‘S mi a’ tighinn, a’ cluinntinn an èig gun ghuth.

Ciùin ’s balbh, ach beò fhathast

Thèid a’ mhuir a chruthachadh le ar guthan. Cànan an eilein agus a shluaigh. Cuimhne mic-an-duine ann an cruth-tìre; Guthan air an call; Dàn an fhearainn; Cuimhne fuaime; Imrich; Mac-talla de na tha air fhàgail.

The sea is invoked by our voices. A language of the island and its people. Human memory in terrain; Lost sound; Earth poem; Sound memory; Migration; The echo of what is left behind.

The Well at the World’s End (a walk with Alexander Maris to uamh nam marbh) - visual response/ short note:

This image is documenting my initial process and visual response to the walk. Dried Dusle (duileasg), gathered from a beach facing Eilean nan Bam (Island of Women), a symbol of fertility; red and pink, anatomical in the way it moves, symbolising the death of this ancient knowledge and the women who were banished from Iona to Eilean nam Bam. The cyanotype mimics the colours of the skyscape and sea. Words, spiralling, an ode to the ancient rings of a tree; a nod to the ogham alphabet Maris spoke of and its presence within this landscape.
