Legacy and Influence

There's reasons why people love the city of LA and there's reasons people hate it. It could be as simple as growing up there or watching your first NBA game and it so happened to be the Lakers you were watching. For me, the imprint the Lakers put on my life and my love for basketball is roaring more than ever. I guess you could say I'm a little biased since I did grow up there. It could be as simple as you wearing that has Lakers on it while you're visiting Boston and that could be the reason someone hates your guts that day. Not only did they an influence on individuals, but they made such an influence in society in general. The legacy that they have left behind them and the legacy that they're still leaving now is remarkable. There's so much history within the organization and even outside of it. I proud to say that I'm happy to be a Laker Fan.

From MPLS to LA

You have probably seen it before, but these jerseys you see above and below have a story behind them.

They aren't there just for display, well actually then kind of are. These jerseys represent the original place of where the Lakers came about. They were first from Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1958 and ended up moving to Los Angeles in 1960. The most simple only reason really was because they were broke and were making any profit Minnesota. As a team moves you would think that you would change the name along with it, well they didn't. And they didn't do it because the league actually preferred they'd not do that and so they kept it. "Lakers", I'm guessing and am very positive that they got the name because they came from the "Land of 10,000 Thousand Lakes".

Dominance

Shaquille O'neal, talk about a player with such dominance within the game. He couldn't and couldn't dribble, but why was he so dominant? His strength and the amount of power that came with was impeccable. He wasn't the tallest, the fastest, couldn't shoot, and couldn't dribble very well either. But when you have a peak Shaq "Diesel" at 7'1 and 390lbs coming at you at full force it's pretty damn hard to stop. During his time in the league he could over power any player that stood in his way, even the nittiest and grittiest players out there. I would even say so myself that if you put prime Shaq into the league now, he would still would be as dominant as he was back then. The only two players I think who could give him a run for his money would be Steven Adams and Victor Wembanyama. For the most part ever since he stepped on that court he's been the most paint dominant player there has ever been.

Talk about a performance. Who else, literally who else could've put on this display, could I even say a masterpiece. For someone to have even a 60 point games is crazy. Then hearing about 70 games is almost unheard of, but of course someone had to do it. Breaking the 80 point mark and to be exact, 81 points and ending it on a free throw. Also scoring this amount of points on some notable players like, Chris Bosh, Jalen Rose, and Charlie Villanueva. This is the only known display that we know of apart from Wilt Chamberlains 100 point game even though I think it's fake, for most points scored in singular game. It is such a notable game in NBA history that there's a funny commercial with Kobe and Jalen about that game, since Jalen was guarding him most of that time.

Top Three Lakers Teams of All Time

The 2001 Lakers 56-26 Record: NBA Champs over Philadelphia 76ers This Shaq and Kobe team is undeniably and easily the best Lakers team of all time. The pure dominance that came with this team let alone just with Shaq and Kobe is uncanny. Also winning back to back to back championships in a time where the competitiveness and physicality between players was at an all time high.

The 2010 Lakers 57-25 Record: NBA Champs over Boston Celtics with Kobe, Pau, Fisher, Odom and more is right there with the three peat. Going head to head with those Celtics during that 3-5 years span from 2005-2010 is one tuff era. This period of time in basketball screams 'rivalry' from head to toe. I would say that their rivalry screamed over the world to, everyone knew that these were the games to watch.

The 1985 Lakers 62-20 Record: NBA Champs over Boston Celtics The Showtime Lakers were so advanced for their time in the 80's that they also were giving out losses to everybody and also during the Finals, hence why they are on this list. They won five Championships during the 80's and also had back to back years where they won in 1987 and 1988.
