“Just because you can feel another person’s emotions doesn’t make you responsible for them.”
— Sarah Brooke
“There’s no theme, no moral to be learned, except for the knowledge that lightning can strike from a clear blue sky one morning and take away everything you’ve built, everything you’ve counted on, leaving wreckage and no meaning behind. It can happen to anyone, it can happen to you.”
— Damon Galgut, In a Strange Room
“The only paradise we know through our senses and intuition is that of the beloved, and the only hell, disappointment in love.”
— Mahmoud Darwish, tr. by Sinan Antoon, from “In The Presence of Absence,”
— The Strain, Guillermo del Toro, s01e06; Occultation
[Text ID: What I find fascinating is how love is considered a gift, a blessing, with no acceptance to the fact that it also binds and chokes and strangles.]
“I am both a raging storm and a parching drought.”

“It always shocked me when I realized that I wasn’t the only person in the world who thought and felt such strange and awful things.”
— John Green
“Anytime you’re gonna grow, you’re gonna lose something. You’re losing what you’re hanging onto to keep safe. You’re losing habits that you’re comfortable with, you’re losing familiarity.”
— James Hillman
You cannot make everyone think and feel as deeply as you do. This is your tragedy … because you understand them, and they do not understand you.
Daniel Saint
I see you
I am you
For the people who need to hear this, it’s okay to
get sad about other people’s pregnancy announcements
unfollow pregnant people or new parents on social media if it’s too much
mute or filter pregnancy words and pictures
ask your friends and family not to talk about pregnancy with you
not want anything to do with pregnancy at all
Your boundaries are important.
Some days I just want to read you so I can soothe my soul and let my hands stay silent. I need them to hold on to your hand as I read your words and know my soul is not alone for others feel what I feel, have lived what I have lived, and are part of me for no one ever walks a path alone for we belong to humanity as a whole.

“Freedom is not something that anybody can be given. Freedom is something people take, and people are as free as they want to be.”
— James Baldwin, Nobody Knows My Name
“You don’t ask people with knives in their stomachs what would make them happy; happiness is no longer the point. It’s all about survival; it’s all about whether you pull the knife out and bleed to death or keep it in.”
— Nick Hornby, How to Be Good
“Always be kinder than you feel.”

Tomorrow I turn 24 and I just wanted to share some of the things that I never expected from growing up.
1. 99.9% of the time, your job doesn’t care about you.
2. There’s ALWAYS something that needs to be done.
3. Your family isn’t as close as they used to be.
4. It can get very lonely without all the friends you used to have.
5. there never seems to be enough money.
6. Most people abandon their dreams trying to survive.
7. There’s sooooo much laundry.
8. Grocery shopping is exceptionally expensive.
9. Everything hurts. Like, all the time.
10. You don’t have much time or motivation to enjoy your hobbies anymore.
“People tell her a beautiful woman should speak gently. “But the voices in my head made me want to scream,” she says.”
