Most of the free time tracking software is aimed at customers living and working all over the world. And they were created in very different countries. Some people, however, prefer to use this software which was created in their homeland. And there is a good reason for that.
What Is Delegation Board? Managers have it tough when working with a group of people....
Time Tracking: Accounting Made Easy
Managing company funds have proved to be one of the most daunting tasks a company has to go through. For small-scale business and freelancers, organizing their finances and using them in an effective way seems to be impossible, while surviving in a crowd of competition.
The relationship between management and company funds has been a rough one having its highs and lows along the journey.
Time Tracking for Accounting
Another issue which most accounting firms face in managing and tracking time. Managing the time spent on each task, by each employee is as difficult as managing the fund. The results of mismanagement of time are low productivity and a poor income, of course.
To meet the challenges, thrown at entrepreneurs by both of these scenarios, a software integration.
Gaining noticeable fame in the market these days is TimeCamp and one of the most popular accounting software, FreeAgent.
In this integration, FreeAgent helps in managing the funds and on the other hand, TimeCamp helps in keeping track of tasks and time spent on each task separately. Here is a list of benefits, which are offered by the integration of this two software.
Productivity And Communication
One of the most important advantages of the time tracking for accounting is that it helps in creating or maintaining a healthy source of communication, within the firm. With everyone on the same page, there are more opportunities to make sales and spot any problem which is rising within the hierarchy.
The productivity increases instantly.
Time tracking for accounting helps in managing the funds in a better way, which can help owners concentrate more on the performance of each employee. This is made easy as well, as the time and attendance of each employee is tracked. It increases the productivity gradually.
Accessibility and Less Paperwork
Having a 24/7 access to the files and folders of your accounting firm is very important. Nonetheless, most software does not offer centralization, which might be a problem to most accounting firms. Time tracking software for accounting helps in accessing your files and folders and keeping a track of all the tasks and time taken to each task. What is more, from every corner of the world!
Most accounting companies spend hours and hours on paperwork.
This process can be extremely time-consuming and can make management of funds and time very difficult. With the time tracking, you have the opportunity to reduce your paperwork and save your files and records online.
More Billable Hours
Last but not the least, the accounting time tracking software helps in increasing the number of billable hours by heaps and bounds. This is done through proper management of time and the attendance of employees. Moreover, it makes sure that each task in done on time, increasing the productivity, the billable hours and hence, the income.
Time tracking tools, like our timeCamp, are mostly equipped with features helpful for all the companies with an internal accounting. The most important are:
invoicing,
budgeting,
reporting,
billable hours.
Time tracking for accounting is one of the most innovative step, taken to make the life of accounting firm owners easy. This user-friendly software can help in calculating funds, tracking tasks and time and the attendance of each employee. These lead to a better management of your funds and a marginable increase in the productivity.

How Much Money You Can Save With Time Tracking?
Time tracking is the simple art of calculating the amount of time spent on day to day tasks. It is a kind of synonym for time management. In the present fast-paced world, people need proper time tracking. New and advanced technology has also produced time tracking software to help people manage time and daily tasks on the move. Time tracking is used by both employees and employers since paying by the hour is becoming common.
Saving money through Time Tracking
Many people are unable to estimate how much time they spend on certain tasks. This is the main reason that enjoyable and pleasurable events seem to be shorter while boring tasks seem to take more time.
Don’t guess how much time you spend on your task
This usually happens because estimation of time is like a guessing game. Our mind works in a way that makes guessing into something that our brain wants to believe.
‘’On the other hand, measuring the exact time being used by specific tasks gives us the real-time facts.’’
This is the reason many companies and industries are making use of proper time tracking software. This helps not only use time productively and efficiently but also save precious money.
Trick or treat
The human brain can be tricked more easily than machines. Although, the machine is also being made by humans themselves but they are programmed to measure time like our brains cannot. It is no rocket science that we can only fix something if we can properly calculate the damage.
If we can’t calculate the extra time that we are using then we can’t take steps to optimize it.
Therefore, we lose money. It is so surprising that by just using time in a wrong way can cost us a significant loss of money.
Be a savvy person!
A simple example of using extra time and losing money is the traditional employee attendance system. This system usually consists of time sheets that are signed by employees when they enter and leave the office for work. Apparently, this seems to be a harmless method and also seems to be a better record since it leaves a paper trail.
However, it takes time to make these sheets and also money for the paper.
Moreover, it can be estimated that each employee must be losing at least 6 to seven minutes of work daily. In general, these few minutes seem too unimportant and adjustable. Calculate this on an annual basis, and you will see the dangerous amount of money and time being wasted.
Therefore, we can use time tracking software that helps save not only time but money. There are many options available on the market. Time tracking applications can be selected according to what suits you. There are features being offered according to which industry your business belongs to.

Your Time Budget
We people tend to ignore the simple, yet very important fact that our time is so limited, it goes only one way and its’ irreversible.
Undoubtedly, every single hour has its own value. So why not budget your time on priorities? This exercise will help you to see exactly how much time you do have for your priorities and projects.
~~How It Works?~~
Download this Excel file. Then think about how much time you would like to work on workdays, weekends, and how many days are free? Write it down. Excel has a simple calculator that will show you how many working hours you do you have in one year of your life. This is the time budget for your priorities and projects. Remember that number – it’s so limited. You must focus on it.
Next, write down your yearly goals/projects/priorities/task. You name it as you want. There should be no more than 15. For myself, I have the most important goals as developing in TimeCamp. But I have things like administration, management, helpdesk, Visikid, non-production and selling, in Time&Tracking.
Then imagine that your time budget is 100%. Now divide that 100% into those goals. How much time can you spend on each? Some of them are constant and you have to spend a fixed amount of time on them, how much? Write it all down in Excel.
Now you have your time budget divided into your goals and projects. Contemplate for a moment on them; see how much time you have for your most important goals. Maybe you will notice that you have too little for them? Maybe you will have to throw something away? Maybe you will have to spend less time on things? Maybe you will have to say “no” more time?
Next, keep track for one or two weeks how you spend your time on each goal. You can use Excel or our free software to do that. Check how your predictions compare to reality. Then make corrections.
Hope you enjoy this exercise, the main goal is to tweak your time up, because it is limited and is divided into several goals, and each takes time, and you must juggle your time properly to get the most out of your precious time!

What Are The Pros and Cons of Time Tracking?
We tend to write a lot about time tracking on our blog. We have a list of Top 100 Time Tracking Software, we have created a Complete Guide to Time Tracking that is supposed to explain all its intricacies, but it also includes some of the most popular project management methodologies, and is packed with the time tracking and productivity tips. Here are some of the examples:
Thoroughly described Project Management for Companies, including most popular project management methodologies, like Agile and Scrum.
Various benefits of time tracking for both small and big companies.
Proper implementation of time tracking into the company with tips how to introduce it to the team, and make sure that it is working fine.
Project budgeting – the features of our application that help you with budgeting hours, making your interests more profitable
Tips and trick for remote workers – how to be more productive, sleep more efficiently, manage time better, and more.
Yes, we used to (and probably will) write A LOT about time tracking. However, we mainly focused on the positive aspects of this activity, the benefits that come from using time tracking software, etc.
Today, we are going to do the same BUT, we will try to be more neutral about it. After all, time tracking can have its bad sides too. So, without further introduction, let us discuss the pros and cons of time tracking.
~~Advantages~~
Obviously, being a company that produces time tracking software, we can find quite a lot of pros that this activity offers. Here are some of them:
Increase Productivity – Time tracking software monitors all the activities a user is performing on his/her computer and provides the detailed analysis of the work done, and also the time spent on the unproductive actions. With this data, we can enhance our performance, as we will be able to better plan our work and eliminate the time-consuming, unproductive activities.
Save time and money – Don’t let your employees ‘cyberslack‘! Cyberslacking is the act of avoiding work and/or other responsibilities by scouring the internet in search of games or other non-work related amusements. This activity is performed by almost every employee, and it wastes hundreds of company’s hours each week. Time tracking drastically reduces this behavior, saving hours, and therefore thousands of dollars.
Timesheets – Manage your payrolls easily. Most of the tools on the market have the ability to create timesheets basing on the time tracked. If you are a freelancer, imagine how helpful it is to have most of the financial paperwork prepared by the software that you are using. You have more time to spend, so you can make more money, or just get a little lazy
The conducted surveys revealed that 89 percent of people admit to wasting time at work every single day. 31 percent of workers waste 30 minutes during their working day. Another 31 percent waste roughly an hour per day. 16 percent waste about 2 hours, 6 percent waste roughly 3 hours, 2 percent 4hours, and the last 2 percent 5 or more hours daily.
Just place your cursor on the field to check what was the activity and how much time you spent on it.
Fair Employee Treatment – The unpleasant truth is that it is very hard to treat all the employees equally fair. Some people know exactly when to show up and how to behave, and it puts them higher in the manager’s hierarchy. That’s very unfortunate to those, who work hard but don’t have this type of character, and in the result, have lesser chances of getting raise or promotion. When the software installed on the employees’ computers tracks all the work done, the rewards can be based solely on their performance.
Enhance the Workflow – As a manager, you are getting a full vision of the work of the whole team. No flaw in the system will go unnoticed. The communication is smoother, and the employees always know exactly what they should be doing at the given moment.
~~Disadvantages~~
We believe that time tracking itself does not have many disadvantages. If there are some, they occur due to the human factor or the flaws in the software. Here are those:
The Employees’ Dissatisfaction – The first thing that should be taken into consideration when implementing time tracking software into the company is the response from your employees. It’s rather certain that they will not be pleased when being told that their computer activities will be monitored, starting now. In fact, those employees that do their work fairly will soon notice that time tracking software is helpful, not the other way around. The complaints will come only from those, who took for granted their Facebook or Youtube time during work
Fear of Being Watched – Many people believe that while their time is being tracked, the software that does this is probably picking through their database, doing who knows what, maybe stealing confidential data? In fact, time tracking software only monitors what we do at the given moment. It means no Facebook during work, but that’s the worst of it
Complexity – Correct, some of the tools designed to track computer time are not that easy to learn. It may take a while to learn about all the features and their purpose, and not everyone, especially if our employees are older, want to learn every single detail of the complicated software. Luckily, the online support is usually top notch and if the company pays a big sum of money for the app, they can most likely count on a 24/7 service.
Summing Up
As you can see, it is pretty hard for us to give some serious disadvantages of time tracking. We don’t deny it has some but the technology is developing very fast, and all the technical flaws are disappearing quickly. What’s left is the attitude of our employees but this is something that a good manager can change with a simple lecture that would explain all the benefits of time tracking software. And there are really a lot of them!

Nail Your Time Management With These Few Simple Tricks!
How often do you feel like you should be doing something important? You have a paper to finish, and the deadline is closing in. But you are not doing it, and you cannot exactly tell why. There may be many reasons. For example, you can’t stop thinking about other tasks that wait for you after you finish the first one. Or something constantly gets in your way. Or there’s this funny video called ‘Top 10 Fails’ that your friend just posted on Facebook. A must see!
Even though your chances to be featured in such a video equal practically zero, you are not failing less than this poor biker, who just crushed his balls on the rail. It’s just the different kind of pain that you feel when you realize that half of your day is gone but not even quarter of your work is done. Why is that? Because you can’t organize your time properly.not even quarter of your work is done. Why is that? Because you can’t organize your time properly.not even quarter of your work is done. Why is that? Well, we might be able to help you! However, the most important part of becoming a master of the productive time consumption is a strong will. You have to believe in yourself and never let your lazy, procrastinating part of the brain take control. Practice and develop good habits. Once you do, you will be surprised how much time you will have to get lazy without getting mad about it!
1. Find what’s important and focus on it!
People tend to jump from one urgent task to another. Most of the students could tell you a story how right before the exams they managed to clean their whole apartments, throw out rubbish, prepare an elaborate meal, go for a jog, etc. Our brains cheat and turn our attention to the less important but urgent tasks, as they want to avoid doing the big one because they are afraid of it.
This tendency may turn into a fully-fledged procrastination, and we may start checking Facebook or some blogs or YouTube channels that we like, while the important work is forgotten. Fighting this is hard and requires a lot of practice. Treat your will like a muscle – train it. Start low, the bigger is your problem, the harder it will be to get rid of it. Write on a piece of paper the thing that you absolutely have to do and take a look at it every now and then. Once you get to work, it only takes a couple of minutes to get into ‘the flow’ and perform the task without getting distracted. Also, take a break once in a while, let your mind relax, and in return receive the boost in productivity. Try the Pomodoro Technique.
2. Block the distractions.
First, establish what gets in the way of you performing your work. The most popular are:
Internet – if you work on a computer, you know that the internet connection can be your biggest ally, as well as an enemy. You can find practically every information that you need on the web. How is it, that we tend to look for something unpractical instead? Entertainment will always win when the mind is weak! However, we can help our will by blocking the websites that we often visit and waste time on. There are many ways to block the website that we know we shouldn’t be checking during our working time. Check them out here.
Mobile Phone – Another powerful enemy of your productivity. There are so many apps, games, and other stuff that you can spend your time with (and in practically any place you want!) that it is hard no to do it. Imagine a situation – you are working on something, but suddenly you feel like you should check your FB account because you were waiting for a message from a friend. Well, you do so, and the message is not there, but while you have your phone, you can check your Twitter or Instagram or some other site as well, why not? How many times have you caught yourself in an endless loop like this? Keep your phone away. Answer phone calls but don’t take it for no reason. Give yourself about 30-45 minutes every day to check the social media/blogs/websites, and that’s it!
Television – This is a personal opinion, but it’s best not to have TV at home. The internet provides the same entertainment, but the news is much fresher on the web, and the Netflix does the rest You just be careful with all those great series, one per day is enough (one episode, not one season!)
3. Strengthen your character
Remember that you are the one who makes decisions concerning your life. Do not let others tell you what to do. You can, of course, take their advice and discuss their propositions but the final decision should always be yours.
Be assertive – learn to say no. If you are good at something, never do it for free. If you don’t have time to help somebody, just say it straight. Perhaps some (false) friends will turn away from you, but you will earn the respect of the rest.
Prioritize – You are not the hero of the M. Night Shyamalan movie, and you can’t split Always choose those tasks and make those decisions, which you are sure are the most important at the moment.
In the worst case scenario, ignore – if there’s too much on your shoulders, you may have to delete some of the tasks from your schedule. Just make sure those are the least important (for example, better write this email for your boss, than go for a run!).
Summing Up
We’ve shared some simple tricks that should be helpful when it comes to time organizing. As we mentioned at the beginning, the most important factor that will help you nail your time management is a strong will. Use these techniques and strengthen it every day. It may take some time, but you will surely notice the improvement. This is your path to a better life, take it!

Get Your Budget Under Control with Time Tracking!
What if you wake up one day and then you realised that you no longer have enough money to spend this month? It’ll be a disaster. Some of you may think that people who end up in this situation have lost their common sense; however, the core of the money problem can be traced to an inadequate management of time and money.
Get Your Budget Under Control with Time Tracking!
Something like this can be fixed so you will not result in the same situation in the future. One of the best ways to guarantee that you will be keeping your personal and business budget under control would be to use a systematic time tracking method.
~~Managing your Finance with Time Tracking~~
Monitoring is always the initial step towards a better management of your budget. You need to analyse where your money is going. By using the time tracking software, you can analyse what part of the business is taking an enormous amount of your money and not making any profit.
Regarding personal finance, using such program will provide data and information about your monthly spending plan.
It can produce information about how much profit you make in a month and also give you an estimated cost of your monthly obligations and expenses.
~~Cost Calculation~~
With time tracking software, you can get access to cost calculation interface. It will only calculate the cost of work which includes the cost per hour, cost value, the overtime cost and the leave time. It presents an arranged platform where you can view different data and find out the expenses and profit for a distinct project. This way you will be able to allow an adequate amount of resources the next time that a similar project occurs. Regarding personal budget management, you can use it on billing utilities and track how much you are spending on a daily basis in using your electric, water, the internet and phone service. You can also give an expense reporting software a try, e.g. Expensify, Expense Point or Certify.
~~Review the Data~~
You can also use the time tracking software and analyse which service or expenses are mandatory and which needs better management. For instance, if you look at your personal budget there is a cost which is beyond your control such as the monthly rent, mortgage, insurance and others; these are the necessary expenses.
Regarding the other expenses, simply analyse if you are comfortable in spending that much money.
For the business budget, by tracking the time you can analyse if it is reasonable to keep your staff or hire a third party provider.
~~Planning~~
The ability to plan and estimate the cost for the coming months would be one of the greatest benefits of a time tracking software. By producing data for a particular month in a particular task, you will be able to estimate the cost for the next month and find out which area requires budget management.
If you were able to follow the guidelines for the coming months religiously, you would be able to have a better control on your finance. The details provided by a regular time tracking directly equates to smaller expenses and bigger profit.
See? Getting your budget under control with time tracking is easier than you think!

5 Rules To Help You Maintain Better Control Over Your Time!
In the past few months, we were posting some articles dedicated to those, who wanted to improve their time management skills. We helped you establish what is your approach to time (the past, present or future), we discussed the tricks that may help one better organize his or her time. Now, we would like to sum this up into the Five Most Important Rules that you should follow in order to maintain better control over your time.
At the end of today’s article, you will find the section of related posts, in which we placed the previous posts from this series, so if you haven’t got the chance to check them out, be sure you do it this time! Remember that it is never too late for a change of habits. If you feel like your productivity and efficiency is low, and you don’t know what to do about it, we hope that our list will provide some necessary motivation.
Now then, let us sum up what we have learned so far and shape it into five simple rules that are easy to memorize.
1. Learn from the past.
If you have the type of personality that dwells in the past, you have to know how to benefit from it. Thinking about the failures, the grudges, and the people who hurt in the past will get you nowhere. Furthermore, it can significantly disturb your ability to plan the present and future actions.
We can learn a valuable lesson even from the worst memory, we just have to learn how to deal with the negative feelings associated with it, while focusing on the knowledge and experience that we managed to gain through it. The best idea is to think of these situations that were pleasant and beneficial – this way we will have a bigger chance to turn our present actions into similar ones.
2. Focus on the present.
Always be aware of the daily events. Follow your schedule and don’t let unnecessary distractions get in the way of your productivity. Enjoy the present moment, draw the positive energy from the tasks that you perform, spend free time with family or friends, or let yourself get lost in the simple but fun activities like reading books, listening to music, or watching a movie.
Don’t try to do too much during one day. Make sure you have completed all the important things and if there’s time, do some of those less important. Self-improvement is great, just don’t overwork yourself. Also, don’t let the laziness get the better of you – there’s always something interesting you can be doing. Try to make a bucket list of such things – like getting a hobby or learning to play the guitar or dancing. If you spend your free time while doing them, you will feel much more accomplished by the end of the day.
3. Control the future.
Be firm about the decisions you make. If you have the type of personality that focuses on the future, you should not find it difficult to plan your work and free time in advance. You have a clear view of the tasks in front of you and you are a conscientious person. Your biggest problem may be the lack of ability to enjoy the present moment. Dedicate at least an hour each day to perform activities that bring you nothing but joy. If you have trouble controlling the future, make it a routine to plan each day in the evening before it.
So it happens, that we know a perfect tool that can aid you in following your schedule! TimeCamp – our time tracking software that monitors and analyzes the time you spend at your computer. It will display a graph of your productive and unproductive activities, so you will know what takes too much of your time and should be avoided, but you will also know what’s your working progress.
4. Know your limits.
Learn to say no. You must be assertive, never take to much on your back because not only it will destroy your weekly schedule, it may result in you not performing even the most important tasks that you simply had to do. That’s because if you have too much on your head, you cannot focus on one thing, as you constantly think about this extra task that you promised to complete.
Accept extra work only when you are sure that your calendar can take it. Also, don’t try to waste your energy trying to complete tasks that you are not sure how to do. If you don’t have the necessary skills or qualifications to do what somebody asks you, never agree to that – that’s just needless stress and frustration.
But try to refuse politely!
5. Find the balance.
What you need is the equilibrium between the three orientations on time, so you can:
Build strong high-efficacy thanks to the experiences from the past that resulted in successes and know what situations should be avoided to reduce the number of failures.
Learn to enjoy the moment and always find time for self-development and, simply, for fun.
Find the necessity to control your future and define the actions that you should add to your schedule while deleting those that bring you nothing but self-loathing.
Summing Up
You will find each of the aspects presented above thoroughly discussed in our related posts, so don’t be afraid to take a look! We think that an old Indian Cherokee Legend about two wolves will make a good ending to this post:
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Now, those are some wise words, aren’t they? -.^

Main Principles of Time Management – Planning, Checking, Organizing!
It’s time to continue our previous post and present yet another three very important principles of Time Management. Learning and mastering these rules will turn us into a person with an active approach to time. It means, that you will be able to easily focus on your work, have your tasks under control, and plan everything in advance.
So, without further introductions, let us discuss the remaining three of the six main principles of time management.
~~Planning~~
Those, who focus on the future, have no problem with planning. Having all planned ahead of time significantly increases our chances of success. We know where to go, what to do, and how to do it. However, one must remember that there is a huge gap between having a plan and bringing it into effect.
While plans are not the guarantee of a success, or even more, they tend to fail quite often, the activity of preparing them is very important. It gets you ready for the action. Even if the situation is not going the way you wanted it to go, you are still prepared, and you know exactly what your goal is. Without planning, you have a medium chance to successfully complete the task even if everything goes the best possible way, and very small chances to finish it if the circumstances are not in your favor. And, unfortunately, they usually aren’t.
Try to take into consideration the possible obstacles, and when you plan, always leave yourself a number of options to choose from. As it is in most of the action movies – if plan A doesn’t work, switch to plan B, or C, even D if you are really unlucky. Try to be as flexible as you can, and no sudden problem will catch you off guard.
~~Checking~~
If you are stuck at some really hard task or encounter a problem that you can’t solve, you must go through the revision process and make a final decision about it. Continue or not?Don’t listen to people when they say “just keep working on it and you will find the solution.” It doesn’t work this way – you may waste a lot of time for no good reason.
What you can do, is to make breaks and use them to establish your progress, as well as other important elements, like:
Priorities – Check whether you haven’t lost your main goal from sight.
Successes – The completed tasks that became our small victories.
Failures – Analyze the mistakes and learn from them.
Process – Is your train of thought on the right tracks? Are you doing everything according to the plan? Are there any unnecessary activities that should be immediately removed from the original vision?
It won’t take long to have everything checked, while the benefits that come from going through the revision process may be huge.
~~Organizing~~
Being organized may be the key factor towards your success. Not only will it save you a lot of time but also a lot of physical and mental health. First of all, you working environment – it is essential that you know exactly how to move about at the office or wherever it is that you work. Don’t spend your precious time working for a pen, a piece of paper, your notes, or anything else that you need for work. The same goes for your working device. Keep your PC clear – file all the stuff into the right folders takes seconds while saving you maybe hours of needless searching. Make your office comfortable and full of stuff that arouses positive emotions, like photos of your family, etc.
And why health? When you are organized, you don’t have to worry about being late or getting overwhelmed with tasks, because you are always up to date with everything you are doing. Also, if your place is neat and clear, you will feel much more comfortable spending time there. The topic of being organized and keeping one’s working place in order is quite large and you can expect a whole post dedicated to this quite soon!
