An Open Letter

Hi Conrad and Teen Creeps,

We hugely appreciate the work that you do supporting the local music scene - in the past few years you have allowed us to play with the likes ofEast India Youth and Nzca Lines. Unfortunately by now it's clear that you don't intend on paying us the fee for the gig that we did for you on the 15th February this year supporting NZCA Lines at Sticky Mike's Frog Bar. Like all small bands, we put an incredible amount of money, effort and time into our band and never come close to seeing a monetary profit from our work. Making money is not why we make music but being paid, especially when promised, by promoters like yourselves, is just a small way we can feel a sense of recognition for the time and effort we put into what we love doing.

Music is, and always will be about bringing people together through the common enjoyment of something beyond monetary value - the fact that you refuse to pay us £30 (roughly the cost of just three tickets for that particular gig which was near sold out) - that you refuse to even acknowledge our emails regarding the subject - shows a disregard for, and misunderstanding of, the music scene and the important role small bands like us play in it.

We can only hope that you will learn to understand the level of commitment and love that local Brighton bands have for what they do and perhaps will learn to show respect for that.
