Hazbin Hotel 2nd season has had an obvious uptick with the animation quality and I've been loving the new songs each episode. But it is crazy to me that technically we are already half-way through the season and it's only been the last two episodes that has moved the story forward. 20 minute episodes for an 8 episode season is crazy because finally there's some momentum in the pacing but i know the next 4 episodes is probably not gonna deliver a satisfying conclusion because we barely have had a moving plot before it now has to end.

Mermay day 3: Nishikigoi (koi)

Koi fish trace their lineage to the humble common carp, first domesticated in East Asia over a millennium ago. I’d no idea we’d be drawn together when we first met.

Emmrich and Rook’s (Laelia) wedding, not long after the events of the game.

Not much to tell on the process of this one! The pose was inspired by the dance scene between Emma and Mr Knightly from the 2020 adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma. My Rook (Laelia) is heavily inspired by Jane Austen’s ladies, so it felt right.

The biggest hurdle with this illustration was the filigree background. I hid the figure sketches and drew the whole thing to make sure everything was logically laid out. I occasionally enabled the figures to make sure it complemented them and didn’t overpower them. It was definitely a balancing act! Once I was done with one side, I duplicated it and flipped it. Work smarter, not harder! Still took ages though lol.
