i think the key difference between george lucasโs star wars and disneyโs star wars is that lucas is a man with an ideology. someone with a point of view, and all that entails. which comes with ideas of revolution, anti-imperialism, challenging the status quo, cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes. complex and contradictory ideas because thatโs how artists are: complex and complicated people. disney is not. disney is a corporation. a corporation canโt have ideology, because ideology defeats the purpose of profit. and when the only thing you do is to turn on the movie manufacturing machine before you sit down and plan what ideas are you trying to convey to the audience, then your results are going to be washed out corporate garbage. and because when youโre a giant corporation who only cares about selling to the widest audience possible, you canโt take sides. you canโt decide on an idea. because you want to sell your product to people who are on the entire political spectrum. which results in movies without ideology, without purpose, without soul.
I have been looking for this post for years after I came across it and itโs finally here and I need to reblog this because it is absolutely and entirely accurate.

Every post i see about Himeko not being the real Himeko or Himeko never having stepped foot on the Express or anything in those lines i want to bang my head against the wall a little harder.
Because its missing the point! Its missing the point so fucking hard!
It doesnt matter if itโs not the original Himeko! I mean like yes it does, but not in that way.

It is literally said straight up in Himeko Novaโs drip marketing. She is Himeko, and she is the Crewโs family - just the same as sheโs been the entire time.
Hoyoverse has literally made this same point clear, in like, so many of the other characters, particularly SPs. I mean for fucks sake, EVERNIGHT??
Evernight isnt March, she cant replace March, but she is still a part of March. She is both an extension of March 7th, and her own identity. It is paradoxical yes, but hoyoverse LOVES its paradoxes.
Our Himeko is a creation and more or less extension derived from the original Himekoโs wishes and desires, particularly for who she wishes she could become. But while Himeko is created in the ogโs image, she is still her own person. And she is as much Himeko as the original was. (Tbf theres a damn good chance theyโve both had similar life spans-)
4.0 literally started us off with something not too far removed from this. Sparxie vs Sparkle, and whose the real Sparkle? And we got the conclusion there: it doesnโt even matter which is the original, theyโre both Sparkle!
It will not matter in the end, that our Himeko is not the original. Because she is still Himeko, and she is and has always been our Himeko.
Himeko Nova is going to be one of two things, in my opinion. Either its a fusion of the two Himekos (which considering Og Himeko seems dead dead? Mmm..) or sheโs Himeko letting go of the past; letting go of the image the Original Himeko created her to be, and being her own fully fledged person.
I cant imagine there being much of a negative reaction at all, towards the whole Og vs Our Himeko issue.
Except for from Welt. Welt is probably going to have emotions. Or at least should. ngl id be disappointed if he doesnt have some kind of even brief reaction..
But seriously. People are entirely missing the point of Himekoโs character here, and imma slam my head into a wall at this point PLEASE THE THEMES ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE-
Yeah, it seems like a lot of people miss this beautiful parallel between Himeko, Asat, and Sparkle.A Fool and a Mask โ it doesn't matter what you are. You're still you. Mask become you, you become mask, and you can't just throw away who you are.
Our Himeko is always was and will be our Himeko
I don't believe the little-first Himeko is already dead.
It just doesn't add up.
This game really loves using unreliable narrators. Sometimes a character assumes things. Sometimes there are inโgame theories. Sometimes the story has a bunch of different facts because of Mythologics.
We can't be sure of anything โ until a character who was there tells the truth. And even then โ we have to suspect that character might be lying. Because their goal is to confuse us. Or they're saying it to another character โ so their goal is to confuse them โ but we as players take it as truth.
Here โ the whole theory that the little Himeko is dead and our Himeko is a selfโportrait โ was suggested to us by Asat Pramad. But even he wasn't completely sure โ that's why the fire started in the cutscene.Himeko didn't confirm any of the theories.
Facts that don't line up with Himeko's death:
1. We didn't get that stroller shot from the trailer.In patch 4.3 โ that shot wasn't there. So that truth will come in 4.4.I suspect he assumes Himeko is alive.
no wheelchair scene in 4.3.
2. In 4.4, there will be a new location โ 'Saddnes' โ and it will be a hospital. I know this from leaks. Like โ a big abandoned hospital.
3. Himeko promised to talk to someone โ and take us somewhere. That suggests she wants to introduce us to someone.
4. And lastly โ Asat has a very sick daughter. Fourteen years old. And he's surprised that she's living in an apartment with someone else?Wow, dude. Maybe they're her friends. Maybe they're neighbors โ or she was assigned guardians โ because you abandoned your terminally ill daughter alone. And then you're surprised the apartment has signs of two people living there. "Hmm she create a fantasm of her selfr"
went to a new optometrist today wearing my squid facts โsave our freaks dont mine the deepโ shirt from @sarahmackattack that has a strawberry squid on it. and i wasnโt even thinking about it but the optometrist walked in and he was like โoh what does your shirt sayโ so i showed him and he was like โoh thatโs neat!โ and then i thought he might like to know about strawberry squid eyes since they have weird eyes and he is an optometrist and all. so i was like โyeah itโs actually a real kind of squid called a strawberry squid, their eyes are really cool because they have one big yellow-green one and one small blue oneโ and he kind of gasped and went โoh my god thatโs so interesting i wonder why they have that. do you know what their retina composition is like?โ and i watched as he minimized my chart on the computer and started looking up images of strawberry squid and then he googled โstrawberry squid retina compositionโ and he was like โsorry weโll get to your eye exam in a moment i just really want to find outโ LMAO 10/10 optometrist experience will be returning
i think out of all the Character Stories, Himeko's is my favorite. All four parts are so atmospheric and full of... this feeling of loneliness.
The whole story radiates a warm night on the coast โ a starry sky โ the sea blending into the horizon ahead.It's the most mysterious story โ because even though it's written very clearly โ it's also written entirely in metaphors.
So โ I'll break them down a little and write out the text.

Himeko's Character Stories
First story โ about how she fixed the Express. But it's written that she was lost, adrift, and came to the edge of the sea. And the Express spoke to her. Express, train, spoke to her. And show her her own home.
She promised to lead it home โ maybe to follow in Akivili's footsteps.
This is how the story began.
Second story.
Why do we talk about the suitcase? It's important. Why does she say that passengers come and go? So far, the first passengers from her story are Welt and Archive. But everyone else is still on the Express.
This story is just permeated with loneliness. No one can walk the same path as her. (This contrasts with how the other Express members perceive the Express and the Trailblaze.)
It also contrasts with Himeko Nova previewโ "No matter how tangled our pasts or how distant the future, our bond remains unchanged. I am Himeko, Navigator of the Astral Express โ and your family, always looking out at the same horizon as you."
As if something has changed very deeply.
Third story.
So many ideas about memory.
Himeko is so caring โ she really does feel like our mom. I can't.
And there are so many memory themes here. I swear โ don't repeat this thought so many times. But at the end โ they hit us with a dusty sack: "memory shapes the path."And "she will remember to smile when it's time to say goodbye โ she always tells herself that" โ how much does she think about saying goodbye?
Part four.
Seriously โ we don't know who she's talking to?Maybe it's Himeko from the past โ another Himeko โ Graphia โ Aha โ or someone else.
There's a lot to think about here. For example โ the setting is the same as in the first story โ the beach and a meteor shower.
I think the most important thing is the last question.
And that โ despite everything โ Himeko returns to the Express. To us.
Anyway โ I suggest you read these stories yourselves.
I've picked out a few moments that seemed important to me โ moments I want to emphasize.
She can't remember when she became lost. She just walked and walked, on and on into the dark night, chasing the sun and the moon, over and over again โ until she falls.
She remembers what she looked like as a college freshman, remembers her chosen major โ interstellar travel dynamics โ and now she's lying face down in the mud.
She looks up to the stars, and just then sees meteors streaming down: one, two, three... And then more, smaller ones, flickering and flashing ever so finely before a magnificent blaze tore open the night.
Her limbs drag her forward, leading her on to where the land meets the ocean. At the shoreline, the waters jostle against her like how the tide treats that stranded Express, alone and lost.
She walks in and see the scenery outside beginning to change. The Express shows her a myriad of magnificent worlds. They are faraway, beyond her homeworld, yet also close enough to be a simple train ride.
She tries to repair the Express. It starts up only briefly, but it is enough to skid across the sky of her home. She immediately sees the path home. From that altitude, the journey is so short, and even the ocean of her homeworld appears so insignificant.
It asked her whether she'd like to travel together. She wonders what kind of journey that would be.
"A journey to the beginning."
"Let's go then."
Without hesitation, the girl replied, "Just as you brought me home, so would I take you home, too."can
Part II
Himeko has a suitcase.
This suitcase is her treasure trove. Previously, she'd filled it with all kinds of train repair tools to fix up the Express. But now, it's packed with a molecular saw, an escaped satellite, and countless other contraptions โ the embodiment of her whims and the proof of her resolute will.
No travel companion is more faithful to her than this suitcase. Passengers come and go on the Express, and perhaps not even "the conductor" would be able to accompany her and the Express from start to finish.
But she doesn't care. She didn't care when that pretentious blond man left without saying goodbye, just like how she didn't care about her distant homeworld and old friends.
She knows that this journey is lonely. Even if she could get to know like-minded travel companions, even if they showed her generous grace, even if she could witness the end of a complete journey with those companions โ that's all just a momentary fluke.
She knows that this journey is lonely. Nobody can follow in the exact same footsteps as anyone else. Nobody can experience for someone else everything that happens along a journey. All she can rely on are her own two eyes and feet.
That's why she stores inside her suitcase all the sights her eyes have witnessed, and all the footprints her feet have left behind
Part III
Himeko's memory is very good.
The longer the journey gets, the more travel companions she accrues. She can still remember many of them.
She remembers her awkward chit-chats with Pom-Pom, and how the first two passengers aboard the Express were Welt and his blond friend. She remembers how the taciturn Dan Heng defeated the monsters that can swallow stars with just one strike of his lance. She remembers how March 7th had awoken from her icy slumber, all the outfits she'd designed for March, and what March loves the most. She remembers how the Crew arrived at Herta Space Station, how she met (Trailblazer), and how they'd embarked on a new journey once more.
She remembers the specifications for every single component of the Express and how they're assembled. She remembers when to oil the Express's bearings and when each plant on the Express needs watering. She remembers Pom-Pom's non-negotiable bottom line, and that Welt has rather juvenile hobbies. She remembers that Dan Heng is always pulling all-nighters to organize the data bank, and how March 7th loves to sleep in. She remembers the personality, habits, hobbies, birthdays, and other anniversary days of everyone aboard the Express.
And she remembers much, much more.
The greatest pleasure for Himeko is that everyone can safely reach their destination on the Express.
"Traveling always has an end point. When it happens, I'll smile and say goodbye to everyone."
She always says that, and she'll definitely remember to do that.
It's memory that has formed the road she came from, and memory that will eventually return her to the seas from whence she cam
Patr IV
Red - Himeko; Orange - ??? ; Blue - important things.
"What a long journey" She says.
"I've been waiting for so, so long." โโโโ looks at her: "It wasn't bad luck that has led you down this path, but wanderlust and curiosity."
"Of course," she smiles, "But I've experienced far less than what you've been through."
"No, I've never experienced the things you have." โโโโ shakes their head: "There are as many routes as there are pairs of feet."
"Right now, we may be standing in the same place, but we harbor different thoughts and views. "
Together, they look up to the stars in silence, and just then saw meteors streaming down: one, two, three... And then more, smaller ones, flickering and flashing ever so finely before a magnificent blaze tore open the night.
A quiet voice disturbs the still air once more: "What do you see?"
"The stars have finished their journey." She says.
โโโโ laughs: "I, instead, see that their journey is only just beginning."
They do not speak again.
"Let's go back. They're waiting for me."
โโโโ is silent, then asks: "Has the journey so far made you happy?"
She picks up her suitcase and walks back in the direction of the Express without looking back.
So โ honestly, I'm ready to spend a lot of time guessing who Himeko is talking to in the 4th character story.
4.3. spoilers
At first โ it made sense that it was Graphia. But after 4.3, I realized that Graphia never left that planet. And there's a line about 'life experience' โ which also rules out the little Himeko option.
Although โ little Himeko is someone our Himeko wanted to talk to.
(Theory โ that her younger self is still alive. + We will have hospital location in the future. + We don't see the wheelchair scene.)
Maybe it's just some version of Himeko. But 4.3 destroyed all my ideas about what it could be. it just don't fit.
Maybe it can be Himeko Nova...but..it should be 2 person with different experiences and thouths about shooting stars.
There was a theory that it was Aha โ but the line about 'the stars completing their journey' doesn't sound like him at all.
There was a theory that it was Akivili โ but honestly โ a little strange
Pom-pom? Ought. Don't feel it.
Trailblazer? Don't fit.
It should be someone from her past...
But you know who this dialogue does sound like?
Asat. Ryusuke.
Asat โ former Navigator Isee.
They compare perspectives and experiences. 'I'm far behind you in terms of experience' โ Himeko says.
Asat โ former Navigator who abandoned the Trailblaze and Elation and became a Lord Ravager โ says: 'And as for me compared to you โ as many travelers, as many paths.'
Asat โ her father โ asks: 'Has this journey made you happy?'
And she returns to the Express โ to us โ saying goodbye to him.
Anyway.
This character story hasn't left my head since the very start of the game. And honestly? I'm terrified that in 4.4 โ we'll most likely learn the truth.
Besides everything related to Himeko, Graphia, and Asat (and I could talk about that for hours) โ what I loved most in this patch was the relationship between SW and Blade.
You can just see how much she doesn't want him to die. How much she doesn't want him to choose death over them. (And her)
She's so close to just saying: 'I know that's what you dream of. I know the universe might suffer if you don't die. But I don't care โ because you're my family, and I don't want you to die.'
And it's so hard for her to let him go.
I loved their fight by the tree. I loved how SW said she dreams of every Stellaron Hunter fulfilling their own dream. And 'becoming a shadow'(using cartridge) is a small price for that.
There's so much lore here too
.But the whole moment โ ยซyou chose death, and I don't want that โ but I respect your choice, and I'll go with you to the end.ยป
And that moment when SW was reaching for the cartridge (which she's not supposed to use yet) โ when the Lord Ravager threatened her โ and Blade came back and protected her?
There was a line about ยซa blade that protects the ones we love!? ยป
And ยซyou, Blade โ are the best blade the Stellaron Hunters could ever want.ยป
And 'the connection with them is the rope I'll use to climb out of hell.'
His coffin and death could have lasted an eternity. Or years. But he came back the moment his found family was in danger. He came back. And now he has reasons to live.
I'm going to rewatch the cutscenes with these two.
Fuck you Asat. Really Fuck you. Now i hate you. Fuck you. You a genius villain and i hate you. Fuck you.
How dare they (hoyo) stop on this Fucking moment?!? It just the wors moment to stop! I feel so angry for this. Lke..in this moment? Really ? In this moment? Worst and genius cliff hanger ever!! I hate this.
I really want give Himeko all hugs.
+ i need a few lore video now. because all this pach was a huge lore drope and, wow, i think I miss something.
Not all but i think I don't get the answer that Ashveil and March discover.
I'm well aware America doesn't come close to fulfilling it's promises (I've long stopped saying "this is not who we are" and instead shifted to "this is not who we should be."), but it makes me extra angry to think, as we approach the 250th anniversary of a it as a country, we currently have a president of the type that the founding fathers specifically set out to prevent and many of whom would beat with a stick.
Like, demagogues were one of the things they specifically feared and were trying to set up enough checks and balances to prevent.
