@kaoskreates
just finished my shotgun
one more layer and shotgun will be finished
keys will take a lot of coats to cover. paint isnt great and my airbrush has decided to stop spraying despite having cleared the nozzles out multiple times so have to hand paint them all
bored today waiting on stuff drying.. made some keys
shotgun nearly finished
Doom helmet
had to respray my armor now.. had just put a clear coat on it and went to spray my bullets. like a dumbass didnt move armor out the way and the plasti dip has gone everywhere and wont come off :)
not that i didnt think of it before doing anything but ignored it and thought it would be fine where it was. JUST MOVE THE DAMN THING
following first test fit, i took everything off to find i was covered in green
i hadnt sealed anything yet so after this i decided to do so. should stop paint transfer. just a small tip to learn from my mistakes (its not easy being green)
first full test fit
first problem, cant get the shoulder pads on as i cant move my arms across enough to be able to pull them up. need to have them attached to the chest piece. not sure how yet so they sit in the right position and dont get in the way of actually being able to get into this
the helmet turned out too big - one mistake i learned. i was using a thick marker to draw the templates and cutting out at the top of the line which resulted in the whole thing turning out bigger than it should have. since this i only use a biro now so the pieces turn out the same size as the template
i had to add padding to it as it was sitting too low down and getting stuck on my armor to the point i couldnt even move my head. this raised it to fix that issue. the lower rim i added around the bottom has ended up working perfectly to help hold it in place. with the raised padding my chin now sits exactly on the bottom of the rim so it is held on. didnt measure anything for that it just happened to work out lol
i also made the visor removable by holding it on with magnets. only have the clear one currently but i will also be making a black and a chrome version so this method allows it to be interchangeable
made some shotgun shells for my belt
Doom armor
barrels painted with krylon matte black. the fore end hasnt worked as i wanted, i cut all the lines in but this foam does not respond at all to heat treatment to open them and sealing with plasti dip has closed nearly all of it back up. resorted to drawing them on with sharpie. might end up redoing this piece. i need to get some cf100 high density foam which hopefully responds to heat in opening detail lines
it is nearly finished now otherwise. not sure what to do to add the grip detail yet
made the pouches for doomguy belt
armor test fit
nightmare to get it closed by myself but eventually managed it lol. had to add some to one side so there is more length for me to be able to reach and need to lie on the floor to be able to push the sides together and in. using buckles as velcro wasnt working for me, it was leaving big gaps i didnt want to be visible. its not easy getting the angles right to get these in but am eventually able to do it now. i secure one side, pull it over my head and lie on the floor to get the other side closed once its on
Doom armor + helmet
Doom helmet - finished? i think. not sure if i’ve overdone the paint job. meant to only do some areas of weathering and ended up just doing everywhere so not sure about it
