Love Letter #924

Went outside this morning, 3am, and the moon was smiling. It’s like it knew. Knew you were inside sleeping. I looked up, and I smiled back. And I thought about my letter.....

If I wrote you a love letter, it would start out like a country song. I’d say you remind me of the moon, full of the light I need. I’d tell you that you are cool like the night, and you soothe me. That I need you to rest easy. To dream. I’d say the days with you are like long rides thru winding roads. That I can’t get there fast enough when I’m coming for you. I’d say you are brighter than the neon in our favorite place. That your smile warms my heart, like the fireplace we cuddle next to. That you take care of me in a way that is music to my heart. I want to wake up next to you. Everyday. Every day. How I want to be what you want, because that’s what I want. That I miss you when you’re not here, and will kiss you when you are. I’d say you are mine and I am yours then, now, forever. As long as I live. How real love never goes away. Never dies, even if I do. If I wrote you a love letter, I’d tell you all this.

Volkswagen “Ballyhoo” advertising, 1971. These UK press ads where created to publicise the latest range of colours including several much brighter than previously offered. A number of 1300cc Pastel White cars were overpainted by VW (GB) for marketing purposes and displayed in dealerships before eventually being sold off. The cars got their Ballyhoo name from Safer Motoring magazine’s editor Bob Wyse who used it in an article.

Crystal Pepsi however made a short comeback recently, showcasing the power of nostalgia…

AMC Gremlin marketing, 1970. Designed by Dick Teague, whose initial sketches were apparently done in-flight on an air sickness bag, the Gremlin was based on a shortened Hornet platform. As the brochure clearly shows it was sold as an American alternative to the VW Beetle, AMC promoting the Gremlin as “America’s first subcompact” (ignoring the Nash Metropolitan amongst others). The car’s cartoon-like mascot was designed to be memorable to consumers, 60% of buyers in 1970 were under the age of 35.
