i have a veeery nose-to-the-grindstone methodology when it comes to my language learning. need to memorize 2 new alphabets? spend hours on end writing romanized lyrics in those two alphabets until i know each letter by heart. need to know new kanji? take a 50-flashcard quiz. then take it again. take it until you get 100%. then take it in reverse. then take it a third way. add another 50 flashcards. take the quiz until 100%. take it in reverse.

it’s effective, as i do memorize it, but by god does it take effort. when i tell people how i’m learning the language they look at me like i’m mad
