My Five Year Plan
CONTACT SHEET FROM HALF TERM SHOOT FMP
Half Term shoot:
Over half term I did my final shoot for my Final Major Project. I did a shoot with my friend Elise Hutson who was my model for the shoot. I took photos of her neck tattoo in my pop up studio. I all so used a temporary tattoo on her back to make the images look more interesting. I also edited my final images and printed 1x A3 print for my Final major.
CONTACT SHEET FROM SHOOTING AT TATTOO STUDIO.
TIME TABLE FOR FMP
Two edits from shooting at Gentle Micks Tattoo Studio. I Really like these two images I took. I have decided to edit them with a Dramatic Black and white style. I shot them using my Canon 1100D with 75-300mm lens to create a shallow depth of field so the tattoo gun and the artist are the main focal points.
MOOD BOARD: BRIAN CUMMINGS
ARTIST STUDY:Brian Cummings
Brian Cummings is a Body Art Photographer he first started shooting body art when his hairdresser asked him to take some photos of her and her body art as she was covered head to toe in tattoos. Brian mainly photographs pinup girls with there own tattoos because he feels every different pinup girl has a different story and personality reflected in there tattoos.
I have chosen Brian for my artist study because his work if based around tattoos and he shoots in different tattoo shops while the artist is working on a client. I want to do this as part of my project to add to some photos I have taken of people with body art. He also uses models and shoots in studio and on location which i have done. I really like the why his images look because he uses the same style as Benoit Paille who was my other photographer i was looking at.
I want to create the look that he has in his photos with the shallow depth of field and the way he makes the tattoo stand out from everything else in the images. He has influenced me to take photos of tattoos while a client is being tattooed and it also shows how body art is created, which i want to show in my final major project as well as other element like personality and the identity of the person and how passionate they are about there body art. The reason for this is because i feel people look down on tattoos as some sort of graffiti but it truth tattoos are a way of showing people your confidence and that body art shouldn't be shamed on and thats how i feel Brian’s photographs portray.
For this shoot with Melissa I only really got one shot that I liked. I have fixed the brightness and contrast slightly. I have also done some skin smoothing and to make her tattoo stand out I have gone over it with the burn tool. I really like this shot and Im going to do another shoot with Melissa to get some more shots of her and her tattoos.
These are my edited final shots from Ryan’s shoot I did. I really liked these images I think I created a perfect depth of field using my 75-300mm lens. On all of the images I have fixed the brightness and contrast, and to make ryans tattoos stand out I have used burn tool. Over all i really like these images and I will be using them as some of my finals.
CONTACT SHEET: RYAN ALSFORD SHOOT
Shooting with Melissa 21/04/15
Yesterday I shot some images of mel and her tattoos. I think this was a successful shoot but I'm going to shoot some more images of her today 22/04/15 to add to the images I shot yesterday.
HALF TERM SHOOT: Tattoo Studio
Over half term I did a shoot at a tattoo studio. I shot a artist working on one of his main clients. I tested with different lighting and ways of angling my camera. I found this shoot very difficult to position myself because I didn’t was to disturb the artist while he was working.
There was a second artist doing my brothers tattoo while I was shooting so I shot some of my brother while he was getting tattooed. I felt this was a lot easier because I could move around a lot more and I felt I was more relaxed because I knew the artist and my brother.
PLANED SHOOT: 02/04/15
Studio shoot using Ryan Alsford as my model. I am going to take a series of shots of Ryan baring his tattoos on his arms. I have going to create a lighting that creates a lot of shadows but still shows the detail in his tattoos and his face.
This is a test shoot to create a type of lighting that I feel creates the right atmosphere but if I get any shots I think are final image material I will include them in my finals.
SKIN SMOOTHING
PLANED SHOOT: 30/03/15
Today my plan is to go to various Tattoo Parlours around watford and take some shots of Tattooists working on clients and also single shots of the artists and there own Tattoos.
I have planned to go and shoot at “Underground” and “BlueBird.
Also on Tuesday 31st march I have arranged to go and shoot at a Tattoo studio called “Michael Rose” in Potters Bar and take the same sort of shots.
Some test shots created into diptychs as an example for what I am going to produce for my FMP.
