thrill of seeing their dragon swallow a pinkie whole. Sadly these weren't some young, new herpers. They were old, decrepit assholes who have had the animal for years. They dont deserve to own such a majestic animal. People, please, unless your dragon is severely malnourished, has just laid a massive clutch and is looking exceedingly thin, or something extreme in that vein, don't fucking feed them mice. Just stop. It's not fun, funny, or cool. It is harmful to your animal and can cause myriad problems for their health. I have a rescue dragon with MBD/growth stunting that was fed only pinks and kept on loose substrate, and it is not fucking okay. So hard to hold my tongue and smile and sell them the mouse. So. Fucking. Hard.
