the thing that makes lankey so beautiful to me is that there's such depth to it if you're delusional enough to look for it. monkey doesn't just love lani because she's pretty, he loves her because she's such a capable and kind person. their very first interaction we see him in awe of her mechanical skills, something that he's obviously very passionate about. i see people sometimes mischaracterize him as the playboy type who flirts with every girl he sees, and i think that not only diminishes his love for lani and makes him look like a creep, but it's also just blatantly not who he is. he never shows any interest in karma, and the fact that lani being a tomboy type (at least in her interests) is what draws monkey to her shows to me that his affection is way more than just 'he saw a pretty girl and that was that'.
