Me talking about *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea* here.
Scenes from *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea* that made me come up with a ship.
I’ve already shared some scenes from *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea* here that made me "ship" the two protagonists, but there are so many that I left most of them out. In fact, there’s at least one in every episode. However, I’ll mention the ones that really hooked me.
1- The episodes "The Werewolf" and "The Mark of the Beast" (Season 3). In "The Werewolf," the Admiral is wounded by a scientist who has transformed into a werewolf, and the doctor says the only solution is to create a vaccine using the infected man's blood. The problem is, the man has fled to an island that is about to explode. The Captain rushes to go after him, despite the danger. In the other episode, there are several scenes, but the best one is when the Admiral decides to take the diving bell down to the ocean floor and stay there so he won't infect anyone else. The Captain insists on bringing the bell back up, even knowing the Admiral might have transformed again.
Another episode with several notable scenes is the one where an alien can copy people's appearances and wants to trigger a nuclear explosion using the *Seaview*'s missiles. When the Captain is on the verge of death, the alien offers to save Lee's life—provided the Admiral does what the alien wants. The Admiral agrees to the deal but later refuses to launch the missile. The alien then goes to find the Captain, who is in distress. It’s a beautiful moment: the Captain refuses to give in, even while in pain, but when he hears the Admiral calling out to him, the alien tells him he wouldn't want the Admiral to see him like that. At that point, the Captain sheds a tear and accepts the deal. It seems the alien knew just how important they were to each other.
And finally, there’s the episode where the Admiral survives an explosion thanks to a new gas he used, but ends up becoming paranoid. The episode has a lot of scenes, but I love the part at the beginning where the Admiral goes to make repairs; when everything explodes, the Captain gets really worried about him. Even the doctor notices and teases him about it, and even when the Admiral is suspicious of everyone else, he says the only person he trusts is Lee. It’s so beautiful.
Oh, I forgot another episode—the one where the Admiral and some other men are in the diving bell, and a huge wave sweeps them onto an island. The Captain is frantic trying to find them, and in the end, when he reaches the island and there’s a lizard trying to get them, the Admiral tells him to run, but the Captain says, "But if you stay, I can't leave." I love it. They are so protective of each other.
And those were just a few. I’m going to list more, even though I know no one will pay attention.
I can't believe they took the *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea* Season 1 videos off Dailymotion. Watching them there was a hassle because of the ads, but it still got the job done—especially since they haven't put them up on YouTube yet. I wonder why they won't allow it? There are so many good, interesting episodes. As if losing *Star Trek* wasn't enough.

I know a lot of people might think I'm crazy for having so many ships, considering none of them have been confirmed, some don't even get along, and most are just friends. Well, if they're friends, they have a friendship—and you can't spell FRIENDSHIP without spelling SHIP, right? 😜😜

Amanhã volto ao trabalho e não estou preparada. Amei tanto minhas férias. E olha que não fiz de interessante, mas pelo menos tive uma coisa: liberdade.
Liberdade de acordar na hora que quiser, sem precisar de despertador. Liberdade de ir para a cidade na hora que quiser. Sem ter que esperar até o final de semana. Enfim, fazer as coisas sem horários estabelecidos e nem ter que encontrar pessoas desagradáveis.
Bem, realmente não estou preparada para voltar. As férias só serviram para mostrar o quanto eu estou perdendo no meu dia a dia.
Mas, enfim, foi um sonho! Agora é hora de acordar. Afinal, ninguém vai pagar meus boletos.
What is going on? Now, every time I use the "Spirk" tag, a bunch of videos of scantily clad women show up. I don't want to see that. If you want to show yourselves off, don't use my favorite tag, okay?
I always like comparing *Star Trek* to *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea*, especially regarding the pairings. Although I think "Spirk" is deeper than any other pairing, there’s no denying the similarities. One of the biggest similarities lies in their mutual concern and the relief they feel upon seeing that the other is safe. In *Star Trek*, we always remember the moment Spock sees Jim alive in "Amok Time," but *Voyage* has plenty of scenes like that too—like when the Admiral orders the destruction of the place where the Captain is, thinking he’s dead, only to hear his voice; the look of relief and emotion on his face is wonderful. And there are many others, too. It’s very similar.
Fanfic idea
As I always say here, it’s awful having a ship that no one else ships. You have no one to talk to, and the worst part is the lack of fanfiction—only 140 stories, with the last one posted over a decade ago. If only I could write, but I just can't. Even so, I have a few ideas that could be interesting. One is actually a riff on a *Spirk* story I’m reading, told from the perspectives of various crew members. I love how people start noticing things before the couple is even officially together. I wanted to do the same thing with *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea*—having other people on the submarine realize how much the two of them care about each other.
It could be the doctor noticing one’s concern when the other is injured; or the Chief, who is fiercely loyal to both and would spot that there’s something more; or Kowolski, who is always in the thick of missions and would pick up on it; or Chip, who always has to take command when they’re in trouble. It could even be the Admiral’s sister—who never actually appears on screen but could have an encounter with both of them and notice something—or the woman from the Institute who appeared only once but might have realized what was going on. It could even be one of the enemies noticing the strong bond they share. Unfortunately, this will stay just in my head because I can't develop the story, and no one here ships them. But it would be beautiful.
Me when I see someone saying that Spones is better than Spirk.
I know we’re supposed to respect other people's opinions, but I just can't with this! How can anyone find Bones/Spock romantic and cool but think Spirk is boring? How can anyone think Jim would be a "third option" when he is the center of Spock's life?
Don't even get me started on the throuple. I can't stand that either!
A post no one will read. But I’m going to say it anyway because this is the only place I can. No one in real life would want to hear me talk about a "ship" from a show that aired 60 years ago. I’ve always said that what captivated me about *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea* was the relationship between the Admiral and the Captain. The two of them were always looking out for each other, protecting one another, and worrying about each other. If I were to talk about every single scene, this post would go on forever. But I wanted to talk about a few random scenes that, if they aired today, would spark a lot of commentary.
1- In the *Flying Dutchman* episode, when the submarine is under attack by the ghost ship and the control room is on fire, the two of them simply run off to the Admiral’s cabin to have a chat. Didn't they have other priorities at that moment?
2- The Admiral and two others get lost on an island that causes hallucinations. One of the men starts seeing pirate treasure, and by the end of the episode, the Admiral explains that it might have been something from the man's subconscious. The thing is, the Admiral has a hallucination involving the Captain. So, Admiral—is the Captain in your subconscious?
3- This is the one that really blew my mind. The Captain turns into a beast-man due to a botched experiment. They spend part of the episode trying to cure him but fail. In the final scene, they capture him, and the Admiral decides to take him down to the ocean floor in the diving bell. The Captain is currently in beast form and asleep, but when he takes the antidote, he begins to transform back—slowly. And that’s the moment that gets me: the way the Admiral looks at him. They’re in a dark, enclosed space, and there’s this very slow, romantic-sounding music playing in the background. For a moment, you get the impression they’re about to kiss. Which obviously wouldn't happen in a 1960s TV series. But if it were a man and a woman, something definitely would have happened.
Well, I’ve gone on too long in a post that no one is going to read. But anyway, I had to say it.
Just stopping by to wish everyone a happy McLennon Day—the day that changed not only the history of music but also the lives of so many people. Wishing everyone happiness. And thank you to God for making the meeting of these two individuals possible.
The downside of reading a long fanfic that gets updated gradually is that by the time you reach the last chapter, you no longer remember what happened at the beginning—and you just can't bring yourself to go back to the start. To make matters worse, some people take months to release a chapter. You end up forgetting everything.
It’s really interesting that my two main "ships" right now consist of a captain and a scientific genius. But, as I said, they share a lot of similarities: friendship, loyalty, and mutual concern. It’s practically the same dynamic. The difference is that in *Star Trek*, the scientific genius is subordinate to the captain, whereas in *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea*, the scientific genius outranks the captain. Otherwise, though, I find them exactly alike. My logic was: if I ship one pair, I have to ship the other too.
