my eye is twitching
Wow! My bluesky skeet doing numbers on here.
To all the people saying that Disney didn't do this on purpose? You are so, so wrong. Ever since Winnie the Pooh's original book became part of the public domain, Disney had been looking to replace it as a merch machine. Winnie sold toys, plush and products but now, even if people can't use the red shirt version, the property can be easily tainted by outside influence (like that terrible recent horror movie blood and honey) Stitch is a very, VERY popular merch character and they have noticeably been pushing him even harder. He's an original Disney property with no book attached, and he moves merch. This movie is being made to push him AND promote Disney's new Hawaiian resort. It's clear that every single detail was discussed into the ground by executives and higher-ups. Making fat white tourists look bad in your hour long cg commercial isn't good. Let's just turn that commentary into a fat joke while also claiming our cast is diverse. A slimy win-win for the company.
