it’s so funny that every single person who read these books as a child are equally affected by the ending. i wonder if libba did this on purpose so we wouldn’t stop thinking about it

i’m in my feels again! so i reread the short story which didn’t help because it’s too short! i am 28 i am too old for this!
also srry to the earnest peopl replying to my posts or messaging me i genuinely don’t use tumblr
not me at 26 reading Libba Bray’s (wayyy too short) short story about Gemma from December and only now just realizing the realms and the Order/Rakshana was a metaphor for colonialism!!
honestly i feel like i’m now due for a reread with this revelation. the idea of coming back to a book series that really impacted me as a middle schooler and have loved for over ten years at different periods of my life. is really nice.

idk if anyone realized that a new short story came out for the gemma doyle trilogy by libba bray called ‘the scarlet woman’ last year in 2020! i’ve just reread the entire trilogy like 12 years after first reading it and i’m deep in my gemma doyle FEELS.
it was in ‘a universe of wishes’ book and i’ll link a pdf file if anyone wants to read it!
here’s the link to download the epub or pdf files
i literally had to stop reading to process and the more i think about what this would’ve meant to my 13 year old self who experienced her first heartbreak from this series, who got older and built a (dumb) blog around two characters that impacted her so much, the more i cry about it. my heart is so happy. i’m 25 and crying over two characters in a YA book idk if i’m okay.
another year has gone by with no closure for kartik’s fate at the end of the sweet far thing.
WE GOT IT
ok so KARTIK IS ALIVE right cuz it’s Gemma Rao?????? and not just they reconnected in the realms?????
i’m reading the last book in the diviner’s series and oh boy did i have to stop to take a moment when gemma and kartik came up
hi guys! (if there’s still any of you left!) i’m sorry i don’t use this blog but just know that these books still hold a special place in my heart even as a 23 almost 24 year old!! i think i first read these books almost 10 years ago holy cow. but the ending was definitely my first heartbreak and so it sticks with me. i’m probably not going to really use this blog until they make the netflix series that we fucking deserve. i can’t believe i was so upset over these books that i made a blog dedicated to it.
I’m still waiting on my Gemma Doyle Series Movie/TV Adaption.
so in the second diviner's book the dream world seems awfully similar to the realms in gemma doyle trilogy, especially since gemma's mom would say that some people go to the realms in their dreams. and it is confirmed that these two series' take place in the same universe (intentionally or did libba bray just want to drop an easter egg??). let's say they do. so this is a world with both diviners and the order, where magic exists and alternate dream worlds exist. and it is confirmed that everyone who dies has to go to the realms eventually. so could the dream world that ling and henry go to be the realms, and they just have a different way of entering than the order?? or are there different levels to the realms, like different layers of the same place? or are they just two completely different places??. i also haven't finished the book so i don't know much about the dream world but i want to start this discourse now.
hello my friends. so I won the first diviners book like right when it came out (i have no clue where that luck came from) and i was rereading it as an adult and was like wow this is so good so i bought the sequel. i have a very important question in my next post, i just needed this one for context.
I just finished rereading the sweet far thing for at least the fourth time and I am so heartbroken even though I’ve known how the story ends for 8 years
hello my comrades. I think I should use this blog to share that I read Rebel Angels in one sitting and it took me 3-5 hours (I did not keep track unfortunately, I was not anticipating finishing the book today)
It’s a rather long story. I’ll tell you on the way back.” Felicity chides. Pippa is squawking about the way we’ve kept vital information from her, but Felicity’s eyes are on Kartik and me with an understanding that makes me feel suddenly like running for cover. And then she has her arm around Pippa’s shoulders, telling her the story of our adventures in the Gypsy camp in a way that completely exonerates me. I am a noble, self-sacrificing girl who endured his kiss only to save us. It’s so convincing that I almost believe her myself
