I love you.
To all of the people on tumblr who are pro-anorexic and pro-bulimic; who are struggling every day to survive; who believe they are fat and ugly and imperfect...pay attention.
You should know the truth about yourself...the things that other people may not tell you as much as they should: You are beautiful. You deserve to be happy. You are not a bad person and you are not alone. You belong to the world, and the world belongs to you. You are strong and capable.
Stay tuned...

Who am I?
Well, first and foremost, I am an undergraduate student at American Public University (it is an online school). I am working toward a B.A. in Psychology. After that, I plan on attending the University of Washington for graduate school. I am creating this blog for a few reasons. First, I want a place to share my experiences as a student, as a woman, and as an individual attempting to find a place in this world.
Secondly, I strongly believe that people should define themselves based on who they are, and not what they look like. I am still struggling with this, even at the ripe old age of 27. I think it is a real shame that people are still judged on appearances alone. Earlier this year, I went to a job interview. This interview was for a customer service position at a company that sold health supplements, organic products, etc. The interviewer was an attractive and physically fit man in his 30's (I'm guessing). I was a bit more nervous going into this interview than I usually am. Why? Because of the products the company sold. Interestingly, the man interviewing me made a point to mention how much physical activity was required in the position I was interviewing for. He mentioned this so many times that I got the feeling that I was being judged, not on my resume or actual abilities, but on my appearance (i.e. his views on what he felt I was and was not capable of). Needless to say, I didn't get the job.
Third, I am hoping to use tumblr as a way to reach others who are like-minded and looking to explore the world using the contents of their minds and hearts, and not their reflections in the mirror.
Stay tuned...
