View from the Top: Elisa & Kai

âOf course,â Elisa agreed easily when Kai stated that they might as well gain benefits from their situation. That was a mentality she was coming to agree with more and more. âI hate to waste an opportunity.â
Kai climbed to his feet immediately upon her suggestion and Elisa smiled at him before returning her attention to the gardens. He assured her that heâd be fine until they left there, but she still had no plans to keep him waiting longer than necessary. She enjoyed the flowers, but they wouldnât need to spend hours and hours here. She probably could if she came prepared, but certainly not in these heels.
She fell back several paces and Elisa stopped to look back at him. Her eyes followed the bird until it disappeared and then returned to her date. âIâm not sure,â she mused when Kai wondered over the origins of the animals. âIt probably depends on if theyâre native to the area or not.â She sighed slightly as she considered. âPerhaps a bit of both?â Elisa frowned and looked back at the entrance. âAlthough, usually for animals they have double doors. They might have gotten trapped in here, poor things.â If there was anything Elisa could condemn, it was a cage.
The next portion of the gardens was an impressive rose display. The different shrubs and vines wound together, flowering in a variety of colors. The scent was heady and rich, but Elisa adored it. It reminded her of opening night.
Kai frowned with a bit of a hum. âThatâs a good point - I hope theyâll be alright. I guess they can eat in here and such, but I hope itâs not too frightening or anything like that.â He shot a glance back to wherever the bird had darted away, but there wasnât anything to be done about it. It was gone and he couldnât help - sometimes, that was just the way of things.
Still a little sad, though.
A rose garden was next, and Kai didnât know much about roses except they had thorns, so he was careful as he reached out to touch the plant. It smelled lovely - surprisingly thick, he thought, compared to many flowers. He felt like he could almost taste it, or feel it in his nose as much as he smelled. For a moment he kind of wished he could take one, give it to Elisa - but in a way heâd sort of given them all to her. Without him, she wouldnâtâve come here, and that was a really nice though as well.
Plus, it didnât require him to tear a piece off of the poor plant.
âFlowers are a little odd,â Kai commented as they stepped further along the path. âI mean, if you think about it - there are these plants, these living things, and we just...chop bits off of them and toss them about as gifts just because they look pretty. Little bit weird.â He shrugged. âI prefer giving potted flowers, myself, if I decide on a gift like that.â
The next section had statues which had sections carved out as little pots, each one with smaller flowers spilling out of them - little blue ones that poured out of a goatâs side, bright yellows that shot up from a pair of swirling fish, oranges that streamed from a dragonâs nostrils as it clutched at a gemstone-like bunch of purples and reds. âThatâs beautiful,â Kai murmured, grinning at the dragon. âCool to see them kind of being used in the art, you know?â
