Plot: Zayne hates carrots. He’d rather starve than eat them. But you are his beautiful, headstrong and stubborn Indian wife, and you have just the idea to make him love carrots~

Zayne hated carrots since he was a child. He was never really a picky eater, but something about carrots just didn’t sit right with him. The look of them, the texture, the taste. Just…no. And so he avoided them like the plague, refused to get them anywhere near his mouth.
But you, his sweet, beautiful Indian wife, made it your mission to make him like carrots somehow. You found his disgust for them amusing, but they were healthy, and you were stubborn, knowing your stoic husband’s will always bent when it came to you.
Zayne had married you two years ago, and in that time, he’d learned two things:
1. Your smile could disarm any of his arguments.
2. Your food could make him forget everything else.
Except carrots. He had drawn the line at carrots. You had tried everything- carrot soup, roasted carrots, even sneaking them into parathas once (he found out within two bites and sulked the whole day). But today, you seemed unusually confident.
The kitchen smelled like heaven. Well, heaven if you ignored the faint orange tint to everything.
Zayne leaned against the doorway, arms folded, watching you hum to a Bollywood tune playing softly on your phone. Your bangles clinked like wind chimes as you stirred the pan, the sunlight catching the flecks of saffron in your hair.
“Something smells suspiciously healthy,” he muttered, narrowing his eyes.
You turned around, all mischief and sunshine. “It’s not healthy, it’s delicious. You’re just dramatic.”
“I can sense carrots,” he said flatly, as though detecting a deadly toxin.
Your laugh filled the room. “You and your irrational hatred of carrots! What did a poor vegetable ever do to you?”
“They’re orange,” he said solemnly, “and deceitful. They pretend to be sweet but taste like earth.”
“Zaynie,” you said, trying not to laugh, “you literally eat protein bars that taste like cardboard.”
“That’s different. Those build muscle.”
“And this builds love.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Carrots build love?”
You winked. “You’ll see.”
“Alright,” he said, walking in cautiously, “what are you plotting this time?” “Gajar ka halwa,” you announced proudly, holding up a spoon like a sword.
He blinked. “Gajar… what?”
“Carrot halwa,” you said with a grin. “A traditional Indian dessert. Trust me, if you don’t fall in love with carrots after this, I’ll never make them again.”
Zayne eyed the bubbling pot suspiciously. It was orange- bright, unapologetically orange- but it smelled like butter and cardamom and something… comforting. He eyed it the way one might regard an alien specimen. “You’re not serious,” he muttered.
You sighed, exasperated but fond. “You promised you’d try everything I make without complaint.”
“I was emotionally compromised when I said that.”
“You were in love,” you corrected. “Same thing.”
“Zaynie!” You laughed, shaking your head, going to wrap your arms around his neck, eyes shining with love and exasperation. “Come on, I cooked it with so much love. At least try it, please?” And there went his poor heart, far out of his reach, his will once more non-existent in front of you.
“Fine,” he sighed. “But if I die-”
“I’ll bring you back with halwa.”
He smirked despite himself. “You’re dangerously confident.”
He sat down at the dining table obediently, watching you bring a bowl, your excitement evident. “Just try it. It’s sweet, soft, rich, and absolutely divine.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Like you, then?” You threw him a look that was half flustered, half victorious. “Flattery won’t get you out of this.”
“It was worth a try.”
The halwa glistened with ghee, topped with crushed almonds and a single cashew, just the way you liked to decorate everything with care. Zayne picked up the spoon hesitantly. The smell was intoxicating, warm and sweet, with none of that earthy bitterness he loathed. He took a bite.
And froze.
It melted on his tongue- rich, spiced just right. The carrots had turned into something soft and golden, like they’d absorbed all the love you had poured into the dish. The taste hit him like a revelation. It was warm, buttery, almost caramelized. The sweetness melted into the soft crunch of nuts, and the faint scent of cardamom lingered like a memory.
“…This is made of carrots?” he asked slowly.
“Told you,” you said, too smug to even try and hide it.
“I don’t believe it.”
“Believe it, mister. You’ve officially been converted.” He looked at you, incredulous and smiling. “You just… turned my enemy into dessert.”
You laughed, pride evident. “That’s called the power of Indian wives.” He leaned forward, voice low and teasing. “Should I be scared?” “Terrified,” you said sweetly, feeding him another spoonful before he could protest. “So, do you love it?”
He leaned forward, resting his chin in his hand. “I love you,” he said. “And if loving you means loving carrots… maybe I can make an exception.”
You gasped dramatically. “Did Doctor Zayne, the great carrot-hater, just confess his undying love for gajar ka halwa?”
He smiled, grabbing your wrist gently, pulling you closer. “No. I confessed my undying love for the woman who made me love it.” You rolled your eyes, cheeks turning pink. “Smooth talker.”
“You married me for it.”
“And here I thought it was for your jawline.”
He chuckled, resting his forehead against yours. “That too, Mrs. Carrot Crusader.”
Later that evening, you both sat on the couch, cuddled up together, a movie playing in the background, a bowl of halwa in between. Zayne tried to steal the last spoonful, but you caught his hand midair, raising an eyebrow playfully.
“Excuse me, I made it.”
“And I conquered my fear,” he countered, mock-serious. “Fear?” You giggled. “You make it sound like carrots were your nemesis.”
“They were,” he said dramatically, “until you, my brave Indian wife, came to rescue me with your magical sweets.” You laughed so hard that you almost spilled the bowl. “Zaynie! You’re impossible.”
He smiled softly, watching you glow under the warm light, his heart fluttering once more as he found himself getting lost in your beauty. “And you’re… everything.”
Your laughter faded into a small, shy smile. “Even with the carrots?”
“Especially with the carrots.”
You smiled, heart full of love as you fed him the final bite of halwa. “See?” You whispered, leaning against his shoulder. “Told you love can change anything.”
Zayne looked down at you, your hair brushing his arm, your laughter still echoing in his mind, and thought:
Yes. Love- and maybe a little ghee.

But imagine zayne with an Indian girlfriend/wife (yes very self indulgent) who decides to make it her life’s mission to make him like carrots. And she has an idea.
GAJAR KA HALWA!! (Carrot halwa, which is an Indian dessert made from carrot, sugar, dry fruits and much more and is DELICIOUS)
And then Zayne is very suspicious because he’s never seen carrots look this way or be SWEET, but because he has a sweet tooth and loves his wife so much, he very very reluctantly gives it a try.
And then his eyes go wide because WHAT IS THIS SORCERY? How can carrots taste this good?
And from then on the only way he will ever eat carrots is if his beloved wife makes him gajar ka halwa and she is so triumphant.
I THINK IM COOKING SHOULD I TURN THIS INTO A FULL FIC??
OKAY here comes the God of annihilation breakdown and theories! My thoughts are very scattered and I’m writing this at 12 am so please bear with me, I’ll try my best to make sense! And also if i miss any details or you guys know something i don’t PLEASE tell me!!
Alright so SPOILER WARNING FOR GOA, read ahead only if you are prepared for that!!
Okay honestly this myth hit me in the feels it was so fucking sad😭 but anyway time for the theories my overthinking has come up with!
1. I definitely believe this was Zayne and MC’s beginning. Like this is before foreseer and master of fate. The reason why i say this is because firstly they’re both gods, they were alive for centuries and Zayne had practically unlimited power and wisdom- of the past, present and the future. MC was also very powerful; even if she did die previously and was brought back to life by Zayne.
And also because MC literally experiences every single lifetime with zayne- sees glimpses of all of them, because Zayne, as the God of Annihilation, had ultimate wisdom. He taught her the principles of civilisation for Niava. And so, he also knew of all the lifetimes they’d spend- incomplete and ill-fated.
2. This leads me to the soul crushing assumption- that Zayne and MC truly are doomed. In no life have they had a happy ending, in no life has fate led to a happy ending. And you know what’s so scary? Our present timeline zayne is included in that. Because while MC sees glimpses of all their lives- all of them incomplete and sad mind you- the scene from Zayne standing in front of a graveyard is mentioned. And that was when Doctor zayne left MC. When he chose to accept the will of Astra.
Even GOA did so many calculations and what not, and all of them failed- no outcome arrived with a happy ending as such, and even with all his eternal wisdom of the past and future, he himself stated that they were meant to say farewell since the very beginning. He knew they wouldn’t end up together- all he did was so that she’d be alive, even if it meant he’d disappear forever.
And as much as it HURTS me to say this, it could be that they’re a doomed pairing to begin with- bound to reunite but always separate no matter what. I don’t know how they’re going to ensure that current timeline zayne, an ordinary doctor will manage to change this fate, when the literal GOD of annihilation could not. But let’s see!
3. This leads me to Astra. Who is Astra, really? Because one thing is clear- God of Annihilation was all powerful, and he HAD the creatio protocore. He managed to get it (albeit with a great sacrifice) and even resurrected MC with it. However; Foreseer also had the creatio protocore- only he can’t seem to control it to his will, bound by Astra. And when he gives it to MC? Death, and the never ending cycle of him forgetting her and meeting her again.
But where did this fucker even come from; if GOA was so powerful? Heck even Master of Fate exists!
There’s two ways one could look at this:
- Astra is not a full “GOD” per say, but simply an amalgamation of Fate. In all their lifetimes, fate is something that Zayne and MC struggled against, but could never emerge victorious. They defy fate again and again, just for their love; even when they are destined to fail. And yet Fate is the one thing that even Gods have not been able to change. Fate, is Zayne’s shackle.
So perhaps this fate has a name and voice- Astra. But what if this fate is not inherently evil? Hear me out- I HATE Astra. But let’s look at him from a different lens. Astra has always wanted zayne to reach his full potential. To seek the greatness that awaits him. We hear him say that too in the main story, (i don’t remember the exact lines) saying something along the lines of how he is destined to be powerful, but he throws it away for MC. Zayne has always been powerful. He has always been extraordinary. Love is not meant for him, or so fate thinks. And so too, Astra thinks.
- I saw many people speculate before the myth fully came out that either MC or Zayne could be Astra. Which after reading the myth; is definitely not true. She’s a unique variable in herself. Buttt there could be another way to look at things with Zayne.
What if GOA became Astra? Now I don’t fully agree with this either, but it is interesting to think about. He’s alive after the myth- devastated and aching. His MC is frozen in time eternally, a fate worse than death. Will she ever be resurrected? Difficult to say. GOA stayed in the tower after Niava and MC fell. He had the creatio protocore and after losing her; probably became angry.
So he traps himself in fate’s shackles for her sake- keeping himself away from her knowing that it would lead only to separation. Now of course it’s complicated and not that likely because firstly why would he torment himself like that and purposefully make himself forget her when they could just be happy together. And also we have heard Astra’s voice, and it’s not Zayne’s
And GOA already saw what happens with Foreseer, so i doubt he’s the cause behind it. But even then, with Zayne’s self sabotaging tendencies and extremely complex character, anything is possible with him!
4. Dawnbreaker definitely exists as a separate entity. After the main story update when our zayne also ended up becoming dawnbreaker, people speculated that perhaps he was dawnbreaker all along, and they do not exist separately. But again, in GOA, MC sees fragments of dawnbreaker amongst those lifetimes too- covered in black ice, alone and in a broken world. But I fully believe he exists separately in a parallel universe to doctor zayne.
5. The scene with the Fractal library at the end is VERY important. Because it could be the very answer that Zayne is looking for. In the end, a book with melting snow is on the ground- the book containing the life of GOA and MC. The fractal library is also where Our Zayne is now, along with that weird child or whatever. And it’s Astra who wants him there. But why would Astra guide zayne to a library that could hold all the answers he’s looking for?
If zayne goes through that library, he will have the knowledge of countless lifetimes with MC, countless answers. Perhaps he can even find a solution to their twisted fate. Perhaps that’s why Zayne accepted Astra’s will- under a guise of accepting his fate, but secretly wanting to find answers. But then had that been the case; he would’ve accepted the offer ages ago right? Well wrong. Because he believed he could be with MC.
The only time zayne conforms to fate is when he hurts MC, or figures out she will get hurt by him staying. Otherwise, lifetime after lifetime he’s fought tooth and nail to stay with her, to cherish every second with her. That’s the essence of their love- knowing doomsday awaits, but still clinging onto every single moment.
I’m more curious to see just how much Zayne truly knows about himself and their fate. Because he knows way more than he’s letting on- after all Astra’s been behind him all this time.
6. This isn’t a theory, but something that has confounded me ever since MOF came out- THERE ARE SO MANY ZAYNES! Now even GOA is technically alive. He’s a god, he can’t die! So now all of Zayne’s versions are technically alive (foreseer as Astra’s tool cannot die and is in slumber I believe)
Zayne is the ONLY Li till now to have so many variants of him alive and existing, all independent of each other! Foreseer had INDEPENDENT multiple lifetimes. GOA and MOF can’t exactly die either because they’re divine beings. Dawnbreaker exists, and so too does the Doctor.Zayne’s story is so complex and so vast; especially with so many of his versions being alive (I’d take them all happily- not in a fight).
It truly makes me wonder how infold will tie all of this together, cuz it’s a LOT.
So yes, this was my GOA rant! It is highly possible i missed out on things so pleaseee let me know in the comments, and if there’s lore idk then let me know because i am OBSESSED with this man. Overall the myth was devastatingly beautiful, so well written that I shed tears along with my man.
