"I put the images in storage for two weeks, which turned into two months. The entire storage unit flooded and the owner didn’t tell anyone, so by the time I arrived, the images were just mostly gone or in a state of high deterioration."

Last week I received the exciting news that I was one of three nominees for blog of the year in the Lead Awards. These are for photography and design in print and online media for the whole of Germany. And I’m very pleased to say that What Ali Wore won gold!
I asked Ali on Wednesday if he would join me on the trip to Hamburg. He initially declined as he was worried about falling behind on his work at the shop. And because he likes to be in bed by 9pm. However he changed his mind at the eleventh hour and so we set off on the train together on Friday afternoon.
When they announced that we’d won, Ali joined me on stage to accept the award, bowing and tipping his hat all the way to the stage. He definitely got the loudest applause of the night!
