I bought some small 1″ x 2″ canvases at the art store with the thought that my small textile pieces would make some interesting jewelry: brooches or pendants. I can get 8 brooches out of a 5″ x 5″ fabric piece. They look similar, but they are all different. Each of them has a unique trimmed edge.

These experiments are 5″ x 5″. I have used dollar store yarns, metallic threads, netting and sheer fabrics. Sometimes I throw in pine needles, moss and leaves. All the textile pieces are layered and layered until I am happy with how it looks, then one piece of water soluble stabilizer is placed under it all and one piece on top. Everything is pinned together and away I go on my sewing machine. My all metal sewing machine is over 40 years old, and is a workhorse. I free stitch over everything, then rinse away the stabilizer. MAGIC!!!
