Karen tried to memorise the colour of his eyes, the ocean of hazel and green and blue all wrapped into one. The rise and fall of his chest as it moved so close to her own. The smell of gunpowder and metal and blood. It was an almost comforting scent. One that Karen could only ever smell on Frank.
âI gotta do this, okay?â he repeated, his voice firm but gentle and quiet. âAnd you canât follow me on this, alright? This doesnât end well. I cannot do that to you. You have a life Karen, a damn good life, and youâve worked for everything in it. I know what youâve been through hand and like Hell I'm going to put you through it again.â
âYou donât get to make my choices, Frank-â
âJesus, Karen, just stop it, alright?â he snapped.
Karen bit down on her lip, staring down at their feet. So close, but never touching.
âOne day you wonât make it out, you know that, donât you?â she whispered.
âI know that,â he gave a nod. âAnd I wonât have you throw everything away for that.â
âWe can work this out,â she insisted. âAll these people that you say need to pay, we can make them pay, we can do that together.â
âNo, no I do this my way Karen, thatâs the only way this works,â he shook his head.
Karen brought a hand up to cover her subtle sob, shaking her head. Frankâs heart was breaking just watching her, but this is exactly why he needed to leave.
She was the one piece of light in all of this darkness, and he wouldnât be responsible for taking that away. He wouldnât let anyone take that away, least of all him.
âYou...you know I want to,â he admit gently. âYou know that, Karen.â
âThen stay,â she pleaded.
âI wonât do that to you, I wonât,â he shook his head. âI canât be the man you want me to be.â
âI donât want you to be anything, Frank. I want you to be alive, to have a home again and just...be okay.â
âThis is the only way for me,â
âFrank, I donât have expectations for you, I donât have this level that you need to reach for me to-â
âBut you should, Karen,â he sighed. âYou should, because you deserve it. You deserve everything, and I canât give that to you, I canât do it.â
Karen knew she was crying now, and she felt no shame or embarrassment in knowing that Frank was witnessing it.Â
âDonât waste that on me, please,â he whispered.
Karen felt his hand crawl behind her neck, pulling her head in to press a long, lingering kiss to her forehead. But if this was going to be it, if Frank was going to walk out for good, Karen needed something more. Just once.Â
She snapped her head up quickly, staring into his eyes for just a moment before she pressed her lips against his. Frank stilled for a moment before he responded, kissing back with more force and love than Karen had been expecting.Â
Frank liked the feeling of her hands in his hair, the feeling of her body up against his, the smell of her hair and the smoothness of her skin. He had thought about kissing Karen many times before, and now that it was happening, he never wanted it to stop.
But he made her a promise. He would never hurt her again. He would never drag Karen down with him. After all, he could never have the life he wanted for Karen.Â
The room filled with breathless gasps as they pulled apart, leaning into one another, their foreheads resting together.Â
âPlease,âÂ
Guilt welled up in Frankâs body. He wanted to be sick.
âI gotta go now,â
Karen gave a nod, watching as he slung the black duffle bag over his shoulder. She looked up at him one last time, her eyes full of tears even as she tried to smile through them.
âBe careful, Frank.â
âTake care, Karen.â
Okay so Iâm only on episode 4 of The Punisher Season 2 and Iâm reading so much about how problematic this season is. Someone please talk to me discuss what you didnât like about it (apart from Kastle only being in one episode đ)
OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR SEASON 2 OF THE PUNISHERÂ
I cannot believe that Netflix had the audacity to cancel Daredevil. It was the only Netflix Original they did right.Â
Live Another Life
Title: Live Another Life
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Kastle
Warnings: violence, mentions of sexual violence, PTSD, eventual smut
His family is gone; he's completed his vengeance, or so be believes. Now, Frank can be left alone... but the story isn't over. A voice in his head keeps whispering to him that he deserves more than this. Will he listen? Punisher S1 compliant. Rated for future chapters. (Please give me honest critiques!) "Believe it or not, I do know what you're going through." "Your father almost got killed?" "Nope. But people said that I killed my brother."
I really want to get into the Kastle ship, what do I need to watch?
Ideally, all of Daredevil and Punisher on Netflix to fully understand Karen Page and Frank Castle. But if you donât want to watch the entire series, the episodes that really made me ship them were in Season 2 (Kinbaku and Regrets Only is where the chemistry is really notices imo) and then onwards.Â
Give your heart and soul to charity âCause the rest of you, the best of you Honey, belongs to me
My homie, my friend, i have MISSED YOU !!! Can you do a fic where Frank visits Karen at home before she tries to skip town ?? & maybe she can ask him what we were all wondering during Season 3 of Daredevil: where WERE you ??
I HAVE MISSED YOU. AND I HAVE MISSED WRITING. BUT LIFE AND TIME AND UGH IâM BACK THOUGH AND LOVING IT.
A/N: Iâve kept this fic pretty open ended in terms of where Frank has been and wrote as if they had been in contact again after the whole elevator incident. Saving the reunion of that moment for another time.Â
Karen knew every crevice in her apartment that held a weapon and every piece of furniture that could be used as one. She never had to resort to using any of them, of course, thanks to the gun she had on her at all times. But since the incident at the Bulletin, Karen had been without it. So when she heard the window in her spare room being quietly slid open and shut, her heart began hammering in her chest as her eyes scanned around the room for the closest, heaviest makeshift weapon.
She knew that by being in her apartment she had to move quickly. Karen needed to grab the very few things she needed, a few wads of cash she had hidden under the bed, a few pieces of clothing, and get the hell out of there before Fiskâs men came for her.
But maybe it was too late. Maybe she wasnât quick enough.
Reaching for a pot that hung above the stove, Karen pulled it into her hands silently before staring down her hall with wide, panicked eyes. The window ledge was creaking, and the floorboards soon followed with the weight above them.
Someone was in her apartment.
As the creaking continued, as faint as it was, Karen prepared herself to put all of her bodyâs strength into swinging this iron cooking pot into the face of whoever Fisk had sent her way.
âHuh, thatâs a sight,â a rough voice came from the silhouette now standing in the doorway to the spare room. âNever took you for a cook.â
Karen inhaled sharply, her chest heaving with fear and now shock.
âFrank?â she asked, her voice a whisper. âJesus Christ.â
The man stepped forward, his body covered in black clothing, his hand pulling the hood off the back of his head as he continued to stare at her. He watched as Karenâs hand lowered, setting the pot back down on the table, and noticed how shaken she seemed.
Sneaking in through the window was always Frankâs preferred way of visiting Karen, but it had been so long since he last set foot in her apartment, he knew it would have frightened her. Especially now.
âWhat are you doing here?â Karen asked, her voice breathy and tired.
âThought Iâd check in,â he shrugged. âSee if you had a plan for all this shit you seem to be caught up in. Looks like youâve got one in mind though, huh?â
Karen followed Frankâs gaze to the bag sitting on the couch, rolls of money poking out from the top, a bottle of whiskey just visible beneath a sweater.
She took a moment to look back at him, to notice what had changed, to see if Frank was here for any other reason. She knew he was laying low these days, taking care of the bad guys in Frankâs usual style, but otherwise living quietly. Micro, or David as Frank usually called him, would have told him everything about Karenâs situation.
At least, everything that the media had left out. Which meant he more than likely knew why Fiskâs men were after her. That this wasnât just because she pissed him off with her articles or provoked him with her questions. Frank had to know about Wesley and about how serious this was. How far Fisk would go.
âWhere have you been?â Karen asked, trying to steer heir conversation elsewhere.
âNot far,â Frank shook his head. âCame back a few days ago, turned on the news and well, there you were.â
Karen sighed, shaking her head as she rested her hands down onto her hips.
âItâs beenâŠa long week,â
Frank took a moment, letting himself observe everything about her standing there. The way she tapped her foot anxiously, the way her body just kept jolting and moving as if she was afraid of the walls themselves. Her eyes were wider and darker than he had ever saw before.
âYou uh, you could have told me, you know?â Frank began. âI could have helped, I could have-â
âYou could have what? Killed Fisk?â Karen offered with a scoff, folding her arms. âThereâs nothing you could have done, Frank.â
âWhy didnât you?â he asked, shaking his head. âWhy didnât you tell me?â
Karen sighed, looking away from him.
âI didnât tell anyone.â
âI figured that much,â he continued. âBut you could have told me,â
Karen looked to him, nodding her head. There was a very deep, unspoken trust between the two of them, and they both knew that Karen could have opened up to Frank without judgement or fear. But Karen was a stubborn woman.
âItâs not exactly something I want people to know about me,â she shook her head. âIâmâŠIâm not this innocent victim, you know? Iâm notâŠIâm not a good person.â
Frank laughed, shaking his head and pacing around the room.
âYou think good people havenât done some bad shit?â he asked.
âKilling someone isnât âbad shitâ Frank, itâs murder,â she corrected.
âYou think of me as a bad person?â
Karen eyed him carefully.
âThatâs not fair Frank,â she warned. âWhat you do, what youâve doneâŠyou did that because-â
âPaint it whatever way you want, itâs bad, right?â he argued. âBut for good reasons. For the right reasons.â
âI shot him seven times, Frank,â Karen told him firmly. âThatâsâŠthatâs murder.â
Frank shook his head, staring back at her.
âI told you Iâd be here whenever you needed som-â
âI donât need you,â Karen bit back. âAnd if you were smart, you would stay as far from me as possible. Fisk has men in the FBI, if they see you-â
âI donât give a shit about that, Karen!â Frank snapped. âJesus, are you kidding?â
Karen took a deep breath, running a hand over her forehead and brushing back stray hairs.
âItâs not safe for you,â she told him gently.
âIâm not letting you get hurt,â he promised. âI wonât.â
âThis isnât your job,â she took a step closer, putting her hands on his shoulders. âFrank, Iâm not the person you think I am. Who I am, what Iâve doneâŠyou wouldnât feel like this if you knew.â
âI know everything I need to,â Frank fought.
Karen shook her head again, giving him a small smile before she let herself fall into his chest and hold him in a tight hug. Frankâs arms responded a moment later, pulling her to him protectively.
They stayed silent for a few moments, taking a deep breath and smelling the familiar scent of one anotherâs clothes. It was comforting and heartbreaking all at once.
âYou need to go,â she told him softly. âIf anyone sees you Frank-â
âI came here for you,â he shook his head. âTold you I always would.â
Karenâs heart fluttered in her chest, pushing herself impossibly closer to him.
âI canât have them get you too,â Karen admit sadly. âI canât have them take you.â
âThey wonât,â Frank assured. âBut thereâs not a chance in hell Iâm leaving you here,â
Frank could feel Karenâs smile against his neck, her soft lips pressing against his skin, and he knew they were running out of time. They needed to get out of this apartment. They needed to grab the bag Karen was packing and run as far as they could.
Time was running out, and Frank knew the risks involved in staying put. But they would have to walk over his dead body to get their hands on Karen.
"What other guy? There's another guy?" "Yeah, he came out of nowhere. He was wearing this black mask..."
