and here i am, yet again, binding The Cadence of Part-time Poets
we love ya @motswolo
after a bit of sniffing around i found cam’s three favorite cadence chapters, and so, naturally, i binded them for her!
i had so much fun rereading these chapters and creating the little objects from the text so here’s the chapters and their corresponding stuff:
Crescendo: Marlene’s rainbow t-shirt and Mary’s red tube top (both made very poorly out of a very small pride flag)
January, 1978: Reg’s postcard and the three albums from the record shop (well actually they just talk about A Night At The Opera but i had to include it). for the three albums i made both the sleeve and the records themselves. i also had to design The Longbottoms cover based on the text seeing as it doesn’t actually exist…
The Great Last Day: i made a cassette tape!!! with the actual songs! and one of them tag-along papers that come with store bought tapes!!! super proud and excited about that one
anyway…
to my dear dear @camallowing
i had the time of my life making you this gift, and an even better time giving it to you in person (still can’t get over that) i hope you liked it and i hope it’s sufficient enough for the next four years’ birthday/christmas/anniversary/other occasions presents
i miss you and i love you sweet love, from across the sea sea ;)
things she didn’t point out but i think absolutely deserve a shout out: the cover is modeled after Queen’s A Night At The Opera, and every chapter in this has a Queen song in it (dare i say what makes them so good), so it’s just perfect. and the little blurbs at the beginnings of the chapters were written by yours truly!
to my dear dear @kaisa015, my tonya,
this is the most beautiful gift you could have possibly given me, and as I will be reading it and rereading it and rereading it all the time, it’s more than enough for the next four (five) years’ occasions
i’m so excited to listen to the (real, playable!!) Great Last Day cassette and read the chapter printed on this gorgeous paper and cry a lot and be so grateful!!
i think we might have to thank @motswolo (who we do indeed love) for writing the work of art that led to the beginning of our friendship and eventually to meeting (!!) in person (!!!!) across literal oceans and against all odds. I don’t know what my life would be like if we had never met, but I do know that version of me is sorely missing out on so, so much love and laughter and goodness and joy. i miss you already
