Sylus sees his newborn baby’s eyes for the first time.

I knoooow such a big jump from purring to hairbrushing and suddenly a baby??? I’m sorry my mind is all over the place >.<
I was actually inspired by an art post a few days back (which I will link down below because I think it’s nicer to see after the story) and it’s about papa Sylus holding his baby. In it, Sylus’ eyes are sooo so so soft huhu I just wanna hug him. Tagging the artist @earthsrirshaart for the lovely piece, make sure to check out her other wonderful works!!!
And I know y’all want Sylus to be a girl dad, but for personal reasons, it’s a baby boy in this story 🩵

While you were pregnant, Sylus would often mention how much he wanted a mini-you. Your hair, your eyes, your smile, your everything. He would even lay his head near the precious swell of your belly, gently stroking it and asking the baby to “be good and choose your mother’s features,” to which you would laugh, ruffle his hair, and call him silly.
When the gender ultrasound revealed that it was a boy, Sylus smiled. “I only wish that he would be healthy, and would look like you, my love.”
So it was no surprise when you first saw your baby in the delivery room, crying and held up by the doctor for you and Sylus to see, that their hair is the same color as yours. Sylus, who was firmly holding your hand beside you, broke into a grin so wide.
After a quick cleaning, the baby boy is placed in your arms, and you both greet him with soft coos as he calms down in contact with your warmth. Sylus hovers closely, fixing your hair, caressing your cheek, his eyes looking at you with pride. Then, he reaches out a finger to gently stroke the baby’s head. “Yours,” he says happily, referring to the hair.
Sylus is called away to sign a few forms, and he reluctantly leaves, promising to return quickly. But in the brief moment of his absence, you saw the baby take his first peek at the world, and you smile at him in wonder. However, the baby quickly closed his puffy eyes, and it would be a while before he would open them again.
After settling in your private room, you encourage Sylus to give the baby some skin-to-skin as well, citing the benefits of close physical contact with both parents. He readily agrees, opening the buttons of his shirt, but teasing you with an arch of his brow— “if you wanted to see my body, you could have just asked, sweetie.” You make a face, to which he laughs, before coming over to hold his baby.
He sinks into the sofa beside your bed, cradling the precious little treasure in his arms. Sylus gently caresses the baby’s head, his finger then trailing down to the nose, tracing the quirk of their mouth, and teasingly poking a chubby cheek. “Yours, yours, and yours,” he smiles as he confirms that the boy looks just like you.
The sleepy baby is just about the length of his arm, barely a few hours old, yet Sylus is already heaping praise upon praise on him for his good wisdom to take after his mother. You roll your eyes at this. Sylus conveniently ignores it.
Perhaps curious at the familiar deep voice murmuring nearby, the baby stirs and his eyelids start to flutter as if wanting to see who it is. Sylus zeroes in on the movement, confident that the eyes would match yours too once they opened.
His expectant face, however, is abruptly turned into one of surprise. His mouth took a sharp inhale and his pupils grew wide as he held the gaze of the newborn.
Red. Staring back at him is the same vibrant color that greets him in mirrors.
Red. A striking reflection of his own, down to the exact warm shade.
Red. The heat of a cozy bonfire, the glory of blazing sunsets, the bold strokes of autumn leaves.
Red. The color of passion and determination and strength and love.
Red. His. Not like yours, but like his.
Sylus seems to have forgotten how to breathe.
It was the baby’s slow blink and soft coos, unaware of the shock he just gave his father, that reeled Sylus back.
Sylus let out a quiet laugh, his eyebrows scrunching together. He leaned down to gently press his forehead against the baby’s. “Mine,” he whispers reverently. “My baby. My son. Mine. My precious little one. It’s me, your… your papa.”
And you, a happy witness, felt your heart soften even more for the man before you. He keeps composed, though you swear you saw his lips wobble a tiny fraction.
When Sylus finally raises his head to look at you, his usual smirk is back, though his glowing eyes seem slightly watery. “He’s perfect,” he declares, standing to return the baby into your arms before wrapping you in an embrace, careful of the little one in between you. He presses a lingering kiss to your lips, then buries his face in the crook of your neck. “Thank you, my beloved,” he whispers, voice a little hoarse. “I will love you both for eternity and more.”

I watched a bunch of cheesy Cinderella movies today. Here are my thoughts
A Cinderella Story (2004)
This will be the longest one I write because I love this movie so much so bear with me.
The classic starring Hillary Duff. Loved it as a kid, saw it on Amazon Prime, and is what started me on watching all these. A lot of story beats are actually very similar to High School Musical. I'd call it High School Musical with a Cinderella overlay, except this movie came out before HSM! It's very 2000s but it's very fun. The moment when Sam tells Austin "Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought", and then it beginning to rain when they finally kiss later on? Poetry
It's established that Cinderella and her Prince have had an online relationship for about a month before the movie and are constantly chatting, so the romance feels a little more believable and genuine than others of its kind. They get to meet for the first time at the Halloween Homecoming Dance, which is when Cinderella realizes Prince is the popular boy, and her confidence in being herself for him takes a nosedive. He does not know (yet) who she is, and she deigns not tell him. Prince makes it very well known to the school after the fact that he wants to find her.
Her identity is revealed by her stepsisters and Prince's jealous ex, when they write a pep rally skit about his search and making fun of Cinderella. Cinderella is horrified by this, and especially by Prince's reaction of just sitting there and letting her be bullied. Later, she has her empowering moment of standing up to her stepmother and realizing high school shit doesn't matter; she's about to go to college.
She confronts Prince and tells him off for being a doormat, decides to watch the football game with her friend (who I haven't mentioned but is great). When Prince sees her in the stands, he realizes she's right, that he's going to lead his own life and not live the way he thinks he's supposed to, and runs to her. This is when they kiss, and then the movie soon ends.
The Cinderella: Sam(antha) is a hard worker and works for her dreams. A little dramatic about her self-confidence or lack thereof and refuses to tell The Prince who she is after the ball despite knowing how hard he's searching for her, but I'll give her grace because of her general social ostracism at their school.
The Prince: Austin wants to be a poet and go to Princeton but his dad wants him to go to his alma mater. How can he choose between sportball and the arts!? How can he tell his dad he wants to go to an Ivy League School!? He's kind of a doormat. He also stands by and watches Sam get made fun of by his friends for most of the movie before he knows she's the girl from the dance.
The Stepmother/Stepsisters: The iconic Jennifer Coolidge plays the stepmother and she's awesome. A terrible person, but an incredibly entertaining performance. She's awful in all the right ways. The stepsisters are funny as well but not as iconic to me.
The Fairy Godmother: a literal godmother to Sam, Rhonda has supported Sam ever since her father died, and is the one to provide an old gorgeous wedding dress for the 'wow' moment at the dance. It's a very pretty dress, and Hillary Duff looks glamourous.
Still love it, 5/5 Glass Slippers
A Cinderella Christmas (2016)
Cinderella runs her stepfather's event planning company "with" her stepsister. Her stepsister doesn't do shit, obviously. They're planning a "Christmasquerade" ball for a filthy rich dude, the Prince of the movie. He invites the stepsister to the ball, but barely notices Cinderella. For reasons, Stepsister can't go, so Cinderella goes instead. They meet at the ball, don't know each others' identities, and have a magical night.
The next day, he wants to find her, but can't. He puts out a video on youtube I guess?? where he says he wants to find his Cinderella from the dance, and that he will marry her. Stepsister realizes that Cinderella was the one there, and makes Cinderella help convince Prince that Stepsister was the one he met, saying that she'll give the entire event planning business to her.
He falls for it and starts planning he and Stepsister's wedding. He doesn't realize for a while that something is afoot but as Prince and Cinderella keep meeting during the wedding planning, he eventually puts together that Cinderella is the real Cinderella and then everything kinda falls into place. Cinderella inherits the business and gets the man.
The Cinderella: another hard worker, as a Cinderella must be. She doesn't take a lot of shit, and her real goal in this is not to get a man but to get the business. She actually kinda hates the Prince at one point, when she finds out he's the rich dude.
The Prince: he's kinda dumb. it takes him way too long to put the pieces together
The Stepfather/Stepsister: are actually her uncle and cousin, the uncle taking her in after her parents died. Uncle is nice but naive and never realizes his daughter is an ass until the very end. Stepsister is a fine enough Evil Stepsister, nothing to write home about
The Fairy Godmother: a random dressmaker that gives Cinderella a very pretty dress for the ball. She doesn't really have much to do with the plot though.
Fine enough but kinda boring and forgettable. 2/5 glass slippers.
Cinderella in the Caribbean (2023)
Cinderella is in college and working a job and has already escaped her stepfamily, but her Stepmother is going to get married again and makes her come to the destination wedding because her new fiance is pretty family-oriented and Stepmother made herself out to be this great mother to Cinderella. She promises to pay for Cinderella's tuition if she comes along and makes Stepmother look good.
They get to the Caribbean and for some reason Fiance can't seem to see that Cinderella is being treated poorly by her stepfamily. But you know who does see? Fiance's son! The Prince of the movie!
You heard me right, Cinderella's Prince is her soon-to-be-stepbrother!! Not only that, but Stepsister is also into him and is constantly flirting with him! And Stepmother encourages it, I swear to God!
Anyway, the family hangs out, stuff happens, it doesn't matter. There's never a ball, there's never a moment where the Prince has to find his Cinderella's identity. Really the only thing Cinderella about this is that the stepfamily sucks. The rest of the beats of a Cinderella story are missing. Eventually Fiance finds out that Stepmother sucks, cancels the wedding, and Cinderella and Prince get together. So at least there's no more pseudo-incest.
The Cinderella: she never really does anything and just kinda lets the plot happen to her. The one good thing about her is that her name is Ashlyn which I think is a clever contemporary name for Cinderella.
The Prince: is fine, my main issue with him is that he's supposed to be her stepbrother soon.
The Stepmother/Stepsister/Stepbrother: I hate all these people. The sister in particular is fucking insufferable. The brother also gambles away all their money.
The Fairy Godmother: THERE ISN'T ONE! I mean, I guess the Prince is it, because he buys her a dress for her to wear to the wedding. The dress is boring. She never has a real 'wow' moment.
Bad and frustrating. 0/5 glass slippers
After the Ball (2015)
Cinderella is a fashion designer whose father (yes, he's alive in this one but he sucks and literally hasn't seen her in 4 years) owns a company that steals designs from other companies. That's its legacy. Nobody legit will hire her because of that, so she is forced to work there. The brand is Kassell Clothing (get it? Castle). Her stepmother hates that she's there, and she and Stepsisters make her look like she's giving information to another company to get her fired.
Cinderella's godparents (she lives with them) help her disguise herself as a man and use their connections to get her hired there again, because she's determined to turn the company's reputation around. She makes great designs that wow everyone. Eventually she finds out that Stepmother is having an affair with the owner of another clothing company, and is plotting the downfall of Kassell so her boyfriend can buy them out and give her money and power I guess. As if she doesn't already have that at Kassell? I'm not sure why she's doing this besides to be evil.
Stuff happens and she reveals the plot and her identity to her dad, the day is saved, the stepfamily vanquished, the end.
The Cinderella: much better than the blandie from the Caribbean movie. She makes shit happen, she moves the plot. She works for her win.
The Prince: a co-worker at Kassell who doesn't actually do a lot but he helps her get her win in the end. He's fine enough. She kisses him as a man because she forgets she's in disguise and it's kind of funny. He puts her identity together fairly easily and never gets all "you lied to me!!" about it which is nice.
The Stepmother/Stepsisters: I've noticed before that a common combo with the stepsisters is that one will be catty and the other will be stupid. This happens in this movie.
The Fairy Godmother: This role is filled by her godparents. They support her every step of the way. She wouldn't have succeeded in infiltrating the company again without them. They also provide a cute supposedly vintage dress for her to wear at the ball, though I'm annoyed that the fashion designer Cinderella didn't design her own dress.
A fun enough romp. 3/5 glass slippers.
Elle: A Modern Cinderella Tale (2010)
The editing in this one is laughably bad. I don't think there was a single scene that lasted more than five seconds without a cut, and there are a lot of mistakes. Every use of green screen is horrible. And holy overexposure. I don't really take notice of editing, so if I'm telling you it's bad, then that means it's really bad. But I digress-
Cinderella is a young girl that dreams of being a singer, who's adopted by the owner of her parents' record label in LA after they die in a plane crash 6 months before the movie. Cinderella seems largely unaffected by the emotional weight of losing her parents 6 months ago except for like one scene toward the very end where she mentions that it feels like its her fault they died. Prince is an established pop star that Cinderella has been a fan of for a long time. He hears her sing and assumes that she's another pop star that he's supposed to collab with, and she does not correct this assumption. Later on, Prince has a meeting with the real pop star and realizes, obviously, that this is not Cinderella. He starts looking for the real Cinderella and brushes off the pop star and that pisses the pop star off. She eventually reveals herself to Prince, stuff happens, they start dating, and she gets into Berklee like she wanted.
The Cinderella: she's fineeeee. Her actress is charming despite the less-than-stellar acting, and she's actually a decent singer and the original songs she helped write for the movie were alright. she has goals and she achieves them.
The Prince: Probably the best actor on the project. He supports Cinderella's dreams and strives for his own goals, as well. I have to give him one thing over Cinderella Story's Prince, and that's that he defended Cinderella during her social ostracization scene.
The Stepfather/Stepsisters: The stepfather is a nice person who was friends with Cinderella's parents and is an uncle to Cinderella. He cares about Cinderella's dreams, but is unwilling to let her try singing professionally at the label because he's concerned about her emotional state from losing her parents. He instead lets her intern at the record label, but doesn't seem to notice that the Stepsisters are bullying her. The stepsister role is played by the number one pop group at the record label, and I can't recall for sure if the mean girl ringleader is actually her stepsister or not but I don't think she is.
The Fairy Godmother: there isn't one. Boo. You can argue that her friend, another intern, fills the role, but one of the biggest requirements for the Godmother is to provide the dress and the 'wow' moment for Cinderella, and there was never a case of that in the movie.
Technically the worst movie of the day but one of the ones I enjoyed the most. Gave me some giggles. I want to see someone like Drew Gooden review it. 3/5 glass slippers.

It had been years since they disappeared. Nearly seven; irony a cruel mistress. Their daughter was nearly 13, had spent more of her life without them than with them. The similarity to the dragon slayers' situation with their own parent figures was not missed on Gajeel. But at least she had the guild - at least she had a place to call home, people to support her right from the start, unlike himself, her parents, or their other orphaned friends.
He cursed himself for referring to her as orphaned. Ever the pessimist, he struggled to hold onto hope that they could still be out there somewhere, but they'd all seen it happen before. This wasn't new territory for the guild, but the grief of the unknown was prevalent nonetheless.
Gajeel turned to watch her - she was practicing her fire magic with Romeo. The boy-become-man had taken her under his wing, helping hone her fire magic in her father's absence. Gajeel's youngest son, just recently turned 4, watching with wide sparkling eyes. If he had still been here, Gajeel would've scoffed, grimaced, hated the idea that his son was so taken by fire magic, but now? He wouldn't mind having a fire wizard for a son. They weren't so bad. He already had one in an adoptive daughter, after all.
He frowned and went back to his drink. He was glad to be here for her, but to refer to her as a daughter? it was true, she had lived in their home the entire time her parents were gone, and they treated her the same as their own children... but that shouldn't have been the case. They should have gotten to parent her.
The front doors opened briefly, letting a light breeze wander into the guild. Gajeel paused. His nose twitched. No- that couldn't...
He looked toward Wendy, but her eyes were already on him, the same shellshocked disbelief on her face. Wordlessly, she stood up and was running out of the guild moments later, Gajeel fresh on her heels as they followed their noses to the scents they hadn't caught in nearly 7 years.

what if yor had twilight's real name written somewhere on her skin, and she's been searching for him all this time, before she met loid.
what if twilight knew yor was his soulmate from the very start, but he had to bury everything away for the sake of his mission.
what if yor came into this sham marriage with a heavy heart, knowing her soulmate is still somewhere out there, maybe looking for her too.
what if twilight came into this sham marriage as an opportunity to see what kind of life he could've had with her without the war or his mission haunting him.
Some may want Twiyor to be the hot & spicy couple because they’re both spies and live the fast & dangerous life. The way I see it though is they both would want something more gentle and sweet. Think courtship romance where he kisses her knuckles before a night out and she blushes, they hold hands as they take a night stroll in the park, she sits against his chest while they read books together or sip wine and talk for an evening. It’s quiet, it’s relaxed, it has the tension of steady passion a loving marriage should have but without the aggression their lives no longer need. It’s the warmth they’ve been craving for so long and the tenderness they need. Softness like those couples who grow old together yet still give one another delicate kisses on the cheek when they get home. The wonderful part is in its normalcy for them, the calm “plainness”. As that’s all they’ve ever wanted.
I think it would be fun if the Spy x Family revelation went something like:
Yor: "Actually, the job at city hall is just a cover, my other job is being an assassin."
Twilight, showing Error404 above his head: "Wait, you work two jobs?!?? But I— I make enough money! I can provide for you!!!"
While spiralling: "Ohmygod ohmygod of course she would be mad at me I can't provide for my family and she has to work as an assassin ON TOP of working full time and doing her share of house chores while actually I can balance my job as a psychiatrist and my missions only thanks to WISE oh Twilight you're such a bad husband SHE HAS TO KILL FOR A LIVING BECAUSE YOU DON'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY"
