Okay, first thing's first. I LOVED YOUR MINT TRUNK! MaShaAllah! And all those vintage jewelry? Woman, you've got one helluva collection. MaShaAllah! :) And other than this, I read some of your blogs. Found it interesting. Reminded me of my days working as an intern at Femina. Keep it up!
Thank you so much :) you have made my day. Intern at Femina eh? that magazine from India? you have inspired me to work harder
Summer Favourites
Hey all. Been a long while since I've updated my blog. So, to entertain you all, I am going to share my current summer favourites. Hardly a style/fashion guru so this is just a reflection on what I love as opposed to fashion advice. 1: The Mint Trunk Honestly, how cute is this mint trunk from Anthropologie? Currently storing most of my jewellery in there. 2: The Vintage Purse You know how much I love quirky vintage finds. I have sported this purse in many shaadis and formal events. People instantly fall in love with it. And rightly so! 3: The Quirky Hijab I usually fall instantly in love with what screams out my name. This baby was begging for attention. Yes. Yes it does have horses on it. 4: The Silver Necklace Those are pure silver beads, threaded together to give a tribal chic look. Love the bits of bright beads in between. 5: The Egyptian Medallion Necklace It is beautiful, ethnic, Egyptian and has Arabic engravings on it. What is not to love? That's all for now people. I just want to say that I have a secret desire of travelling via air with my mint trunk as hand-carry. Mom thinks they will throw me out of the plane. Oh well.
I loved some of your posts. Will read more later but in the meantime - Hello! and thanks for the follow :)
Hello! You are too kind. Thank you :)

Macarons Mania
Couldn't come up with a wittier title. But here is some macronage. This was not easy.
The Last of the Calligraphers Had to share one more short documentary film on the calligraphers of The Musalman. This is the epitome of what an Indian society should look like- harmonious, united and driven by passion.
The Musalman- Urdu Calligraphy Newspaper This has me thoroughly fascinated. In an era where digital publishing has become the norm, one newspaper manages to stay alive- literally, one. It is the last surviving handwritten newspaper in the world. What makes me proud is that it is Indian, has calligraphy, and is the epitome of sheer passion and love. A lot of articles have been written on it so I won't bore you with words. This documentary film is a MUST WATCH.
hinglish project is a font design that playfully combines the Devanagari (god’s city) and the English alphabet. Letters are superimposed according to the phonetic codes they share.
The font is not particularly helpful as a language learning tool, however decodes the letter and makes India...
Mary Had A Little Lamb. Foomi Turned it into Lamb Chops.
Foomi Cooks Up a Storm
Lovers, If you know me, you know that I love cooking and the whole experience from there to my mouth. A fully equipped kitchen is a blessing. In light of that, I always take advantage of it when I come home during holidays. As soon as I arrived, I spotted this book. I just had to try a recipe. Or two. I decided to try Murgh Masala first. Major ingredients: Onions, tomatoes, chicken and yoghurt. Thoughts: the recipes in the book have been designed keeping non-desi's in mind. The reason being, the amount of spices mentioned in the recipe did nothing for our palates. I had to add a little extra of this and that to suit our taste. I tried another recipe from this book. Chicken with Cilantro and Almonds Once again, I added a little bit of this and that as per our taste. I may try some other recipes from the book soon.
What would you do if you were a Tyrannosaurus Rex ?
I'd spread tyranny. Duh.
What have I learned today?
I surprised myself at a group study session today. Lately I have been feeling a lot like the old me. The Pre-University me. Very Type A, go-getter, need-to-win feelings have been consuming me. It could be because as the time for graduation is nearing, the pressure is making me hit back at it with enough force so as to not let it sink me. I learned that there are so many improvements I need to make in myself. Will this battle never end? Realised that I am surrounded by some amazing people and I have not been tapping into their energy enough. Will exploit their intelligence further and learn from them. Most important lesson for today, express love when you can towards your loved ones. You need it more than they do. Oh and de-cluttered my room. What a relief! Now I know why housemaids are so hot. The sheer exertion makes one glow. *glows to sleep*
"The World is a Treasure and it is a Serpent"
The Love Story of Alif and Ba
The alif is disengaged. It's sitting in the forefront of Divinity. Ba has love for it in its heart and has thrown its head down at its feet. Ba fell into the footsteps of alif. It said, " Why did you come?" It replied, "I will be your explanation. I have one dot, and that's the love for you that I have in my soul. I'm the meaning of alif. I speak the secret of disengagement." Shams-i Tabrizi I complete you and you I. Why then, do you remain so aloof?
Nothing in Particular
How are you all? I have nothing in particular to write about. Therefore, I am about to doodlewrite. I have been swamped with essays. I doubt I have ever done so much writing in the span of such little time before. I have always been the one to do my best under pressure. There are so many books that need my attention. I wonder if I will ever be able to finish the ones off of my list. So much knowledge to be gained and such limited time. But then, when is time ever enough? I think someone else likes the one I love. And I don't like this. Go get your own. InshaAllah will make an effort to write more.
