Go into the arts, I’m not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are part of a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or how badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.

What she means: it's so messed up how demonized and unaccepted mental illness is. Even though illnesses like anxiety and depression are being more accepted, they're still widely romanticized. People with major mental disorders are not inherently bad people and yet people still call criminals 'psychos', 'narcissists' and 'psychopaths' and its so messed up. Mental illness, especially the 'scary' ones, need so much more awareness than they get
