Weekly Reflection- Lab 0

This week was the first week of class.  I would say that I am pretty nervous, honestly.  I thought that I was pretty decent with technology-based thing, but even with the first assignment of making a Tumblr was really difficult and I feel like there are terms being used that I just don’t understand.  I was taking this class because I thought it seemed interesting, and it does fill my Communications minor standards, but I’m afraid I might be in over my head.  I will say though if I can really learn and grow in this class, I think that it will be really helpful when it comes to me being a teacher.  If I can be technologically developed I might be able to create some awesome lesson plans that would really engage any student I might have in my class. 

I think it was really important that I learned what web development really was.  Obviously. that is the bases of this class, and knowing that it is the process of making a website, with a front and back end developer, is very helpful at the beginning of the semester.  One thing I did find interesting to read is that a requirement to be a web designer is that you would really need to have an education based on computer science since it is a very competitive field. That surprised me because I would have thought that if someone could design a very good website, and they didn’t have a degree in computer science or web design, would it really matter? And then, that whole thing also covers the requirements of being a web developer.  Again, one would need some bachelor’s dree in some major related to computer science.  I wasn’t expecting that.

Overall I am excited about this class but also very nervous.  I think that this class might really push me, and I can definitely predict that I will be at office hours a decent amount!

First Day!

I am a Junior at the University of Rhode Island.  I’m an Education major but I’m taking a web design class this semester.  The first assignment was to make a Tumblr! I’ve never done this, but let's see how it goes! First blog!
