Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
I love coffee. It wakes me up in the morning and gives me a boost of energy. I drink coffee almost everyday and Starbucks just doesn't cut it anymore. I'm becoming a coffee snob lately and trying to find great beans to make the best cup of coffee at home. The Kitchn recently posted a recipe for homemade pumpkin spice latte, and I gave it a try. I roasted a kabocha pumpkin and used blue bottle's hayes valley espresso beans. I reduced the amount of sugar and used 2% organic milk. It was definitely good, but I realized that I'm more of a caramel macchiato or mocha kind of girl.
Countdown to my first half marathon
I've run 2 10k's in the past and been thinking about running a half for a while. The big day is Sunday Oct 19th. This will be my first race in the states. I'm starting to get nervous. It's supposed to be a difficult course (with steep hills), but I know I will kick ass!

My Lone Plant
It's not news to me that I'm a plant killer, but I've always wanted to have an herb garden, and spending hours watching the Food Network made this desire even stronger. Maybe I'm really not supposed to be doing this, cuz I've managed to kill 1 basil plant, 2 thyme plants, and threw out a rosemary plant (ok, I freaked out when I saw a centipede in it). It was so discouraging that I almost threw in the towel completely. One of my friends convinced me to give it one last try, and I'm so glad that I did! Check out my basil plant! I've had it for over a month now, and it's thriving! Yay, time to make some pesto =)
Garmin vs. Runkeeper
Yes, I'm a geek. I admit it. I love my gadgets! I don't care what you people think when I have a million things on me while I run. I'm kinda obsessed with being precise, and I need to know my numbers. It is great that we have all these apps on our smartphones these days, but I still find that it's my old buddy (my ancient forerunner 305) that's more accurate. I really need to run on a track one of these days to see exactly how accurate it is.
