New single- 'Me Without You' - There is something very special about getting to share this project little by little, bringing attention to each of these songs that I spent so much time with. Deep into recording this album, my mega-talented friend @ksrhoads dropped by the studio. Knowing we needed a couple more songs to round out the record, @casoncooley and I convinced him to stick around and write a song with us. Lucky for us 'Me Without You' was born! I wanted to release this song heading into the holidays - partly because it goes well with a hot cup o cocoa and partly because the holidays feel like a good time to remind the people we love that we love them. Excited to share with you my new Lyric VIDEO for ‘Feel Alive!’ It features hand lettering and painting by my sister @annieherzig who is a wonderful illustrator. Knowing this song holds a special place in her heart, I asked her if she'd be up for helping me make a lyric video. What came next was some serious free-form collaboration and experimenting on both our parts. In the spirit of sharing and being vulnerable we’re doing a special thing on Facebook over next few days asking people to post their #MyFeelAliveStory … this song is about finding hope & encouragement & light on the other side of a loss or a dark/difficult time. If you are inspired by this, please share a story how this relates to you or a dedication or reflection. We will pick a few of our favorites and those people will receive a very special hand-made 'Feel Alive' song lyric piece of artwork with hand-written lyrics and illustrations from the video. The way to 'submit' is to leave a comment here or on Facebook or you can share the video on your timeline with your story (use #MyFeelAliveStory in your post). Some people are sending private messages too and that is great and counts too! If you choose to partake -- thank you in advance for your vulnerability. Look at these little touring babies with their camcorder! 9 years ago today it says. What in the whaaaat. That was back when we toured in my old packed-to-the-brim CRV, made herzi-blog videos, and felt like we were on a constant road trip! I decided to post this pic to mention that & thank @spotify for adding my new song 'Feel Alive' to their #songstosinginthecar playlist --instead of a pic of 'Feel Alive' in the playlist right after @taylorswift 's new single 😍😍--because memories, because roadtrips, because this photo makes me think of all the songs I sang to in that car with these girls I adore- @jamlin & @claireindienunn !! New Single 'Feel Alive' out today -- This week was a tough one. To be honest, it feels like a weird time to be releasing music, when so many things are going on in the US and the world. But again, I remind myself that music/art is one of the biggest gifts we have in tough times. So with that in mind I share with you my newest single, 'Feel Alive,' from my upcoming album Moment of Bliss (coming early next year). I wrote this song when a friend of mine was grieving the loss of her mom. My heart was breaking for her, having lived through that (six years ago this week actually), I wished I could offer some sort of comfort from the other side of that grief. So that's where I began. Writing and recording this album took me through many seasons and along the way this song became an anthem of encouragement - a reminder that light waits on the other side of any dark time. Truly. New VIDEO for 'Strangers' Alert! A couple years ago I moved into a house on a hill. And for the first time since moving to Nashville, I was able to see the sunset every night. There are a lot of mixed feelings in a sunset. Similar to the feeling I get in the Fall. So beautiful and yet so temporary--changing before your eyes. My song 'Strangers' feels like the sunset to me, in the beautiful space where happy and sad co-exist, where everything feels temporary, but just on the edge of every dream coming true. Imagine that. We decided to shoot a video in this space, nothing flashy, just reflective. I hope you enjoy. Link to full video in bio. Xo Katie

Watching the Emmy's tonight reminded me I never really did a proper post of my Emmy adventure earlier this year! Here are some pics & vids-some of which I shared on my Instagram stories that night... it was such a wild thing to be nominated (thank you @mrpeabodyandshermanshow )! The Emmy I'm holding is not mine (I got 2nd place as you can see on the last vid😉, it belongs to the oh so talented @kevinzilla2000 pictured w/me & Dave Smith:) I picked the least awkward red carpet pic & vid I could find-- believe me it was not pro how I handled that! But I got a cookie at the end so.... also @butterflyboucher was the best date & had way more comfortable feet than I did! Big congratulations to all the winners and nominees tonight!! So many great shows happening right now.

Yoooou guuuuuys, I'm pretty darn happy I get to finally start sharing songs from my new record with you. Today I'm releasing Strangers. It's the first song on the album (which I'm calling 'Moment of Bliss' 😍... to be released in early 2018)! This song was one of the first I wrote for the album and it holds a special place in my heart. My best buddy producer extraordinaire @casoncooley and I produced this song (and the album!) & @butterflyboucher provides the ethereal bgvs and artwork! And you know I just hope you enjoy it!
