Is it crueler to bring someone into the world knowing they'll live a short life, or to not let them live one at all? Arrival deals with omnipotence and the power of action, along with the fragility of humanity in such a beautiful way. Louise loves Hannah deeply, before she ever even truly knew her. In some way, Louise has always known and loved her. However, Louise's love isn't enough to save her daughter from the cruel fate of nature, and so she must die anyway.

Louise as "God" loves Hannah, which is why Louise still chooses to bring her into the world. Louise was given the heptapods language, and experience, which means Louise was given the gift of always living with her daughter, even when there is none. Not having Hannah isn't even a question that crosses Louise's mind, even with how much this upsets Ian.

this song fits shane and ilya a little too well. they have so little time with each other and they have to try so hard to savor it all. they're always wishing for more time with each other and trying to get it in any way they can (ilya watching shane win the cup. shane watching him win the cup and the 50 goals video (even though i didn't include them)). they're always orbiting and yearning for each other
