Long time no see! Life has been crazy as life often is, and since The Witcher 3's third dlc was announced I had been itching to replay... so I did! And it made me want to make myself a new phone background. I love Geralt to death.

Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

Geralt is such a good protag to me because he is an impossibly good monster hunter and swordsman, has 1/3 of the continent's population (male and female) in love with him, is very articulate and intelligent- and yet he is still a bit of a loser. Girldad to deeply concerning teenager. Is in a 30-year-long situationship. Falls out with his best friend like they're on the playground. Spends all the money he barely scrapes up on a new jacket. Immediately ruins said jacket. So it goes.

I'll remind you that Cheng Xiaoshi memorizes the day, month, and hour of his death, without knowing the meaning of it.

In episode 12 of season 2, Qiao needs Lu's cell phone password, and it's revealed that the password is "091305" (09 = month, 13 = day, and 05 = hour). Cheng happened to see it one day and memorized it from that moment on.

Somewhat disturbing, in my opinion.
