After work..
Analysis of wear and damage on Figure 02
November 19, 2025
F.02 contributed to the production of 30,000 vehicles at BMW
According to data published by Figure AI, Figure 02
-completed work shifts up to 10 hours
-loaded over 90.000 parts
-has more than 1.250 hours of runtime
Take a look at the areas where surface wear and damage appears more pronounced on its hardware (This review is made on RobotB007)
1. Lower chest front plate
Linear scratches (mostly vertical)
Paint is chipped on the label "made in
California"
Is likely caused by the load transfer process.
When the robot carries mass close to its torso, it leans its upper body forward to keep its center of gravity intact. During lifting the parts of the car, leaning against carts/metal, the lower chest is exposed to contact.
2. Shoulder actuator housing (A2•Torque
50Nm•ROM 148°)
Little scuffing on the actuator cap.
Likely happened because it is a joint that's
constantly moving.
3. Upper leg and shin
Shallow scratches with varied directions.
One of the areas with most surface wear.
Is likely caused by work surfaces at knee height. Robots legs are slightly bent when working to keep its balance. That's why it is more likely to scrape against surfaces than when it's standing straight.
4. Soft stop/Inside elbow
Small abrasion on honeycomb grill.
Probably dust accumulation inside.
Visible scratches around it.
The grill is for cooling airflow and soft spot mechanism. Inside its elbow constantly makes constant with the load its carrying.
5. Hands
This is the area with the most wear. Mostly the outer and inner edges of the hand.
Vertical cuts on the padding positioned on the robots palm is exposed to sharp edges when picking up metal/objects.
Horizontal scraping below the padding, on the right hand mostly along the edge, on left closer to thumb.
Outer sides of its hands and knuckles has almost no damage except the fingers.
Edge of its pinky finger seems to be constantly scraping against the surfaces.
Paint chipped on the thumbs.
Left hand seemingly has more visible damage than the right.
Damage on the hands are the most expected since it is the area that makes the most contact with the load its carrying, using its palm and fingers to hold and carry the objects.
