So this is my concept art of my BA I did few days ago. I will eventually explain why he has wings in next post cuz I plan more art of him. He's called The Saint well- there is nothing special about besides his name "Santi" meaning Saint quite literally.

Yes, one of the problems of studying fandom by memes is the portrayal of Vulkan as an aggressive hugger and obsessive extravert.

Aside from Promethean Sun, where it says "troubled and lonely soul" about him, there's a very sad line in Know no fear about Guilliman and his comparison to other brothers.

There is none of the bitterness that shadows Corax, or the persecuted despair that haunts poor Konrad. There is never any of the deliberate mystery that obscures Alpharius or Magnus, and he is more open than that buried soul Vulkan.

I don't really know how what does it mean in english, but our translation was like “closed, self-absorbed, introverted”.

Guilliman here reflects that his brothers in general do not like him, they`re jealous of him, his success, education and everything else, and that is why he has only few friends.

What do we see in the book Vulkan Lives? That Vulkan REALLY LIKES Guilliman, even in hard situation he finds time to admire his looks, to appreciate his intelligence, to worry about him and say that Roboute is strong enough to crush Horus. Konrad even gets hysterical about how often Vulkan talks about him.

Vulkan actually loves all of his brothers and reacts harshly to the chronicler's attempt to say something questionable about them.

This leads me to the sad thought that Vulkan is really so closed, humble and lonely that he can't even properly show other brothers his affection and good attitude, so they don't even know about it.

And when he tries to do that, his love language is gifts. He's constantly giving something to them, crafting things, weapons, because he's perhaps (as I think) too shy for big words. Ferrus was the first brother he was introduced to, and it's like Vulkan stays attached to him the most until the end, like a baby duck. My baby is so precious. Thank goodness we have fanfiction where I can give him all this love that he was deprived of in canon.

And my personal shattered glass - what if Roboute, who had previously seen Vukan as someone distant and obscure, too closed off, in that famous glass scene in Unremembered Empire finally says "My dear brother is returned to me!” that maybe he only realizes now that Vulkan is important too, but it's too late.
